I like to imagine the subtitles exist in universe as the explanation as to how everyone understands each other even when they're all speaking different languages
This was so frustrating, which is a shame as it did two of the things I have been begging the main story to do, have characters acknowledge Jin's villainy in Tekken 6 and focus on characters outside of the Mishimas. Unfortunately, they did this in the worst way possible. Eddy immediately forgave Jin unconditionally, so the first idea was rendered meaningless, and the time we spent with the new characters was pointless as all their character development happened offscreen, they did nothing significant and were then unceremoniously defeated. I know, they have a power scale to maintain, but since Heihachi was still recovering and still isn't ready with his plan after the main story, they could have easily had them temporarily incapacitate him and force him to retreat. Barring that, they could have easily given them some kind of meaningful character interaction with Heihachi. Imagine if he offered Yoshimitsu assistance with rebuilding the Manji Clan, promised Eddy revenge on Kazuya and told Lidia the truth about her family cooperating with him in the past (as was hinted at in some of her bios), that would have made their decision to oppose him actually mean something. Speaking of Heihachi, everything about his story was terrible. His character development and nuance from Tekken 7 was thrown out the window. The way he survived was idiotic and made no logistical sense, Kazuya was watching the entire time (it also contradicts his intro dialogues, which state that he fell in the lava), the Tekken Monks ended up being insignificant and his memory returning felt completely contrived. I was actually looking forward to his return, but this was garbage. Honestly, it would have been better if they showed the story of how Lidia and Yoshimitsu saved Eddy from Kazuya, and just had Heihachi be badass enough to survive through sheer willpower and climb out of the volcano of his own volition, the way they did it was the worst of both worlds, a nonsensical explanation while making him look weak. P.S. I hope subsequent DLCs act as Sequels rather than prequels. We already know that no major character development or changes to the status quo will happen in this time period, so prequels feel pointless in this instance.
Honestly pretty much agree with everything you are saying and this comes from a story sympathizer of the Tekken series 😅. Not a fan of how heihachi came back. Like you said either sheer willpower or my hope for heihachis survival was just actual supernatural resurrection. Tekken is already as goofy as boxing recreated dinosaurs and karate bears and as crazy as demons and devils becoming world powers, Aztec inspired fighting gods and so forth. It really wouldn’t have been far fetched to have these Tekken monks just somehow bring heihachi back from the dead. And yet they did this last second saving angle which actually is even less logical and feels cheap and stupid. As for eddy and lidia, they are dope characters and they got at least something to do. I’m less unhappy with their stuff than heihachi. But I agree that eddy (and basically everybody) forgiving Jin is just kind of lame and weakens side character stories. And anybody truly believing heihachi will become peaceful is just a dumb move, especially on our protagonists part. I still love Tekken 8 and the main story was pretty darn good in my eyes and this game is so crisp and awesome. I only hope if they make more story dlcs, that they are better than this one.
Well Jin's actions in causing a genocidal war was a stupid plot point to begin with that I don't understand why Harada wanted him to be a Villain. It was meant to push Lars as a new protagonist but they could've EASILY done that without going down that dumb rabbit hole. It honestly would've made more sense for Kazuya to cause a genocidal war since he was after the Devil's Full power and wanted to kill Heihachi once and for all. As for the old man himself, they should've let him off for a game or two and just brought him back later on as a legacy character, but his role in the story is done for good. Bringing him back to the narrative doesn't add anything and just makes progress worse since 7 means nothing now!
If the nuance and development from T7 came at the cost of outright contradicting his character from previous games instead of functioning as an elaboration on what he did (Like originally wanting the devil gene for himself) then it was poorly done. With how 6 and 7 butchered Jin and Hei I just imagined that Heihachi was just lying to the reporter and the world about hating devils to make himself seem more sympathetic and justified like how Kazuya did in 6 to play the hero angle versus Jin's world war...or Heihachi straight up did in 7 by exposing Kazuya's devil form to get people on the zaibatsu's side. I may be a bit biased against Hei and the similar return of M. Bison, but outside of their stories, them returning at all show a refusal for change or progression in the story. They were never going to truly change so them coming back is just repeating story beats. Edit: Despite the timing not working as it was shown, the only excuse I can see for Kazuya not being a massive doofus because he didn't watch Heihachi hit the lava was Akuma throwing that gohadou to unintentionally distract him while Seiryu *somehow* came in for the save.
