Aight so like. Hear me out. Theorizing some potential fun ideas for this agent. I’m thinking this agent could specialize in trapping more so than info gathering, which could fill a niche within the sentinel role Signature (it’s a long one, so I’ll break it up into parts): Essentially you can “draw” your own line of tripwiring up until a certain length, and the maximum length will be determined by a vine gauge atop your abilities. Equipping the skill gives you a “root bulb”. This root bulb cannot be retrieved once the round starts, so you’ll have to commit to it like a viper wall. When you alt-fire with this skill for the first time, you will plant the root bulb at your current location and shift to the root bulb’s perspective (like a skye dog). You’ll create a “tail bulb” and make a trail of vines that stick to the ground and walls as you move (yes you can move onto walls too). The vine gauge will increase as you plant more and stops growing more vines/stops movement when you reach its max. You can, however, backtrack and recover some of the vines to then move to a different spot. Alt-fire again to exit this mode. Using your primary fire while this skill is equipped will make the vines sprout and continuously slither between its surfaces, slowing anyone caught within them and immediately dealing 5 damage to enemies that come into contact with it. If any enemy stops while touching the vines, they’ll also receive 5 damage when they move again (changing movement to the complete opposite direction will technically count as stopping+moving again). When the vines are active, your vine gauge will deplete over time. When it fully depletes or by pressing your skill button again, your vine trail will retract proportionately. Also note that if enemies can shoot your tail bulb to shorten your vine’s active duration, and shooting the root bulb will completely disable your vines + place it on cooldown for a long time. Ok that was really long. Let’s maybe go over the other potential ideas: Another ability would be an Area Slow that can be remotely detonated. You’ll deploy it by running it through the ground, it’ll travel forward and bounce off walls like a raze boombot, and it’ll plant itself upon reactivating the skill or after a certain distance (you could also plant it at your current location by alt firing). The vines could rise up from the ground and extend vertically and linger for a while-so midair movement is also slowed down. The unique feature here is it may also slow down any utility’s velocity when it passes through (raze nades, sova darts, etc.) It won’t block visibility, but it may make a sound cue when enemies are caught by the vines. These vines are, however, breakable once activated. It will take a little bit of firing to get through them though. Another one could potentially be a a simple Briar trap. It plants itself into the ground in a zone around your current location and waits for enemies to walk over it. Upon detection, it sprouts up after a delay (with a visual cue that it’s about to activate) and deals 10 damage to them + makes a little thorny pierce sound cue. A special interaction you can do with this skill is to combine it with your signature skill by pressing F while looking at your root bulb. I HAVE AN IDEA FOR A SENTINEL INITIATOR ABILITY a trap you can throw For example it will be like a fade seize that you can throw but once it lands it will become a trap that will set off when enemies are in the trap
I think that the first ability you discussed could give the gravnet effect and if they break out it gives you a notifier or makes a special noise that you trapped them with the vines

why not a vine on the ground where when you walk over, hurt you a little and slows? like a sage slow, but hurting and maybe you can activate it like a cypher cage (cool sentinel concept) it being one of the skills or the ultimate itself (you activate like a brim ult or harbor ult) and it forces the enemy to hide or else the are slowed and taking damage
The others he talks about in the video Freeze + small range Cove (but with vines) Shockbot 3000 (without healing) + Bigger range (Vague) Damaging ability (like many Apex ults)
i think a really cool signature ability would be a vine wall kinda like a sage wall but it relies on a meter like skye’s heal. you could use all your vines to create a super strong wall on one choke or you can make tons of weak walls around different entry points to the site. you could create vine boxes that teammates could jump on for off angles and stuff too
You’re not wrong, but Breach’s ult quite literally throws you into the air leaving you stunned, Harbor’s also stuns you and forces you to move if you want to avoid it. Viper’s puts you at a significant disadvantage by losing health instantly. Ults intentionally make fights in your favor.
The orb could be a really good idea, if it was a vines orb and it could maybe slow you when you attempt to enter it and hurt you, could be used to gain information. Maybe, only that agent could go in and out without damage taken, including the other same agent on a different team. Maybe if it was a good enough wall kind of like the harbor wall or shield but also doing damage to all other players excluding ALL players od the new agent
They have so much potential i believe shes gonna be a initiator controller or sentinel it can depend i see her throwing vines out like iso ult that ensnares them like deadlocks net, she could also use her vines to potentially block or make a wall like safe but ur able to walk through it but ur slow and u take damage, maybe she makes a flower and they act as land mines that u can stick to the wall and it pops making them vulnerable if near it. I feel like her ult will either act as kill joins or harbors but instead of concussing or detaining it slows and ensnares them.

