If I counted right, he said Pigpen 66 times and said 'Pigp-' twice so if we count that as 0.5 pigpen, he said it 67 times throughout the video

it was funny watching lifeweaver and emongg play tug-o-war with the enemy hog
The important part is that he’s a little more fun to play now. You can get one-shot hooks if you do the old combo but hook them on top of a pigpen, but it’s not consistent and you have to do a slight setup with the trap that can be destroyed. Anna is still super frustrating to play against though.
My favorite part was when Emongg said "Get pigpenned"

The heal recharge and pig pen cool down feel a bit too long for how easy it is to break for me, but he definitely feels better. Will have to wait and see how it goes
If pigpen stays bad it should at least go down to like 7 secs instead 12
He actually feels way worse. 1 shot is basically gone, pigpen is useless, he’s less tanky bc of the breather nerf, and he does no damage to tanks bc of the right click removal. Had my worst hog game ever today where the enemy jq had more than 3x my damage.
@@taiteyard3567pigpen isn't useless, it lets you consistently oneshot squishies and slows down tanks you hook into it
@fiona9891 100% agree it definitely not useless 1 shot squishy is back baby. I will say though, the range on the pig pen is really small look at rammatras vortex it's way bigger...
@@fiona9891 yeah it lets you one shot squishies if you camp a corner with a pigpen already placed and their supports don’t throw an immo, suzu, lifegrip, etc. AND they actually make it into the pigpen, which as a console player, is much less likely to happen. Hog is a tank, pigpen is an ability for a dps that does nothing to keep hog alive.
Now we just need a Roadhog speedo skin and then he is perfect.

I think instead of putting them in the center of the pig pen the edge should be where they go. Since it slows you want to maximize the slow as they run away from you
Hog and Mauga perfectly highlight the support problem. The healing and saving abilities are way too much, it feels impossible to kill anything. You have to play out of your mind to kill anyone while supports can save anyone or deny you with almost zero effort.
The problem with this version of hog is he doesn’t overcome the tank falacy.
He doesn’t shield his teammates, he doesn’t kill the enemy, he can put them in a bad spot, but because supports do what they do that’s not very much to just cc them a bit.
Either the pig pen needs a buff to what it does like reducing the healing they get or something, or make the cc more noticeable. As is this is super weak
The pigpen is a cool ability, i like it, it sets up combos and make it harder to escape by just walking, but the "remake" overall feels like it was just thrown out there, like... its basically the same. The primary fire is very nice, probably the best thing, and the healing although a good change, have the cooldown to recharge WAY longer then it should be, and the ult is just the same. That being said, i would throw out some extra flavor to the pigpen, like an healing redux or inability to dash while on top of it, and reduce the cooldown of healing to like 7 seconds or 8
I mean they don't want to change the hero too much. Keeping the identity is important to not make hog players unhappy
I think giving Hog more ammo/range and making him into a more Poke-style tank should have been the direction to go with him because he has the hook to fish for targets and the heal to sustain long engagements but is lacking the consistent chip damage that Sigma has (also Sigma vs Hog is a skill-based match up) But right now Hog still doesn't really fit into any set play style and there is still no real reason to pick him in a competitive game.
As a qp warrior and hog being my fav tank since ow1 I have had a hard time with him lately. My experience has been like your second match: purple, stun, hacked, slept - all in all melted. I like the heal rework but I think you're right in the regard that it doesn't eliminate the problems you face when you pick hog. Pigpen seems kinda fun but also a bit redundant so far, gotta see how it plays out over time
As someone who has played against the new Roadhog. Yes the pigpen is mildly inconvenient. Reminds me of a less effective Sojourn Disrupter Shot.

Pigpin is just extra damage and a slight CC to throw out compared to before the rework. Buffing it to a hard CC will make everyone start yelling about opened or to many CC's once again. Just the extra damage from pulling someone through it with hook is enough to let you easily finish off most heroes with just a single follow up shot and works quite nicely. Or place it on your Ana's camping spot to help her secure her sleeps on flankers.
The best use of Pig Pen for me right now is throwing it where your Ana play from. If all Hogs do that, it will make Ana players life much, much easier from now.

You can "one-shot" combo up to 225 hp characters with pig pen. Its no easy, but posible. So any buff is unlikely
I dunno about your experience, but I’ve found that incredibly easy. I preferred the previous difficulty tbh.

"PIG PEN" has the exact same energy as "BIG SLAM"
Everyone with the Sombra rework: "Oh yeh, this is amazing and makes the character WAAAAAY more fun to play!"
Everyone with the Hog rework: "Eh, maybe it's better? I kinda like the new healing... we will have to give it time..."

after playing roadhog for a few matches, i feel he gets his ult just a little too fast, especially if you manage your healing really well.
I could see Hog with Junkrat, Sym, or Torb being meta. Have Hog and Junkrat set their traps Hog pulls in and the Sym turrent or Torb turrent melts them. It would be awful to go against but fun to play.
Are Slow effects stackable? If they are, Sym + Mei + Pigpen sounds like going against a bottomless swamp 😣
as Genji main I rather kill myself than play against this ugly comb.
The 1shot isn’t gone, just less consistent if you aren’t using his trap. The idea behind it is tanks are supposed to take and control space. Emphasizing the trap does just that. Considering that, the cooldown should be lower. 8 seconds or so sounds fair.
I feel like over half the cast has a button they can press to get out of this new ability, unless it locks you out of ability usage?

