      Dude, you get it! This same feeling of living a smaller footprint, more self sufficient life has been something that has gripped me and my family. We're new to a large property and just started setting it up this year. I love your earth bag building. I would love to try making a sauna like that!

    Producers to consumers- our hugest mistake. You are an example of how we can once again become knowledgeable, hard working, and way less dependent. Happier, healthier, more satisfying lifestyle. Last couple years, on a smaller scale, I've been living more intentional, simply, self-sufficient. Feels like how I am meant to be living. Loving it. All the best 🌿

    HOA's can be beneficial. However, 99% of the time the power goes to peoples heads and they abuse their power. Thus, I would never move into a neighborhood with an HOA. Too many Karens

    Would people still wanna do things like this if the government and people in our society were decent as a result of getting the basic necessities from society? Don't get me wrong its cool and I'd do it too but it seems so lonely and without community and if we know about the US is hyper individualism is not good. It could be a start of a community of course too so idk. I think an entire community of nomads and van lifers and people like this guy would be dope.

    • @OffGrit
      @OffGrit ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So I think I get where you are coming from. I hear you.... The one thing I will say is that in our situation, we are choosing to do this.... A lot of people in the world don't have a choice. I have a family with 3 sons and have been married for over 20 years. I am also apart of many communities online as well as people who are inspired by learning to live a lifestyle of self sufficiency. I think there is a misunderstanding about self sufficiency and isolation. In fact being self sufficient is more of an idea than a reality....you never will be completely self sufficient...you always need help. This lifestyle has actually done the OPPOSITE of what you describe. I lived in the city for over 25 years with my family and it is the loneliest I have ever felt....and we had everything we needed; 2 story house, 3 cars, etc, etc. I guess what I am saying is that while yes there are some that are outcast from society...MOST that choose this lifestyle do it because they enjoy it and have more of a sense of community than ever.... 😎

    • @JihouGijutsu
      @JihouGijutsu ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@OffGrit yeah for sure and I appreciate the reply and insight and it makes sense. only thing I would add is that that sense of loneliness in the city and modern society is a result of a lack of culture surrounding community. Especially in the US.

    There’s a fine line between living with nature and unfortunately this is not the way. I commend you for trying to recycle however you have pretty much created a rubbish tip in your backyard.

    • @OffGrit
      @OffGrit ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh.... Really?? I love talking to experts such as yourself... You seem to know so much about me as well as the property that I purchased. Did you know that we spent the first year cleaning up the "rubbish" that was blocking our wash and half of this stuff you see was a result of that. I LOVE when someone watches a 20 minute video and they think they know everything about you... AMAZING 🤦🤦

      @@australianbirdgal2786 Getting a little creepy, are we? I have not purported to have a way and so I have nothing to tell you. But in keeping with your penchant for unsolicited judgement, you might find you have more positive interactions if you ask questions versus make assumptions. Maybe that is not what you are looking for, though, so best of luck in your online banter.
