@@343GuiltyMoo man the Ferrets saga was so good. Like, not good as far as Halo books go, but I enjoyed the relationship between the Ferrets and Veta Lopis.
I am pretty sure the ma5k was going to be a skin for the assault rifle, but then they decided to actually turn it into its own unique weapon. That's probably why the dimensions are nearly identical to the ma40.
Been using the Avenger Rifle a lot lately in the multiplayer and I must say, it's very fun to use. Now add it and even the Bandit Rifle into a 2-part campaign DLC for *Halo: Infinite,* and I'm set! ❤👍🏻
I love that you have started posting shorter videos more frequently. Love your longer vids too, but im always filled with joy when i see that you have posted again!
I am loving this new update, alot of fun! Ghosts of Onyx is one of my favorites so I'm pleasantly surprised to see it. Halo Studios is off to a great start!
It's definitely unfortunate that they just modified the front end of the AR and called it a day. The MA5K is almost 30% longer than its supposed to be, it wouldn't bother me so much if that didn't also mean that its really easy to mistake the Avenger and the BR at a glance in gameplay. The scope being the most noteworthy visual difference between the two is a very small thing to identify when you spot a gun out of the corner of your eye on the ground, or in an enemy's hands. Like, I'm so glad its in the game. It feels great from a gameplay perspective. But it really deserved its own, shorter model, animations, and customization in the armory.
It's cool that they added it. I will critique the design, however, even though the MA5K being added to the game is a positive thing- I don't want to come off as thinking it's a bad thing. However, for whichever next game that a variant/iteration of the MA5K is added to, if any- it would be beneficial for Halo Studes to pay attention to how the design of their guns are received, and it can even have a minor affect on gameplay. My main critique of this gun's design is simply that the default model looks like a cross between a BR and AR, even in first person view. Yes, it follows the iconic UNSC design language well, however, it is not distinct enough, in my personal opinion, especially in a game where different weapon models exist for the Battle Rifle and Assault Rifle. If you are a new player or quite far away from an enemy holding one, it may be recognized at a glance as a BR or AR. The length of the gun seems too long as well. The magazine is also a bit thin for a 60 round mag- and the mag looks the same as the AR mag, which is also a bit jarring since it holds 60 rounds (I understand the legacy element, since Combat Evolved, but, I think it's less jarring if the mag is widened). An ideal version of this gun, in my opinion, would have its design language be not of the AR nor BR, but, instead tap into SPI/Mirage's design language, which is more low-profile, subtle, smooth. All this being said, it is still cool that what is now Halo Studes has continued to breathe new life into parts of the franchise's armory and arsenal that weren't included in previous FPS titles. I am glad that the art direction has been on a legacy-centric course. I wish that, some day, the 2018 title drop Halo Infinite and Slipspace reveal trailer armor (particularly, the helmet) will be put into Infinite. Come on- that helmet coming down into view was freakin' HYPE, and they essentially discarded it, but, that helmet design was really beautiful and deserves to be a standalone Mark VI variant!!
not as much as you wouod think. unsc weapons are bullpup, so there is a bit more barrel length in the short package than with regular guns. the 500 year advantage probably allows for bullpup without the contemporary issues.
i personally have the theory that the "avenger" in the designation is a nickname given to differenciate this "full size" version of the MA5K vs the much shorter configuration seen in the ghost of onyx cover as for why would there be a version of the 5K convertion kit that is the same length as a normal MA40? well, a theorical benefit is a lighter package without compromising longer range performance an out of universe theory is that probably the gun started as a skin for the MA40 and halfway through production, once the model was finished the team considered the potential of making it it's own weapon leading to what we got now
Mr 00, I would enjoy seeing your trademark analysis on helldivers, its clear they were inspired by several different scifi universes. But they clearly paid attention to smaller details when creating all the different pieces of equipment used.
I just assumed that every MA5 model has a K variant (example: MA5B/K). This Avenger would be the K variant of the MA40, or MA40/K. Ironically, it might have been more appropriate to give the Avenger's traits to the Evolved MA5 (which I call the MA5E, it's basically a modernized MA5B).
*Also the MA5K Avenger is an SMG. So yes the bullets are too big for the mag or the mag is too small. And it’s missing a bullet ejector for whatever reason.*
@mekboy7403 Well to be fair I thought that’s why they’re calling it the Avenger. An SMG version of the Carbine. Kinda like how the Bandit is a different DMR with a shorter barrel and other small differences
Soo, they fucked up both Johnsons MA5 and the full auto battle rifle from the books in one gun model. Yeah, that seems like what i should expct from the studio.
