Yes! Thank you for reviewing. I had noticed that as well (regarding mostly men reviewing a lot of these pens.) This was very helpful to see another woman actually hold the pen and your thoughts.
I recently got this in the Bock Nib version, and swapped the nib & feed for a Medium Bock Titanium. Very pleased with the results, springy and kind of flexy.
Great video! There are ways to make this Moonman nib write like butter. I have an M800 "galaxy", as Douglas would say, and, atfer some nib adjusting, it really writes like a dream. I also have my Moonman C1, "everyday pen", writing really well, sometimes on the M side!
I have a Moonman M600 and it came with a nib that had a good bit of feedback. It wasn't a pleasant writing experience until I smoothed it up. I also changed my ink from a very dry Chinese ink to a much wetter Montblanc ink. Now, I am very pleased with it.
Great video, Mrs. Kathy. I follow Mr. Douglas Rathbun and he had a lot to say (gush 🤩) about M800 as well as his comparison review to the Momento Zero. Love your video and looking forward to your full review.
Hi Marianne! After watching Doug's videos (multiple times each) I broke down and ordered an M800. It is so beautiful and it fits my hand perfectly, but it burps ink every so often, so I'm trying to figure out how to correct that issue.
I have the exact same pen...it arrived last month. I know what you mean about the writing experience. They are blah for me so I just ran it across some micromesh and widen the tines a bit with a brass sheet and now it's better....more wet. BUT like you I am thinking to put a Nemosine 0.6 or 0.8 in it. The ink is almost finished up and then I will. Looking forward to your video about it.
I haven't done anymore writing with the Moonman nib since the initial writing test in this video. I have done several writing tests since installing the Nemosine 0.6 stub and I'm having trouble with it burping. ☹️
Unfortunately my m800 burps ink on a regular basis. My Nemosine Singularity had a similar issue and I was never able to find a way to correct the problem.
Kathy, I have a stupid question. I bought a Bock #6 nib UNIT for my penBBS 267 which does not fit. Is there any other pen that this Bock nib will fit? I feel like I just wasted my money, because I read where that some said it did fit, or will it fit this Moonman pen? I even bought the PENBBS adapter pack. NO GO.. unless I am doing something wrong. Which is completely likely.
I have 2 M800s: Purple with Bock nib (was perfect out of the box) and Amber with Moonman nib (Came with badly misaligned tines). Once I aligned tines it was perfectly smooth, but nothing special. I also have what looks like a tiny scratch that was polished over, but on the barrel, not on a finial, but barely noticeable. I put JoWo Broad nib from AndersonPens into my amber one and it is a great. Nemosine nibs are too dry for me. Converters you get dependent on a supplier. My purple came with a decent converter, while amber came with a cheap one that you cant even take apart.
I'm still using the Nemosine 0.6 stub nib in mine and I've been able to tune it to write to my taste. I really enjoy this pen. It fits my hand well, and is comfortable to write with for long periods of time.
The only real difference I've found between my M800s (I have two; Amber and Galaxy blue) and my Momento Zero is the converter in the MZ extends through a blind cap at the back of the barrel. The converter also screws into the section and the section is completely acrylic on the MZ. Your Mnemosyne nib will be an upgrade from either the M800 or the MZ. Some M800s are available with Bock nibs and they are the same as the MZ nibs. I've had many #6 Moonman fine nibs and they are not exceptional. The Bock nib that was on my M800 Amber is okay now that I've tuned it a bit. Both MZ nibs would not write out of the box. (I bought a Broad and a medium). I've had the Broad ground into an architect italic and the medium professionally tuned and is now in my M800 Amber. My MZ Blue Hawaii acrylic is stunning. The M800's only come in four colours where you can get a Momento Zero in a dizzying number of acrylics and even a Grande size.
I've had the Nemosine nib in the m800 for a couple days now. It starts out writing nicely but gradually gets drier, then gradually gets wetter, then it burps. The m800 has the exact same feed as the Nemosine Singularity and the Jinhao x750. Instead of burping, my two Singularitys continuously leak ink, but my two Jinhao x750s write well. I think the issue is with the sleeve that hold the nib and feed. I haven't found any information about the m800 burping, but I've been reading forums that address the leaky Nemosine...no solution to the leaking has been found. ☹️
gadgetstop321 How interesting! I’d really love you to make a video about that burping, and your investigation of it, regardless of if it is remedied or not. What makes you think that the nib collar is the problem?