So let me get this straight: Heihachi didn't much survive being thrown into a volcano but was save by these Tekken Monks and upon recovering he suffered AMNESIA!? (Heihachi = Bison?) Not only that but he need to go through some trails to stay as the sane Heihachi until the final day where at the time Jin & Kazuya are fighting on a asteroid did it fell and Heihachi caught it and headbutted it until explodes, causing him to gain back his memories. And not only that he went back to the temple and beat up every single Tekken monks including the ones that SAVED HIS LIFE, then proceeds to beat and "supposively" kill off Eddy, Yoshimitsu & Lidia ending the dlc story expansion! And look I know that the MK1 Khaos Reigns story expansion was not all great but JESUS F***ING CHRIST this is almost as cartoony as the SFV story mode like WTF!!!!!
I mean Tekkens story had always been garbage in almost every aspect. The only redeeming quality from a story perspective is the fact the characters are super cool
You’re acting like tekken always had a coherent story. From tekken 1 all the way to now THE STORY HAS NOT CHANGED. Mishimas hate each other, they kill each other, they fake their death, get stronger, repeat
I love how they are talking about Heihachi at the begining like "Heihachi of old is no more, no longer evil." And I am here like "You know that we are talking about a guy who tried to kill his son and grandson MULTIPLE times, right?"
@@mr.marvinwell yeah he is a iconic character along with Jin, Xiaoyu and Hwoarang these characters changed Tekken and Tekken 3 was the best next generation character
I don't understand why Namco can't just make Heihachi's presence in the game non-canon, in similar way to Geese Howard. That way you can have an iconic character that everyone loves but you keep him out of the story so that dumb nonsense such as this won't happen. It's really simple.
They introduced a whole set of monks who fight exactly like Heihachi; they could've added the leader as a new character and made Heihachi an alt skin like Kuma/Panda used to be, to be used in flashbacks and for dream matches. Amazing how they set up a way to make everyone happy and threw it out the window in literal minutes.
Why did they even put Yoshimitsu in this, they completely missed out on anything and everything he could have bought to the story lmao - he just felt like a random npc the whole time
Exactly how I felt. Perhaps it's worth mentioning that some of his quotes in this story are just reused voice lines from the first one. They also used his heat activation voice line at 0:57 and 35:36 .
Tekken characters aren't known for their intelligence. Remember, Paul beat Ogre's first form canonically but then walked away before it turned into True Ogre.
6:07 So we are still with this bullshit of letting Jin off the hook for all his war crimes because the plot wants him to be the good guy again? Like I get that everyone has to set their beef aside to save the world, but not even having the slightest bit of tension with Jin? Dammit, I need Miguel to be in Year 2 for somebody to slap everyone upside their heads.
Praying miguel comes back and keeps his grudge intact i swear if they make him also befriend jin when he promised he would hunt jin when he wants to live (current jin) that would suck so bad
I'm not sure why anyone genuinely thought Heihachi would stay dead. They have done this once before with Tekken 5. Heihachi is going to outlive the entire cast.
Is it a stupid story? Yes. Has Tekken always been goofy? Yes. I should complain because T7’s story was pretty good and this DLC ruins it, but the premise and events are just funny because of course Heihachi is just that batshit
@P0rk_Sinigang I think I understand why it is different now. Before, we were happy to see Heihachi back. But now, the story is stagnant all over again. It cannot progress past heihachi because the devs refuse to move past it because "It's heihachi!" T7 had the absolute grandiose end to Heihachi (and the epilouge battle with Akuma), it really felt earned. Kazuya EARNED that victory finally. T8 comes out and the story was refreshing without heihachi. There was still nonsense regarding Jin's "forgiveness" but it was great! Now we got this DLC story and it feels so jarring. They could have done something with a redeemed heihachi and how the characters would react to an enlightened heihachi, but nope plot required he be crazy. The tekken clan could of have been heihachi's last resort IF he died so somebody could kill Kazuya, and Reina was put through it. This story was just... bad.
