    What is Teppanyaki?

    Teppanyaki is typically cooked in front of guests on a large iron griddle, and the chef will often perform theatric knife skills while cooking.
    Common teppanyaki dishes include steak, chicken, shrimp, and vegetables.
    History of Teppanyaki in America
    The first teppanyaki restaurant in America was Benihana of Tokyo, which opened in New York City in 1964.
    The restaurant became popular for its theatrical cooking style, in which chefs would entertain guests by flipping shrimp tails into their hats or catching knives mid-air.
    The popularity of teppanyaki in America has grown since the opening of Benihana of Tokyo.

    Difference Between Teppanyaki vs Hibachi
    Teppanyaki and hibachi are both Japanese cooking styles that use a grill or griddle. They are similar in that they both use high heat to cook food quickly.

    I spent 20 years working my way up and becoming a chef and he's right. There are not many that you get that fulfillment from unless you are able to do it yourself.
