Itzhak's performance as 'entertainer/artist/musician' is complete. "Sightread, schmightread' --it's about, 'practice, practice, practice.' But when you see that blissful smile, you know he has played this piece as thousand times. He disarmed their expectation with humor (schtick). He opened them up so they could be moved from laughter to tears. That is artistry at its highest level -to be aware that the instrument you play is made from the emotions you trigger in the audience.
I'm learning this piece right now and this video is officially going into my favorites! It's the kind of performance that both encourages you to practice while despairing you because it's so good...
Possibly one of the greatest violinists of all time... He makes the most fiendishly difficult virtuosic pieces sound as effortless as Twinkle twinkle little star... A great virtuoso and maestro
This is amazing. When I was learning this piece, only a little while ago, I would watch this non-stop. My mum always wanted me to play along... but I said I couldn't spoil Mr. Perlman's performance! Lol. Anyway, great piece (once u can play it!) - it's extremely hard!
Wow, best version I've found on TH-cam! Can't take my eyes of the pianist, though XD I think it's the combination of passionate head shaking and long floppy hair XD
This piece is actually from an opera, and the piece in the opera is called Danse espagnole. This piece was composed by Manuel de Falla. In this opera, there is a LOT of instrumental, almost as much as the singing. Especially the Act 2 music published as Interlude and Dance, which is popular at concerts of Spanish music, Fritz Kreisler transcribed this instrumental in 1926 for violin and piano the dance from this pairing under the title “Danse Espagnole”. I like this piece because in the piece, I like the melody. This person is also a very good player because he looks like he is playing it very easily.
Just INCREDIBLE ! FANTASTIC ! I also love his humour,I love when he says a word or two to the audience:-)..and then he starts PLAYING !...and he is GOD !!!
OMGoodness! This just popped up on my screen as I logged onto TH-cam. I watched this performance live from the White House....1982!! This is some blast from the past; I tell you! 😳I set up my VCR (which does not exits anymore), and recorded it. I threw away the VHS tape of it during the summer of 2022 when I decided to get rid of all the VHS tapes. Ken Noda played Chopin's Ballade No.1 in G minor. One of my favorite pieces by Chopin.
Its actually depressing how well he can play, he plays everything really fast and it's still so perfect... He makes everything look so easy! This piece is a great one, I really enjoy plaing it :D X
Beautiful recording, witty Perlman! I like the Ritual Fire Dance piano version too, so much i myself created and played my own version of this masterpiece.
Fantastic performance but I cannot believe there aren't more talking about Mr. Noda's fantastic hair! 95% of the comments should be about that. I love Perlman, he's my idol as a violinist, but SERIOUSLY I need more head bobs from Noda in my life.🤯🤩😋
I'm currently teaching my flamenco students to dance this to a guitar version.. it's difficult to dance too... I think they might find this wonderful version a bit fast at the moment :-D
@Sylvain894 Reagan was also a Beach Boys fan. I doubt Perlman would have played at the White House if Ronnie didn't have an appreciation for classical music.
isn't suck a bit that people who gives a shit have the privilege of listening and seeing Izhak Perlman first row? Ronald and Nancy seem to enjoy Izhak's comedy very much, but as soon as he starts playing suddenly they find they have things to gossip about better than attending to the music. Lovely.

That is not artistry, it is just entertainment. Nevertheless, he sure can play the violin. Though there are others whom I prefer.
Perfectly stated, thank you
Ken Noda, the accompanist, was only 20 years old at the time of this recording!
Caroline Tesoro ..Yes...my grandmother was ninety six.. what a strange world we live in...😂😁
What great hair he managed to cultivate at such a young age
He sounds wonderful!
Bravo por ese pianista!!!
he was admitted to julliard (with full scholarship!!) at 7!
Such speed, no mercy for the pianist :D
More like no mercy for the well-being of his fingers
The pianist has no problem, I'm sure!
Plot twist: itzhak is actually sightreading it and memorized the entire piece just when he first saw it

I didn't know professor Snape played piano
hehe
Thats wat i thought :D
Snape😍😂
This professor Snape is from Japan
And he plays so wonderfully! :D Miss him RIP
The 29 people that didn't like this are just mad that they can't play violin

Пианист ничуть не хуже, великолепный Кен Нода!

Of course this has nothing to do with sightreading. He knows the piece so well he could play it in his sleep.

I haven’t listened to the whole piece yet, but I just LOVE this part! 1:18 ❤️🔥🥺