Well... Since Seiryu (Azure Dragon) and Suzaku (Vermillion Bird) is out of commision, I wonder what Genbu (Black Tortoise) is doing? Probably teaching Panda (Mmmm...Monkey)
So you're telling me that Heihachi had a Ryu story arch to have it be uno reversed by a f-king meteor he head butted on that suddenly regains back his memories? Wtf is this story dude....
Bruh Heihachi in TK7 slapped the Devil out of Kazuya you thought Lydia (my favorite female character in TEKKEN) had a chance? Although the DLC did justice to Lydia and Eddy, my poor boy Yoshi was just wasted. He should've atleast got a bigger role like tricking Heihachi by using some ninja techniques or calling for help from the Manji clan (some new recruits after Brian massacred them all?). Lydia is tough, but Yoshi is a ninja.
38:27 That ash and smoke... The theme... *Him* walking out of the smoke... That *frown...* You can't imagine how hard my jaw dropped when the REAL Heihachi returned, all along still alive in Heihachi's mind. All of that AND how that referenced the final battle's intro from T7.
I swear these consecutive iron first tournaments must’ve caused some serious brain damage. Teaching the former CEO of an evil corporation a technique that can destroy meteorites with a headbutt just because he lost his memories for 5 mins was one of the dumbest decisions😂. Eddy, Lidia, and yoshi deserved the ass whopping they got
So you're telling me that Kazuya didn't see Heihachi being saved even though he was staring at the bottom of the volcano for an entire twenty seconds? This story mode was great overall, certainly better than MK1's additional story, but some of the parts just doesnt make much sense.
GOD! DAMNIT! Why!? Fucking why?! Heihachi's death in 7 was perfect! And we already had Reina to act as a villain for future games! So why the fuck did Tekken keep him alive!?!
But why he has red lightings if he wasn't resurrected with Devil Gene? And how this fist scar works... By the way, Yoshimitsu is here just because he is blue. The red+green+blue characters should have had looking good together, i dunno
I want Shadow Kazuya's glowing eyes and voice for a proper Devil. Considering Heihachi has a skin tone change and extra spiky hair whej in heat, Devil should also have the red scar and windswept hair
So from what I understand. Bison still hasn’t recovered all of his memory’s back yet even after absorbing holobison . So he is laying low for now. Plus he was well known for having multiple bodies. Compare that to heihachi where he somehow got all of his memories back from head butting a meter and is instead causing havoc again. So I personally think that the key difference is that sf is letting this “bisonless time” last for a bit longer while tekken just’s has him back with no “peaceful” period
Because Bison is still in the background. He's technically back, but without his memories he's more of an Akuma-type heel. An evil force to be sure, but one without any broad ambitions to rule the world like he used to. If he stays like this, I'd wager SF fans would be satisfied with JP taking the reigns as the main villain moving forward, given the fanbase seems to enjoy him.
Heihachi is a joke with no character development a boring one, Naruto is now needed in the Tekken universe he needs to talk no jutsu both Heihachi and Kazuya.
Back when Injustice 2 story came out I thought the Joker fear gas hallucination was a cheap way to keep him on the roster but I guess it is more justified. Nowadays I am wondering why not more stories just do that to keep characters on the roster? Let Heihachi be a "ghost from the past" still haunting Jin and Kazuya and their fights with him are just in their heads.
I used to think that Tekken 6 had the worst story, but bro this peace of shit is even worse than T6 story, like now I genuinely respect the story of Tekken 6...
I would have preferred a more mature Heihachi after regaining his memories, considering how honorable people made him stronger, not to mention saved his life. He can sure stay evil, maybe walk away from them, choosing his own path, and not kill the monks for no reason. ... or at least kill off at least one among Yoshi, Lidia, or Eddy, and not just the Tekken Monks that no one knew about anyway - at least there are permanent consequences in the story.
I would have liked that, too. Like, even after regaining his memories, the monks' teachings had an effect on him and he would have to battle who he is as a person, from here on out.
