Planting Brassicas and Spinach

- Brassicas are a family of plants that include cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and many more. They are hardy plants and can be planted out at this time of the year if temperatures and conditions permit. They suffer from slug damage and cabbage white butterfly to name but two pests that attack them so netting and precautions are advised. In this video I plant out calabrese, cabbage, cauliflower, kale and spinach.

Great to get planting out, we ned this dry weather to stay now.
Certainly do Mike. The wind is helping to dry the ground
After I put the brassicas out, the slugs ignored the traps and went straight for the brassicas. I lost a couple.
Yea. I always loose some. The never ending slug war 😂
No doubt that by the time I'm watching this Jason, you've been out on slug patrol, fingers x'd...
Oh yes. Torch and scissors 😂
You just can’t help yourself 😂 you have to be in the dirt. Hopefully you won’t have too much frost or cold Jase 🤞. Have a great week ahead, take care, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
😂 yep. Same with house. Always building and altering. My mate says I obviously didn’t have a bucket and spade as a kid 😂😂
It's still cold at nights here on Vancouver Island, but I guess it is time to put some brassica seedlings out - there are no storms supposed to be coming through this next 7 days or so. And I have hoops and plastic to put over for any needed protection. You have provided inspiration.
Hi. Every country/area is different. Here in mid UK i normally plant out the hardy stuff late march/early April. Then hope for the best with fleece etc as back up. My last frost date is 20th April so not far away.
Hi Jase, great to get some veg planted, I've got onion sets in cells that are asking to be planted. I don't normally plant now but I'll have to put them out and cover them, I would like to send you a couple of pics of my plot by email, if that's ok 🙂. Steve Colwell
Hi Steve. My onions went out 3 weeks ago. But im further south as we know. Yes no problem send them accross. Id be interested to see. We all have different ideas etc on layout and styles of set up. If you are in agreement Ill inclue them in Sundays live? leatonveg@gmail.com
@@leatonveg That's great yeah please show them on the live, I've had over 1.5 K likes on some photos on FB groups, Ill send them over. Thanks Jase
Can sprouts be grown in pots? I can't plant them out as the dog seems to like them😂 will they be OK potted up in the greenhouse
Hi. Yes. But I’d say 15 ltr pots minimum. They prefer cool conditions so outside would be better
@leatonveg cheers Jase, how's the Hand ?
Hi Matt. Didn’t realise it was you earlier. It’s ok mate. Bit achy etc. just time and trying to stay clean 😂