the thing is that riot often tease the ult of the new agent which makes me think the flower is similar to deadlock ult like it catch some opponent and detained them inside the flower until they die or released and from the moving vine teaser i think it works like breach and iso ult
the ult can be an area if in the area you get whipped by a vine and get Concussion and 10 damage every 5 seconds (the ult lasts for 35 seconds) kinda like harbor

I love the concepts off of so little we have to work with, but they would just be Deadlock 2 to me. I agree they'll probably influence timings and rotations, but I don't think they will have a throwable akin to Deadlocks gravnet. Love the idea of barbed wire areas and traps that slow down rotations by rooting on an area. However, it feels very equivalent to what Deadlock was trying to accomplish but failed to do. I'm hoping they're more unique than that.
That's fair, I think Deadlocke needs some work so hoping Riot is cooking something up with her because she has definitely fallen short of where she should be.
Not sure if they look at other games for agent/character ideas. I think just in a class based fps game there isnt that many agent ideas you can have without fundimentally changing the game so games come up with the same agent ideas coincidentally, but they probably think of ideas, then look at the other games and see what they did with an idea to see what they should do.
I agree, they can't take directly from other games because those games work differently from one another, but they do seem to be inspired by similar abilities that have been tried in other games. It's just a matter of figuring out how it would work in their games when they get inspired.
I think it's gon be an agent that metal spiked skills cause bleed over time (like viper decay but permanent, and less damage) like, same function of deadlock E, but they can go trhough, but take damooge
I think the vines (however they are deployed) will slow the player down (like sage ice orb), AND damage them while they are moving through it. This makes the player either take damage to get away or stay and fight. I can also Imagine a Flower that is placed on they ground or wall that when it detects a player nearby, it will blind them (with spores or something). We have Sentinals with stuns and detections, but I would love to see one that either inflicts paranoia or a blindness similar to Omen's blind.
theres actually a somewhat sequecy off agent releases, controllers, iniciators/controllers, sentinels, duelist, and controllers/initiators, for an example harbor-gekko-deadlock-iso-clove (but fade came before harbor, but if you go do the official sequency of agent releases you can see some type of pattern )
imagine if the "tripwire" vines can be broken by your teammate, forcing their crosshair to change to a teammate to free themselves instead of holding an angle, marking them in the map, and could be useful for your teammate to fight the angle, so the enemy hahas to either try and break the vines from their teammates or staying caught holding the angle, so it's balanced. as for the vine that throws thorns, it could be like the molleys from killjoy, a huge seed or ball of vines that blossom into a rose on the floor that you can detonate by pressing F, maybe it could leave a "bleeding" effect where you lose like 80health total by a certain period of time of like 6 seconds if you are caught within range
The character will most likely be best suited for abyss. So something like an omen teleport and a wall of thorns like a mini harbor + mini sage. Plus vines/thorns always means a slow that damages enemies if they walk over it. It's a video game rule.
Ability ideas. A Placable that detects enemies nearby and blooms, it blocks off an entrance, like a Sage wall, you cant see through it, you can shoot through it, but you cant walk through it, to destroy it you have to knife it. A ability that spreads a membrane that when Hit Pings the enemy on the map or does a little Cyoher Reveal. A little guy that you move and control to gather intel, or root in place like a KJ turret or Cypher Cam For an ULT, maybe Something like a World of thorns, A KJ or Kay/O maybe a Bit of Both size ult that covers the Site with a whole bunch of Traps, Thorns that slow maybe Damage the enemies. I imagine a Harbor Indicator that if the enemies dont get out of the Plant stabs them or Roots them in place. It doesnt Move it stays at site.
