My aunt had a house in Aboyne when I was 12, and my brother and I spent the summer mountain biking in the hills around the village. I’ve been waiting for this video since you announced it, and I was not disappointed. This was a shot of nostalgia, even though I never rode those trails. I’m from Canada and I watch this channel because I love mountain biking and I love Scotland, because of Aboyne.
Stoked for you and your deal with 20twenty bikes, will try and use them in the future. Happy to support a shop that's supports smaller platforms, particularly one as good as this, had so many good suggestions for Scottish riding for my holidays from your channel over the years, so looking forward to seeing it grow further! Nice one man!
Spent last week riding Ballater, Aboyne and Banchory , best few days ever , what an experience riding so much granite rock and those slabs, the builders have built masterpieces in all locations, big difference what I’m used to at Ardgarten
I really enjoyed this film that I had not caught up with previously on your channel. I was intrigued to exactly where this was as I grew up just up the road in Tarland and started my Banking career in Aboyne and cycled to work and back daily on my road bike then I got a Kawasaki Trail Bike before moving into Aberdeen in 1983. I reckoned I knew most of the back roads but as mountain bike routes were not invented in those days my knowledge is a bit out of date. I will certainly be looking into where this is so I can add it to my places to visit in the summer when I take my Nduro6 with me to Banchory when I visit my Mum & Sister not that I will wait that long to visit them. I need to visit 20Twenty in Banchory as well.
I don’t know enough about the area to tell you for sure, but what I will say is that all these trails are within a mile or two of Abyone. The guys at 20Twenty will be able to tell you for certain though👍
That was excellent. Master Blaster is one of my favourite trails so it was good seeing you do it Andy. Not done Relish yet but big shout out as well to the Birse Community Trust as they openly encourage mountain bike access. If you're looking for another trail that is a great laugh you should try the Fungle singletrack. Aboyne is some place though wish I could live there, maybe one day!
Another fantastic video from You Andrew 👊. And that blue trail a proper blast! Mike was killing it! He's got some serious skills! It's fantastic feeling when You know the trail very well and rode it many times, only then You can enjoy it to the fullest. Great video guys!
Once again you make me envious. Between the tighter, rockier, rootier & steeper first three trails, and the rocky-but-flatter 4th, and the fast manicured last trail, that place has everything you could want in that climate/topography. The mossy, green woods in the first half of the video are awesome, I don't get to ride in areas like that without lots of traveling. Good riding you were doing, even if you felt cruddy. All those trails are perfect for the capabilities of modern FS bikes. I bet the Deviate is nice in the chunky stuff, eh? Congrats on that partnership with the bike shop. Good for both of you.
some sweet riding on mega trails dude, big shout to the 20twenty bikes crew - their shop looks epic with those deviate frames and components hanging up - Aboyne trails look well nice, cheers
Loved the vid Andy 👍and so nice to see people are seeing the value in your videos to give you support and hope to see more support by other companies in the future you deserve it with all the work you put into it , top job 🔥🔥I got my first free mtb jersey a couple of months ago from a bike shop and I was so happy 😁
Ace to see you riding more of my local stuff, love Aboyne 😍. Need to pop down to try relish not been yet - looks great, and it’s only 45mins doon the road too…
Soooo sick. Planning an Aberdeenshire trip in September. Day in Aboyne. Day in Ballater. Trip to see 20Twenty bikes! I messaged them a year or so back about bike hire advice for the area - couldn't have been more helpful with recommendations. Sadly broke my foot so never made that trip... Great vid as always
Absolutely love this video ❤️. The trails look absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for sharing 👍. Interesting about your hub. My Hope hub did something similar last year in France 🤷♂️. Glad you have it fixed
hi, great trail. Can I ask where you have the camera located here? Chest mount or helmet mounted? sometimes it seems to me that the stabilization on the chest is weak. thanks for the answer and good luck.
This particular video was chest mounted with the Max lens mod on. Not my usual setup, but I thought it done a good job in the better lit scenes. Low light wasn’t quite so good.
great vid as always - is that deviate a quiet bike? it always seems super stealth like has no cable chatter or chain chatter? or does the camera microphone just not pick it up?
It’s a super quiet bike, if anything the GoPro can pick up more than you usually notice on the trail. A silent hub and quieter suspension would improve this even further.
@@McTrailRider thanks bud - do you get any rattling from the one up dropper post at all or has it been quiet? im really tempted by a highlander but not tried a HP yet
@@didzy9349 there is a little side to side play on the Oneup post, but I don’t believe it’s audible. Deviate are having a demo weekend at Comrie Croft this weekend. Don’t know where you are located of course.
@@McTrailRider thanks man, I’ve heard of a rattle on the one ups which is quite bad you’d notice it if you had it, sounds like yours is working well! Cool it’s little far to travel that’s the only problem really! Next frame swap I shall look into it further defo but think a ride is wise first - congrats on the team up with 20/20 deserved by far the best mtb uk channel by a country mile

Can’t argue with that statement 👍

It’s my favourite area for biking right now, and for obvious reason👌

Very much a great eclectic mix of trails, that’s why I love the riding in the north east so much 👌
Deviate loves it all!
Those were some really nice trails. Great news on the support. I've used 20twenty bikes in the the past for one up component gear.
They sell a lot of Oneup stuff👍 That’s what just brought my attention to them.

Fantastic trails 👌
Absolutely love the terrain around deeside. I really should put in more of an effort to go there rather than always heading to tweed valley.
I wondered how long it would take you to get to here Aboyne. Glad you enjoyed it but there's plenty more trails here to ride.
I will definitely be back up Stephen, the riding in the area is fantastic 👌
Great videos as usual….the last trail looked awesome 🤘🤘
Probably the best blue trail in Scotland that one 👌
Great vid as always, good news on twenty 20 👍
Thanks Wayne
That looked fast a.f......epic trails!
Felt fast on those last trails, especially when I hadn’t seen them before🙈
Hey Andrew, was the 2nd line you did Rattus? I've done it before but don't think I encountered that slab?
I’m not sure what trail it was tbh, and we took a few forks on the way down too.
bit late but yes that was Rattus. The slab is an alternative line on the trail.