I remember when I was a kid the Tekken story was awesome. Now it’s non-sensical and ridiculous. I get it’s more about the gameplay but the story is pretty much just a non factor these days. I say do a hard reboot like mortal kombat did and come out with a game that goes through the first 3 tournaments again. Although I will say Tekken 8 is a good game .

Then what about the white tiger byakku is it heihachi?
@@mariocruz591 Yes, Since he's wearing Byakko (White Tiger) outfit.
@@Caporaiis tgat a real life mask?
Heihachi isn't even human at this point. Cause how the hell does a 80 year old man headbutt a giant meteor? 😂😂
Plot twist heihachi has the devil gene its just isn't manifested today and they will connect it to jinpachi's devil origin
@@mariocruz591 Don't give Harada any ideas. He already fucked up with 6.
What is it with fighting games and the bad guy having amnesia ? 🤡
Now heihachi is as strong as base akuma 😮
44:23 LMFAO Yoshi delusional
Gotta love how the ending is literally just 'dam ya all fodder af'
miserable yoshimitsu…😢
they really messed up Yoshimitsu and treat his involvement in the story poorly...
59:02 I hear Tekken 2 Heihachi intro music
So you're telling me that Heihachi had a Ryu story arch to have it be uno reversed by a f-king meteor he head butted on that suddenly regains back his memories? Wtf is this story dude....
Give me a medal for watching the whole video
Eddy didn't want that smoke. Had to beg Nina to stop.
as a brazillian, eddy's voice actor's performance is the same as listening to a door...
😂😂I'm sorry to hear that
This made me shed tears when I saw Lidia trying hard to stop Heihachi but she failed😢
The f**k you expect her to actually win, this is f**king heihachi 😅
The amount of screen time she got though! Her importance in this story, I think is worth it.
Even though this story is crap!

That ash and smoke...
The theme...
*Him* walking out of the smoke...
That *frown...*
You can't imagine how hard my jaw dropped when the REAL Heihachi returned, all along still alive in Heihachi's mind. All of that AND how that referenced the final battle's intro from T7.
51:38 yoshi finally steps in I wonder how strong he must be
I love all of the different factions in the story mode. I wish we could get their full armor sets and not just the helmets.
at this point I can say Indian Dramas have better story now but gameplay was fun, I mean It's still worth to play
And I thought Mortal Kombat retcons were horrible
This whole Story is just... Stupid.. Bruh let Heihachi just die. Mans like 5000 years old..
"Heihachi is completely dead." - Harada
I swear these consecutive iron first tournaments must’ve caused some serious brain damage. Teaching the former CEO of an evil corporation a technique that can destroy meteorites with a headbutt just because he lost his memories for 5 mins was one of the dumbest decisions😂. Eddy, Lidia, and yoshi deserved the ass whopping they got
They were hoping that he wouldn’t get his memories back or hope that he will change 😂
At least this explains why the story is free and why stage is 5 Euros...
You don’t even get the burning ver of stage when you get it 😂
@@anso3886 That would be 2.99. Development cost, please understand.
THEY'RE LITERALLY FORGIVING THE DUDE WHO KILLED MILLIONS LMAOOOOO
I didn't know headbutting a meteorite cures amnesia!!
The old losing memory tropes 😮💨😮💨
Are you serious right now? Heihachi actually won this!?
He's supposed to lose to random characters like eddy or Yoshi?
Mishimas in the lore are invincible
Lol of course. Mishimas always been the top tiers lore wise
Heihachi always wins in the end.
Either way the story will probably continue
At the same time, Kazuya defeated by Jin.
So we're back to square again..... *Sarcastic clap* Way to go Namco, you immediately ruined any potential new direction for our cast by doing this.
So you're telling me that Kazuya didn't see Heihachi being saved even though he was staring at the bottom of the volcano for an entire twenty seconds?
This story mode was great overall, certainly better than MK1's additional story, but some of the parts just doesnt make much sense.
You think Jin, Lars, Alyssa and Ling Xiaoyu will help them in the next DLC Story?
The answer is next time
No i think they all gonna have a party with diddy, since we just throwing around bullshii.
Man this story terrible asf.
@@maximumdeejayand to be honest I don't feel like playing it
Likely not. Story dlcs seem to follow dlc characters
Nah, they had enough screentime for the past 3 games. It's time for the other characters to shine.