The placable seems like something agent could have, but I think it’s too similar to Deadlocke’s. The membrane idea is kind of cool, reminds me of another R6 agent that reveals people when they shoot it.
What if the vines acted like vision control? Like you set them up on hallways and doorways and you’ll always be able to see enemies that pass over them. So retaking would be more difficult since you’d know where they’re coming from.
Maybe the Ultimate could be something like Omen ultimate, He can move trough vine's in the ground in a stealth way, or maybe a Range ability that slow down people in the Ultimate Range that the Player decided to affect specifically, slowing their walk speed of a 50% making it easier to spot them if they we're peeking or even rotating, slowing the entire enemy team down maybe, the first ability could be the same as the Deadlock net but extended, something that you can throw that you have to absorb, just can't get out of it by pressing you need to stay on it until it disappears, like a cage, you can still walk but it slow's you down, and i expect something like a Flash or a Stun flower, a flower that can be placed like Cypher wires and if you step in it then it could actually stun you for 3/4 second's, it's just confusional, i don't know how riot will make that agent and it feels like they don't have that much of option's than, making something like a disguised flower that you can disguise yourself as a flower maybe, or just travel underground for short distances like Omen, i don't know man.
@mexx you forget Cypher also reveals with a slowing & tethering trap that can be destroyed. An indestructible slowing trap will NOT reveal or alert. That would be too broken. OR it will last a short time, like Deadlock's netnade.
You’re right actually, but the primary role of the trip is to hold people back, not so much reveal. Someone mentioned earlier that it might work better if it only revealed if you tried to move, but if you stood in place it might not, which I think would be a cool concept.
Ngl having vines that reveal u when u are in them and slow you would be super broken cause u could set them up deep in choke points and just leave it and stack somewhere else and if they go in the vines u get info and time to rotate
It def could be, but I think unlike the Fade's Eye or Sova's Arrow, the reveal would have to not linger, or only reveal if you're moving within the ability.
I think the new agent will have a power like omens blind only that instead of blind the agents who get caught in vines will slow and recive damage over time .
i have a feeling that if this vine thing is truly the new agent's whole theme (like cloves butterflies , kj's tech, etc.) then i wonder if her origin will be a country in either south america or southeast asia. the vines remind me of a rainforest/jungle, yk? one thing that vines symbolize is connection, so when i think about the new agent's abilities, i think of one similar to that of fade's "seize" ability, pulling enemies either to a certain spot, or to you. for another skill, going off of vines symbolizing "connection" and also "strength/resilience/life" i believe that they couldeven have a healing ability similar to skye's, vines could connect from the agent to your teammate(s), within a certain radius of course, healing them or buffing them. as an ultimate, i think of one similar to deadlocks or (like you said,) fade's, where thevines will either come up from the ground and deal damage/slow/reveal/concuss enemies or they'll come from the agent and link/connect to an enemy with her vines and either deal damage over time or pull them into the agent's position/reveal them.

its gonna be a agent thats listed as missing from the missing list, its gonna be number 4, 8 or 11 from the information i gathered but other then that i don't know much more
C: "Creepvine". Deploy vines in a lane that reveal enemies and slow them down. The vines will slowly grow across the affected lane and cover the entire lane for a limited amount of time.
Q: "Thistlewhip". A deployable snare that captures airborne enemies when triggered and pulls them to the ground, as well as destroying utility and temporarily stopping any enemies in the radius. Triggered with proximity.
E: "Cultivate". Deploy a cluster of thorns, each covering a small area that can be avoided or destroyed, but will alert the agent if destroyed, and will halt an advance for a bit as the enemies have to watch where they are going.