Also, what's wrong with the other 4 "smg" options from the sandbox. The ones that have already been in the game... Ah the time honored tradition of reinventing the wheel.
kind of cool to have this weapon in a mainline game and not just as an AR skin, but it ends up being a bit weird to have this as the SMG rather than, the, uh, SMG.

Hey boss! I would really love a video on the new Insurrectionist governments post war and their involvement in the Banished! Great video I really love the quality and depth in your content.
I might be wrong but wasnt the MA5K used in the raid where the S2s captured that inny leader? Also pretty sure the spotter for SGT Johnson when he was fighting innys with the M99 was an MA5K Edit: its never spesified but i assume all MA5 (including the army model in Reach) use the same magazines types, just that the B is an HBAR model like the RPK or M27 IRL, they say the switch to smaller mags is for spring reliabality on the C but i assume its just what is standard to issue with each model and that all of them can use diffrent capacaty mags, unless the 60 round compatable versions use exotic quad stack recievers like the quatro 15
Hello there, I don't know if this has been done as a topic. Personality selection for A.I.s in Halo. What makes an ideal personality for turning into an artificial intelligence. If this has been covered, apologies. Thank you for your time.❤
Sometimes I wonder what the use is of lore video's. Just about every book or video introduces a new retcon and the devs have always had problems with physics, dimensions and nomenclature. Not to mention that deperate need to increase numbers and make things ridiculous. "Brutes are now as powerful as a superhuman cyborg in a suit! Flood that is vulnerable to fire and heat can now survive the heat of re-entry just because we want them to be a bit more dangerous and spread even faster! This supposedly supersmart kid gets told he needs to get his team over the finish line so he immediately abandons them and loses, but it's OK because he's smart and learned the lesson afterwards!" Halo has so many good things, the designs of the aliens, (much of) their cultures, the tech and the stories. But the moment you dive into the details it's a mess of retcons and incomprehensible choices that 5 minutes of google or drawing out what you want could have prevented.
Afaik before this moment, it was only featured on the cover of a Halo novel titled Ghosts of Onyx. This is it's first appearance in a Halo game as a usable weapon
@nocturnalsonder Now it's starting to remind me about my issue with the fact that humanity aka the UNSC didn't develop anymore newly weapons in the later centuries of the Halo universe. Or some sort of multi-tool that could also be a weapon like the military and hunting/camping multi-tool shovels. But equipped or made of a material that could resist or potentially reduce the power of something like an Elite's plasma sword. Probably something like the “power swords” and other weapons of that variety from Warhammer. As well as something like a powerful riot shield, definitely not as thick as the ones the Hunters of the series carry. But definitely powerful, the Doom remake series game Doom: The Dark Ages was smart to make something like that for the Doom Slayer/Doom Guy which accent buzzsaw and boomerang weapon. I'm not saying that Halo needs anything like that particular weapon. But the UNSC could do better than Just knives. There's also the fact that now that they have constant access to Forunner technology it's odd that the UNSC also hasn't developed more, Spartan specific weaponry, or a lesser but still highly effective superhuman augmentation for ODSTs or anyone else like Sergeant Avery Johnson. Whom was one of the last remaining Orions aka Spartan 1s. But I digress. The video is about this rifle. And I'm wondering if it's a sort of predecessor to the Battle Rifle from Halo 2 🤔. And it seems like something that's old but modifiable that the human rebels within the UNSC from the Insurrectionists that wanted independence, would use for their ground forces like the MA5C the Marines use. I have a feeling they can also use the same sized ammunition. But it might not be able to handle the kinetic force of it being fired.
Did not hesitate to suit up as pre Thel Vadam pre arbiter as close as I could but John and myself can attest. This carbine feels weird and there is a slight learning curve to it. Personally I dont like it though.
What’s the fucking point of adding a barely unique gun to a Game they 100% plan to unceremoniously jump ship on? It’s not even a cool one like the Halo 4-5 Forerunner guns. Pointless.
Well people have been clamouring for new guns for a while now and the MA5K is relatively simple to add and fills a niche that wasn't well served in the base game, there are other guns in the works but it'll take longer for them to be ready, the Avenger on the other hand didn't need as much work so was able to be released much sooner.
