Great work Stu really appreciate your time and effort look forward to the next one 👍👍👍
You make it look effortless. 👍🏾
thanks buddy, years of practice
Hi.
Stu one thing I've found over the years people get grooved into straight line work cavity s.If you feel it's worth showing ,A lot people are weak at bonding brick various types of junction s 4 and 9 inch, also unsure how to deal with reverse and broken bonds.Ive seen it ,where people have been asked on site to build a pier but didn't volunteer or won't to,because they had not really done much of that kind of work only in college maybe 5 or 6 years gone.Seasoned brickies no problem s. Just an idea Stu even just lay out dry on your set up slab and show the cut bricks / closures /bats butting up and tie in .As you know most lads can do straight runs,I think it would help your views more.
Abit long winded just an idea.
All the best.
Good work Stu. Cheers.
I would love to be your apprentice mate, Not Gunna lie You makes It look so easy Hats off to you 👊 🛠.
cheers josh, plenty practice

Looking good Stu , I do mine a bit different I use a steel 90 degree frame square and tape the size of pillars I’m building then don’t have to keep measuring ! We’re all different ! bit cooler in Spain today only 39 degrees , how’s the rain there ? Cheers Mike
Would like to see how you built the brick/concrete pad below pillar.
Hi stu, nice job, lovely finish, keep it up,brian
Hi Stu--My name is Joe and I am from Ontario Canada. I have been in the trade for over 35 years "ouch". I like the way you use the trowel. You do nice work. I know we all work a little different and what have you but over all the end result is what matters.--Keep making videos and take care.
I just finished the attempt to add some brick piers under our slab out the back as they retaining wall failed. Bricking is hard!
hey Stu

hola!! soy de Argentina, aqui es posible conseguir el tipo de ladrillos pero quisiera saber que tipo de mortero usa usted, ya que la textura y el color es diferente a lo que usamos aquí..gracias muy buen trabajo.. saludos
Would you be able to do a video on how you did your training mortar?
Brilliant stu,
Any chance of some block work videos
What are you measuring for with the tape measure on the side as you build each layer?
Practice definitely does my perfect lol nice work !
same with anything else liam
Thanks for help in the work
Would you advise dampening bricks first?
That’s pretty!!! Perfect!
Hi Stu, do you need a damp proof course? Is it already in the base?
Yes u need damp proof course when building off concrete I must of forgot while it’s only example build
stu crompton HI Stu, hopefully you see this ,. can you do a video of this please and show how to do the damp proof course I’m going to build some pillars for my driveway I’m going to do myself next year , they’re for the gates . Thanks p.s love the vids keep it going 👍🏻.
@@davewatson1919 I personally wouldn't put a damp course in a gate pillar as it isn't necessary and it will cause a break in the adhesion between the two courses.
Hope that helps.
Bricklayer of 40 years.
What's the recipe of your mortar..? It looks so different from what I know from Denmark..
+Olm9 it's training mortar lime based so I can reuse it 👍
Thank you Stu, that was great. What are the proportions of that training mix?
4 to 1 mate
Just sand and hydrated lime as in 4 sand and 1 hydrated lime? Sorry if that is a stupid question, but I know nothing and am trying to learn anything.
Muy buen trabajo compañero, te felicito y ya me gustaría ami trabajar contigo, saludos desde Sevilla, España
Hola Jose muy amigo
Hi there stu loving all your videos and good taste in music very peaceful and a big fan of you now you genuinely seem like a very decent chappy. Can I ask please were I can source training morter from my friend please I know b&q do hydrated lime but not sure if it's that . Am really interested into getting into bricklaying. I've been watching your videos for a long while now. I have done odd small jobs just picking up on your videos. I am a carpenter and want to add bricklaying to my skills knowledge. Hope you can help you. Am in the UK. I live close to lots of building merchants.
Thanks man.
Update Stu
Found your training morter mixer video stu looks like you have already answered my question on video thank again stu
Great skills
My mortar mix sets too fast. I can barely lay two bricks before its solid, but its still sloppy in the bucket. Any tips?
use engineering brick, they don't soak up water out of the mix so much
hi stu whats the name of this brick and where can i find it please
42 brick pier, how long did it take you? I just built (6) 2'x2'x6'H piers (270) brick per column and was building 1 a day, drilled and pinned rebar into the footing and filled it up halfway with concrete working by myself, I'm just curious about how long the 42 took you, about an hour?
I think at least 2 hours
Great stuff Stu. I wish I had your skills. Can you tell me what mortar mix you should use to lay padstones?
thanks mate either 3 or 4 to 1

Re-title your video, "A skilled mason laying brick" Not much in the lesson here, a great video but I was looking for a few shades of instruction. Not much, just a few. Trying to get even better at brick and masonry work and I'm always looking for more guys spreading their talent around. C-mon man, talk through it, anything, hell tell jokes about your sister, anything!
Level bashin ain’t real good bud
Great work Stu really appreciate your time and effort look forward to the next one 👍👍👍
