The score is amazing. Especially the one where the lead was being a peeping tom. So good that De Palma played it 3 separate times in 10 minutes. It played, it stopped, it played again and stopped then played again.
I love watching interviews and this is the first time I've seen the interviewer record the questions and reactions after the fact. Probably to have it all under one film reel. Fascinating!
Her later interviews, they set up dual cameras so she didn't have to do this. But since these early ones had only one camera, they needed to record her asking the questions so they could edit that in for TV and not have them just coming in from off screen. She also wants her face to be on camera so that she can build up her career and recognizability.
@@bobbiewygantarchive I bought the ultra collector's version in the fall 2016. It was released in the fall 2015. There are a book, 2 dvds and 1 blu-ray which are in a cardboard box.
He had a rep back in the day for being a lot more successful with women than his other nerdy filmmaker friends like Steven Spielberg, largely down to how confident he's always been. Margot Kidder told stories about basically trying to coach Spielberg into being better with women back then...a period of time when she herself was dating De Palma.
Also, the theme "Telescope" is in 2023's _Air_ soundtrack along with "Axel F" from _Beverly Hills Cop_ and "Love on a Real Train" from _Risky Business._ _Air's_ about Nike signing Michael Jordan in 1984 and making a basketball shoe around him, which made them billions.
The scene of the killer's intrusion into the bedroom when he comes out of the closet is still very tense and intense! The murder scene is still also impressive!
@Steven Davies BODY DOUBLE as DRESSED TO KILL and BLOW OUT is a classic hitchcockian thriller/crime movie. I think it's very different. About those Italian directors, It's not really classic thrillers/crime movies. It's really more than that. It's very gory horror. I never saw any single movie by Mario Bava. But I saw some movies by Lucio Fulci. About Lucio Fulci's movies, there's a cruelty barely believable in the gore scenes. And this cruelty is really unwelcome and not to my taste at all!
His previous movie was _Scarface_ which I'm told is a very violent film. I'm not a De Palma fan, but like this movie and _Mission Impossible_ starring Tom Cruise. _Untouchables_ is worth watching once, but the ending courtroom is cringe. Thinking of De Palma's _Carrie,_ I recently watched _Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret_ because of the controversy of Judy Blume books being banned. (The MPAA rated it PG-13 so under-13s won't go to see this movie about puberty. And moms on parent websites aren't recommending it for kids under 11, Margaret's age.) Now they have a don't say "period" bill in FL, which makes _Carrie_ more relevant.
A great movie and the one of the greatest movie posters of all time..i used to have it in my room..

The poster is excellent
I had the poster too. It was pretty exciting to a 15-year-old boy.
Brian DePalma is a legend with very few equals.
@@haintedhouse2990 That honor belongs to James Cameron.
Bobbie is Magnificent.
Brian is the Greatest.
The end of the video makes you think of a De Palma short film.
That ending of her doing the question part is beyond words amazing without meaning to be
5:55 So many directors like The Red Shoes, and with good reason. It's such an amazing film.

@@jedijones For sure, I got that. Thanks!
I saw the actual house when visiting LA in 2005! Blew my mind! Have pic standing in front of it!
It's sexist film.
I like to watch!
De Palma is magic!
BODY DOUBLE is wonderful!
We worked on the special features portion of the Body Double special edition Blu ray in Europe. A real underrated film.

it's a masterpiece... really, really enjoyed this movie
@@harryiglesias I think exactly the same!
@@bobbiewygantarchive Very smart of them to include your interviews on there!
I now know what it feels like to look de palma in the eye.
I love the range of his films while all of them still have his clear style and look.
8:20 to 8:40 I could almost hear Donaggio's score playing in the background
That was kind of a meta ending!
Best movie
One of my favorites too!
Brian DePalma is kind of attractive. I never noticed it before.
Nancy Alllen certainly thought so.
Yes
Have you 3 been drinking??

Bro that ending is lowkey creepy 😂
6:28 - “Nice to see you…bye bye.”
(Stays in his chair)
If Brian De Palma remade Lassie Come Home, it would be one intense experience?
Lynchian ending
Not really!
If it came out in 1984. What does that even mean ?
De Palma is a genius! She is almost annoying in her supercilious tone but still entertaining-
We were robbed of Brian DePalma's Lassie.
.. frankie goes to hollywood !! relax !

I think the movie's defining scene is the telescope/striptease. The power drill scene was just average for me. I love this movie, though.

I guess Dario Argento among others.

Bobbie was a little salty here, which wasn't typical of her. Obviously she had a beef with violent movies and filmmakers.
She grilled Ridley Scott harder over Alien than anyone else I've seen her interview.
Jesus the interviewer jus wanted to talk about hi controversial he can come off.