I think the way that enemies would counter the vines is removing it like deadlock's net

The one thing I definitely lack knowledge on is the Lore side of things, I didn’t know the new agent was already coming up on Lore pieces.
the thing is that riot often tease the ult of the new agent
which makes me think the flower is similar to deadlock ult
like it catch some opponent and detained them inside the flower until they die or released
and from the moving vine teaser i think it works like breach and iso ult
I can imagine the agent having purple vines a oldish look and probably went on a adventure
the ult can be an area if in the area you get whipped by a vine and get Concussion and 10 damage every 5 seconds (the ult lasts for 35 seconds) kinda like harbor
It would be cool since the concept includes an hourglass, imagine the player can rewind themselves a few seconds early from where they previously went and regain a few bits of their health.
Another ultimate:-Jungle of wines/ slowing down spike timer
imagine the ult is a pulse from the agent like he said but it damages and detains the enemies and makes them freeze by locking their hands and feet so the enemies either have to leave site or cant enter site
maybe something like apex watson where instead of the elctricity gate its barbed wire
I love the concepts off of so little we have to work with, but they would just be Deadlock 2 to me. I agree they'll probably influence timings and rotations, but I don't think they will have a throwable akin to Deadlocks gravnet. Love the idea of barbed wire areas and traps that slow down rotations by rooting on an area. However, it feels very equivalent to what Deadlock was trying to accomplish but failed to do. I'm hoping they're more unique than that.
That's fair, I think Deadlocke needs some work so hoping Riot is cooking something up with her because she has definitely fallen short of where she should be.
Not sure if they look at other games for agent/character ideas. I think just in a class based fps game there isnt that many agent ideas you can have without fundimentally changing the game so games come up with the same agent ideas coincidentally, but they probably think of ideas, then look at the other games and see what they did with an idea to see what they should do.
I agree, they can't take directly from other games because those games work differently from one another, but they do seem to be inspired by similar abilities that have been tried in other games. It's just a matter of figuring out how it would work in their games when they get inspired.
I think it's gon be an agent that metal spiked skills cause bleed over time (like viper decay but permanent, and less damage)

I think the vines (however they are deployed) will slow the player down (like sage ice orb), AND damage them while they are moving through it. This makes the player either take damage to get away or stay and fight. I can also Imagine a Flower that is placed on they ground or wall that when it detects a player nearby, it will blind them (with spores or something).
We have Sentinals with stuns and detections, but I would love to see one that either inflicts paranoia or a blindness similar to Omen's blind.
Honestly think they could go kinda an Astra route where they can place patches of vines and activate them as abilities later on in the round
yeah some people have mentioned the trap routes and I kind of like that as well
theres actually a somewhat sequecy off agent releases, controllers, iniciators/controllers, sentinels, duelist, and controllers/initiators, for an example harbor-gekko-deadlock-iso-clove (but fade came before harbor, but if you go do the official sequency of agent releases you can see some type of pattern )
imagine if the "tripwire" vines can be broken by your teammate, forcing their crosshair to change to a teammate to free themselves instead of holding an angle, marking them in the map, and could be useful for your teammate to fight the angle, so the enemy hahas to either try and break the vines from their teammates or staying caught holding the angle, so it's balanced.
as for the vine that throws thorns, it could be like the molleys from killjoy, a huge seed or ball of vines that blossom into a rose on the floor that you can detonate by pressing F, maybe it could leave a "bleeding" effect where you lose like 80health total by a certain period of time of like 6 seconds if you are caught within range

So something like an omen teleport and a wall of thorns like a mini harbor + mini sage.
Plus vines/thorns always means a slow that damages enemies if they walk over it. It's a video game rule.