Part of me kinda feels like this was all a scrapped tekken 7 dlc that got reworked with Reina
4:13 CHRISTIE MENTIONED
He can explode a meteor using a headbutt and people thought stopping his heart would kill him 🙃
tekken developers giving the legendary characters it's glory.. literally gives me goosebumps 😊😊😊
U know they had me going for a while ans I really enjoyed it
And then heihachi got his memorys back
23:40 why he gives a akuma vibe lol thought he was going to float
Classic Tekken story telling.
GOD! DAMNIT!
The red+green+blue characters should have had looking good together, i dunno
i really wished he made him lost his memories or like him being a ghost
Ngl i would be down for the VA of Seiryu to voice Jinpachi if he returns as a guest character.
I want Shadow Kazuya's glowing eyes and voice for a proper Devil. Considering Heihachi has a skin tone change and extra spiky hair whej in heat, Devil should also have the red scar and windswept hair
Absolute slop of a story
Why is no one talking about Reina’s weird voice changes ?😂
It’s part of her character, it’s already shown she does that in the main story
I know that it’s just that it’s so weird and funny at the same time 😂
Like Krusty the Clown said:
... What the hell was that?
Funny how SF fans didnt complain about bison's return but Tekken fans are complaining about Heihachi's return.
@@anso3886 you have a point.
Because Tekken fans are little b*****
Because Bison is still in the background. He's technically back, but without his memories he's more of an Akuma-type heel. An evil force to be sure, but one without any broad ambitions to rule the world like he used to. If he stays like this, I'd wager SF fans would be satisfied with JP taking the reigns as the main villain moving forward, given the fanbase seems to enjoy him.
@@brycebitetti1402 hmm. Yeah.
I wished they kept Heihachi evil and if they want a nice Mishima, resurrecting Jinpachi is an option
Any theories about the last DLC character? Or S2 DLC theories? 👀
Damn I was really rooting for Heihachi to be a good guy.
Heihachi is a joke with no character development a boring one, Naruto is now needed in the Tekken universe he needs to talk no jutsu both Heihachi and Kazuya.
i don't think talk no jutsu will work on the two geezers.
@@KimetsuChan3328 Naruto can still beat the two of them combined.
@@CarlJohnGarry I would not be surprised if Lars has him on speed dial cause if you know, then you know.
Yoshi deserved better. He's a ninja.
8:42 If that Jack-7 was moderated by Anakin, Eddy couldn't win so easily.

hey @buffgigas, did harada san & team just brought back tekken 3 opening theme?
They sure did
Perharp we might get a new character who have Mishima blood but bo longer has any tied with the clan and force to stop Heihachi.
Fighters Forever
So Christie and Kunimitsu confirmed for Tekken 9 i guess?
13:41 is wild man but I love it
I was really hoping for Jin and Kazuya to find out heihachi is alive, now it’s another cliffhanger😒
That has been relegated to pre-match dialogue
I dare someone to list all the characters that might’ve died in tekken 8.
Stop burying Nina she queen of Tekken
That is true. She's the only female character who appears in every Tekken game so far.
I wouldn't call this a burial. She completed her task and toyed with Eddy. She could have smoked him right away, and he asked her to stop the fight.
Better than MK1 DLC Story.

The story of Tekken is so lame right now
Tekken story hasent been that good since 6. 8 story was cliche af but it was worth it for the final fight
bro, they paid eddy's voice actor in cents?
dude is making this the worst performance of his life...
reina have devil gene and heihachi returns more stronger
and jin losing his powers 🌚
It's not confirmed that jin destroyed his devil gene or just able to remove it from the body so there's hope he will get back his powers
@@bloodgrave66or more interestingly (but maybe a bad story direction) is that he separated it from himself and now devil Jin is a canon character 😅
So he failed the trial…
I remember when I was a kid the Tekken story was awesome. Now it’s non-sensical and ridiculous. I get it’s more about the gameplay but the story is pretty much just a non factor these days. I say do a hard reboot like mortal kombat did and come out with a game that goes through the first 3 tournaments again. Although I will say Tekken 8 is a good game .
