Metric is the best it can be when it displays its pugnacious, upbeat, power-alternative roots, as in the signature song "Combat Baby." This song pays some homage to those roots and comes close to capturing the connecting emotions that the band has with its original audience. Perhaps nothing will ever connect Metric with its audience like Combat Baby does, but with Synthetica, the hope remains alive.
Some of us are wild ones Ever under wanted I believe Lining up in the background Waiting for the crowd shot to be seen In the shadow of the big screen Everybody begs to be redeemed Hey, I'm not synthetica I'll keep the life that I've got We were never meant to Crawl in for the bait, we never will I can think for myself I've got something no pill could ever kill Hey, I'm not synthetica (Oh) I'll keep the life that I've got (Oh) So hard, hard to resist Synthetica (Oh) No drug is stronger than me Synthetica We're all the time confined to fit the mold But I won't ever let them make a loser of my soul Ahhh Ahhh Ahhh-ahh Ahhh Ahhh Ahhh Hey, I'm not synthetica (Oh) I'll keep the life that I've got (Oh) I'll keep the life that I've got I'll keep the life that I've got I'll keep the life that I've got
This song reminds me of the "outside the mainstream" theme of Twilight Galaxy: Did they tell you, you should grow up When you wanted to dream. Did they warn you, better shape up If you want to succeed I don't know about you, who are they talking to? They aren't talking to me. There may be some drug-related theme - I don't know for sure - but I tend to think it's about being your own person, and not doing what's expected, just to fit in.
I thought there was no drug stronger than me but Carfent with xanax, baclofen, and lyrica in my system is. No Jeep. 2 Felonies and 2 traffic tickets(unsafe lane change and failure to stay in lane should be the same). I used to eat stickers ten years ago 50mcg at a time but unmixed Carfent is another Animal.
Then there's Three Days Grace to think about. Also, it is hard to believe that there is not a single person in the u.s. that does not know about bieber, whether you hate his music or not...

"I can think for myself--something no pill can ever kill"--great line.