I have 2 Moonman M800 (blue and amber) When I received the blue it had an intense solvent smell. The amber when it arrived also had the same intense solvent smell. I've never had a pen with that degree of stench. I was able to reduce the smell significantly by filling the cap and body each half full with dawn dishwashing soap and then the rest with water. I soaked it overnight. Swabbed and then ultrasonic cleaned in the morning. Everything else I tried with the blue had virtually no effect (so didn't retry that with the amber when it arrived) Now they both are tolerable smell wise. I got them both with the Bock nib and they write just as well as my Momento Zero with the Bock nib (go figure😊).
I just went and smelled my Moonman M800. The outside has no smell, but the inside of the cap and barrel have a strong smell that I hadn't noticed before. Does your Momento Zero have a similar smell on the inside?
My Momento Zero had no smell on the inside. I also have a Momento Zero in celluloid that has a smell of camphor which is to be expected and not unpleasant. That one has an amazing gold nib.
When I first saw the nemosine 0.6 and 0.8mm stubs I thought they were interesting but I ignored them because I really, at the time was new to fountain pens. I regret so much not getting them b/c currently my favorite nib is my TWSBI 1.1 stub and having a small stub like that would be so nice. The closest I can see is the Pilot MC 1.0 stub but I don't tend to care for the pilot nibs and even still 1.0 is so large
Birmingham Pens sells the Nemosine replacement nibs, but you have to have a pen that takes #6 nibs, like a Jinhao x750. This m800 will take a #6 nib, but it burps ink a lot, so I can't recommend it until I get that issue sorted out.
gadgetstop321 yes the resins are gorgeous! I have a Momento Positano and a Grande Dark Hawaii which are spectacular- I have my eyes in the Momento Grande Sunflower which should be back in stock mid August. I have been able to buy a lot of fountain pens second hand which has worked out well.
The Positano was the first one that caught my eye and there have been others that made me take a second look. But the Sunflower is such a unique combination of colors, it might be the one that I break down and get.
I love my Moonman M800s!! I hadn’t thought about the fact that there aren’t any female reviews of the pen. I will do a review on my channel too so there will be two female reviews 😜
Cool, I'll be watching for your review! Does your M800 have a Moonman or a Bock nib? I replaced my Moonman nib with a Nemosine 0.6 stub and now it burps ink. I'm researching solutions to the burping issue because I also love this pen and really want to get it working properly.
gadgetstop321 I got the one with the bock nib but I have an m8 coming tomorrow with the regular moonman nib to do a nib swap. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Oh, I bet you have an x750 lying around you could have stuck it in! I just ordered a Jinhao 991 (93¢) from China to hold a specialty nib I also just ordered from China. I guess I am not in a hurry.
I have two Jinhao x750 pens that write well with the Nemosine nibs, but I was looking for something a little more light weight that I could fit in the elastic of my traveler's notebook. Unfortunately my new m800 burps regularly...so until I can find a solution, I'm back to using my Pilot pens.
I thought the same thing when I first saw this style of grip section on a Leonardo Momento Zero, but everyone assured me that it was comfortable...and they were correct!
Yes! Thank you for reviewing. I had noticed that as well (regarding mostly men reviewing a lot of these pens.) This was very helpful to see another woman actually hold the pen and your thoughts.
such a soothing voice and great video. Thanks for all the efforts you make to enlighten the FP community
You're welcome Salah! I enjoy making these videos and I glad that others find them helpful.
I got a green Moonman 800 with the Bock nib and it writes amazingly! It's my everyday pen at the office :-)
I'm glad to hear that! I think I've got my Moonman M800 figured out.
I recently got this in the Bock Nib version, and swapped the nib & feed for a Medium Bock Titanium. Very pleased with the results, springy and kind of flexy.
I've never written with a titanium nib. That's something I'd like to try someday.
Very beautiful fountain pen...
Thank you Nelson. It is very beautiful but I'm having trouble with it burping ink, so I'm trying to figure out how to correct that issue.

Unfortunately my m800 burps ink on a regular basis. My Nemosine Singularity had a similar issue and I was never able to find a way to correct the problem.
gadgetstop321 oh no. Is that common in moonman pens?
I don't know. This is the first Moonman pen I've ever tried.
