    I wish you could do a demo of how to download these sample packs for the JD 990 . Thank you again for giving some time for this unit ....loving it

      It's not a "sample pack" but a "patch bank"... completely different things ;-)

    Don Solaris sound patches are 10/10. I have one for the Waldorf Blofeld. Please also do your Roland D20 walkthrough on how to sequence external hardware with the D20 ..pretty please 👍

      😅yes, I owe you that video!
      Then it would be nice to use the JD for that.

    If you were to record midi from the jd990 to the MV, how would you select all notes to have the same length and vilocity?
    I've edited note by note and it's time consuming. Is there another way? I Enjoy your music brother.

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So let me think. You want to have the same length and velocity for all notes.
      With piano roll you do it note by note.
      Ok, I will search for it how to do that in an easier way.

    Hey nice demo and ofc nice work by Don! Do you still own it and would you say owning one makes a big difference if I already have a XP50 (Jv1080) and even an MC505 ?

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment.
      I just it three days ago because I didn’t use it, which was a shame.
      The sound of the JD-990 is better than the 1080 and 505. It’s deep and warm.
      In combination with the Vintage Card you even get more sounds than with the 1080.
      But programming is as difficult as with the JV-series although it has a large screen.
      I will miss the huge sound but sometimes it was too much.

      @@theMIDImaniac Thanks, you mean you sold it three days ago? XP50/Jv1080 and JD990 as you say are all a pain to program...thats why I got the. MC505 because its more hands on even if it may not sound as huge and warm like a JV1080 or the JD990...perhaps I should pass on the one I saw locally with the dance or techno expansion even though it is tempting! 😅

      @@AnalogFlava You saw a JD-990 locally?
      If the price is right, buy it.
      I sold mine for 1200€ and I bought it two years ago for 650€

      @@theMIDImaniac Yes, indeed...has an expansion card as well...arghhh to pull the trigger or not, thats the question...resale value is indeed more as you've demonstrated, but not sure of the buyers market here.

    great!
    do you use a controller (as seen in the back) - to control the jd-990? still trying to find a hardware solution that's close to the jd-800 parameters..

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi!
      In fact, I bought two Novation Zero SL to program them as hardware controllers for the JD.
      It’s pretty complicated but a very nice challenge.
      When finished I will upload a video about that.

    Correct me if I`m wrong, lots of stuff tend to be agressive in nature on JDs? Regards.

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I do agree that. Although the Vintage Synth card has more smooth sounds with the JD-only waveforms.

    • @the.punisher.of.stupidity
      @the.punisher.of.stupidity 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, the sound of JeDi is as sharp as a nutshot thanks to its beautifully fast attack. This makes sound "agressive".

    • @theMIDImaniac

      Hi!
      From time to time they pop up at eBay.
      Here’s one!

      @@theMIDImaniac Saw that! Are these sound packs available for later modules too? I could probably find a newer module easier.

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@skuzad25 unfortunately those sound packs are made for the JD-990 only because of the structure how the JD works.
      Look for a XV-5050 and you will be blown away of the internal sounds.
      XV-5080 is of course more sophisticated but if it is for the sounds then the 5050 is a great unit!
