I think the first kill would've been better had we not seen Chucky fully until the victim did. Maybe through the rearview mirror. Only hearing his voice and seeing the barrel of the gun would've been better.
I have a theory that the reason the soul transfer at the end of the movie didn’t work was because essentially Chucky got a new body and the first person he revealed himself to was Mattson and killed him
