I enjoyed the fight at the end. And I thought Jaehaerys' head was going to fall off when the carriage got stuck.

The only HotD review that matters! Yeah, Aemond's mommy issues scene was tough to watch for me too.

Definitely but I feel bad for Alecent because Viserys never let her protect her boys and she had no mother figure herself to look up

@@JessieBearBookClub I also feel awful for Alecent. And you're quite right, it's a lot of trauma being passed on to her.

Another quiet-ish episode overall, so much taken up by the death of the boy as Helaena calls him and it's after effects.
Hopefully things will heat up soon, a bit more action. It has to! The beginning of the episode with the reaction of the murder and funeral felt so long, I was just waiting for the transition to Dragonstone and Rhaenyra. I feel like the show needs to break things up better.
The fight between brothers was the highlight of the episode, a good ending to a quiet sombre episode. I was expecting all sorts in the flurry of the fight but not a double death. Very sad. Good characters gone while Criston lives and becomes more annoying and selfish each episode. He's always passing the blame to others instead of taking responsibility. Come on Alicent, you can do better than Criston.
The writers aren't doing Alicent much favours these past two episodes. These baths are like Alicents time to reflect and let off steam, no pun intended. When she was scrubbing her arm in the last episode, she almost looked like she was losing her mind like Lady Macbeth.
I didn't mind Aemonds nude scene, I understood it, like it was deliberately made to be uncomfortable, even the mistress was a little perplexed by him.
I want to see scenes or even a meeting of the minds between Aemond and Daemon. They look alike and have a deepness/darkness about them.
Aegon is sooo Joffrey lol. Otto had some great lines in this episode especially his argument with Aegon. Great seasoned actor which really helps the series.
Love Mysaria, a fascinating side character.