Ability ideas. A Placable that detects enemies nearby and blooms, it blocks off an entrance, like a Sage wall, you cant see through it, you can shoot through it, but you cant walk through it, to destroy it you have to knife it.
A ability that spreads a membrane that when Hit Pings the enemy on the map or does a little Cyoher Reveal.
A little guy that you move and control to gather intel, or root in place like a KJ turret or Cypher Cam
For an ULT, maybe Something like a World of thorns, A KJ or Kay/O maybe a Bit of Both size ult that covers the Site with a whole bunch of Traps, Thorns that slow maybe Damage the enemies. I imagine a Harbor Indicator that if the enemies dont get out of the Plant stabs them or Roots them in place. It doesnt Move it stays at site.
The placable seems like something agent could have, but I think it’s too similar to Deadlocke’s. The membrane idea is kind of cool, reminds me of another R6 agent that reveals people when they shoot it.
i think if it as an initiator with post-plant abilities as the teaser was centered around the spike and other post-plant abilities

What if the vines acted like vision control? Like you set them up on hallways and doorways and you’ll always be able to see enemies that pass over them. So retaking would be more difficult since you’d know where they’re coming from.

Maybe the Ultimate could be something like Omen ultimate, He can move trough vine's in the ground in a stealth way, or maybe a Range ability that slow down people in the Ultimate Range that the Player decided to affect specifically, slowing their walk speed of a 50% making it easier to spot them if they we're peeking or even rotating, slowing the entire enemy team down maybe, the first ability could be the same as the Deadlock net but extended, something that you can throw that you have to absorb, just can't get out of it by pressing you need to stay on it until it disappears, like a cage, you can still walk but it slow's you down, and i expect something like a Flash or a Stun flower, a flower that can be placed like Cypher wires and if you step in it then it could actually stun you for 3/4 second's, it's just confusional, i don't know how riot will make that agent and it feels like they don't have that much of option's than, making something like a disguised flower that you can disguise yourself as a flower maybe, or just travel underground for short distances like Omen, i don't know man.
Another ability might be with time where affected agents will be warped back in time like 5 sec similar to distruptors ability from dota2.

you forget Cypher also reveals with a slowing & tethering trap that can be destroyed.
An indestructible slowing trap will NOT reveal or alert. That would be too broken. OR it will last a short time, like Deadlock's netnade.
You’re right actually, but the primary role of the trip is to hold people back, not so much reveal. Someone mentioned earlier that it might work better if it only revealed if you tried to move, but if you stood in place it might not, which I think would be a cool concept.
Ngl having vines that reveal u when u are in them and slow you would be super broken cause u could set them up deep in choke points and just leave it and stack somewhere else and if they go in the vines u get info and time to rotate
It def could be, but I think unlike the Fade's Eye or Sova's Arrow, the reveal would have to not linger, or only reveal if you're moving within the ability.
I think the new agent will have a power like omens blind only that instead of blind the agents who get caught in vines will slow and recive damage over time .
i have a feeling that if this vine thing is truly the new agent's whole theme (like cloves butterflies , kj's tech, etc.) then i wonder if her origin will be a country in either south america or southeast asia. the vines remind me of a rainforest/jungle, yk? one thing that vines symbolize is connection, so when i think about the new agent's abilities, i think of one similar to that of fade's "seize" ability, pulling enemies either to a certain spot, or to you. for another skill, going off of vines symbolizing "connection" and also "strength/resilience/life" i believe that they couldeven have a healing ability similar to skye's, vines could connect from the agent to your teammate(s), within a certain radius of course, healing them or buffing them. as an ultimate, i think of one similar to deadlocks or (like you said,) fade's, where thevines will either come up from the ground and deal damage/slow/reveal/concuss enemies or they'll come from the agent and link/connect to an enemy with her vines and either deal damage over time or pull them into the agent's position/reveal them.
I feel like the ability should be like a mini version of deadlock ult but not like hold them down literally it’s a get over here we can grab items, including the spike. I can only be used once per round.
I have a feeling it’s going to be an initiator next because they’ve released Gekko (initiator) Iso (Duelist) Deadlock (sentinel) and Clove (controller)