So one thing I noticed was after a pigpen you were backing away from enemies to get space and try heal but it feels to me you have to commit to your kill more with pigpen, stop being afraid and use that time you have of pigpen to just keep shooting them instead of walking back and giving them more space
I'm surprised they didn't increase his ult duration and added another ressource metter on it like Torbjorn. He's probably not going to be able to use his ult as widely as before

I feel like if they changed his ult the rework would feel more impactful. Right now, it just feels like they added and ability instead of a rework. The Take a Breather change just feels like quality of life, rather than a rework. Im a bit underwhelmed overall, personally
Hog is so fun now!!! I’ve been having so much fun now that my roster of hero’s is larger. I can say I can confidently play Zar,sigma, hog, and monkey even when I am hard countered.
I feel like the heal is a good change. And I think pig pen is fun. But, this is probably a controversial opinion and this is coming from someone who NEVER plays tank.
I think the trap should disable movement abilities. Why was moira able to fade out of it? Genji is able to dash out? Kiri is able to tp out? It's practically worthless. Hell, even Cassidy's fucking nade disables movement abilities. Why are they so scared of making Hog a viable tank????
And don't even get me started on other tanks. Who have stuns long enough for them to secure a kill.
Orisa's spear, Sigma's rock, Doom's punch. All of these give the tank enough time to actually kill an enemy hero.

So, you rely solely on something added to hog in the rework to fix hogs issues with being able to pretty much play without his team, and then complain when the thing doesn't cause the other hog to immediately fall over while being backed by nearly his entire team, even then you still almost killed the hog.

hog is the same, but worse at close range(no more one shot on reapers) and worse at short/mid range(no more one shot left click) but his heal is better. sooo he is still the most useless tank for the same reason that the new tank mauga will be bad. they didnt even change the hook, which is why they decided to rework him. love this one

He's throwing the pen to close to himself. Need to throw the pen further away from yourself so when you hook them in they end of backing into the full thing instead of only the very edge.

it’s more like a balance change with a new ability
more like a overhaul than a rework
And what's the difference between a rework and an overhaul? His gun and healing were reworked and a new ability was added, it was just his hook and ult left unchanged. Sombra's rework changed about as much, with her passive being changed to invis, translocator rework, and a new ability, with the rest of her kit only getting balance adjustments.
That is certainly a rework...

@@flangalvin5368 I ain't accusing him of cheating, I saw the Moira healing the air. I just thought it was funny that he waited like a solid two seconds before shooting, without moving his crosshair at all, and still managed to direct hit the Sombra. It's just genuinely humorous lol

And yet again, people were overreacting due to the "CC" it has
Frankly, it's not that bad. It makes his hook combo a bit more reliable.
The thing that's holding him back right now is the changes to his breather, because yes, you can more easily avoid the counters, but the healing is less than half the speed and you get less damage reduction, so using it in combat can feel more like you're just blocking damage rather than actually healing up.
Old Breather was a bit vulnerable to getting disrupted, but if it went through, that was half your healthbar instantly back, so matter how many people were shooting at you. New Breather, you can hold it and use it up all the way and your healthbar didn't move at all because the enemy could tear through it at the same speed that you healed it. Except, the enemy has more bullets than you have vape juice.

Tbf, them playing some good counters (Ana/sojourn peppered and naded on cooldown) … and in qp where you may or may not have any team help or coordination

So the new Hog does feel like a fun kit but he still suffers from the same issues he's always had.
His heal needs to be 50% mitigation again (Cyx has gone into detail as to why), and as long as anti heal grenade exists in its current form...if Ana exists Hog falls over.
Basically: buff his damage mitigation back up and nerf anti nade to REDUCE healing...not nullify.

Love how pig pen does the following up on the hooks when your team won't
They didn't fix Hogs main problem. He couldn't tank. No mobility, shield or damage block. Then they took the only thing away that made him viable, his 1 shot. Now they added a chance to 1 shot with pig pen and do more consistent dmg but reduced his DR and made healing arguable worse. This is not the rework anyone wanted. Thumbs down
I love emongg but man he can't see the forest for the trees.
the main difference in the rework is his gun is actually quite good at tank vs tank duels, and the extra damage and slow from pigpen do help but it's not the core of the kit, the whole point now is to actually shoot people in the first person shooter.
I like emongg but the rework was about moving him away from this cooldown based afk half the game looking for hooks play style you can actually fight now, you can 4 shot a tank with nothing but your gun at 10 meters.
Before this hog basically lost every tank duel to tanks with stuns, so everyone except for junkerqueen, ramattra, and ball(but hog is good verse ball anyway).
Hog players when asked to actually use anything but cooldowns for free kills smh
