While litteraly Reise Reise can be translated as "Journey, Journey" the real meaning is more like "Arise Arise", as it was taken an old Shippers jargon to wake the shipmates up. But as always with Rammstein, probably both translations can apply here. For me personally, this song has to do with the journey of life, on which everyone will have to find his own path (Jeder tut's auf seine Weise), and also deals with depression (Wo die schwarze Seele wohnt / Where the black soul lives) and getting out of/up from that dark place.
Thanks for the heads up on translation. Makes a lot of sense though as that sailor/sailing motif is applied consistently throughout every album so far.

Let's hope Zeit wasn't their last album, but if it was, their discography literally starts with the moment of lust between a man and a woman (conception) in Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen, and ends with death/saying goodbye to a loved one in Adieu...
@@Maarten_Bondzio I also hope it isn't over however I think they have crafted something both amazing and beautiful if it is . I'm saying that with multiple albums still to go as well. Can't wait.
Reise Reise is my favourite album to date. The song, Reise Reise, I agree with your assessment. Live, it has an epic, majestic quality to the performance. Rammstein live always lacks more of a punch to me anyway though. Just as an aside, one of the German words for accordion is schiffklavier or ship's piano. Amazing what you discover about language just from trying to understand Rammstein's lyrics and poetry.
Well it has certainly started great for me. I won't spoil what I have thought of all the other tracks. Hopefully you will follow along with us. I'm with you and love the nuance of language you find along the way. Also with bands like Rammstein you delve into so many interesting avenues.
I like you both and I've a request: My English skills are rusty after more than 50 years, so could you use subtitles? I'm interested in your comments but only understand 30%. Keep it up (with Rammstein, my favorite band), greetings from Germany.

So in bad news I have tried all the tools in TH-cam to try and translate the videos. It hasn't gone well as it struggles to pick ut what we are saying so then it can't translate. Really sorry about this.

For me it evokes images of whale hunt. Sticking a spear in to the flesh of the sea, leaving it to bleed out quietly on the shore.
Will be giving it another listen shortly with this in mind. They do have an amazing power to invoke imagery within each song.

Great track from a great album. Picked up the vinyl after this and I can assure you it gets some high volume play regularly.
