The battery has been fine on mine around 4 hours or so, with 60% brightness. But the 2nd unit I bought from Smyth's Toys lasts around 2hours I will try recalibrating it, thanks for the method. I'm enjoying the EXP-R for what it costs it's good but wish they priced it a little higher with a few improvements made. The sound is poor but with certain games it's decent so hopefully they can do something. The screen is nice, the colours are spot on, punchy but not overly so. Blue & gold theme is cool to mask some of the light bleed plus it looks great. Compared to my Black EXP Limited Edition with some game like Beat-em-ups the EXP-R has little to no input lag, immediately registers the button, love that, makes the experience that much better.
Nice update and glad there has been at least some improvements. I like the colour scheme of the EXP-R and if they'd improved the sound, I may have went for one with the Smyth's deal but alas no. Keep up the awesome work! :-)
Grandissima recensione 🎉🎉🎉. Quando ho aperto lo scatolo e l'ho accesa ho visto aveva tre linee piene e non ho resistito nel provarla😂😂😂. Adesso farò come hai fatto tu.
Great video as always, C.B., and thanks! I ordered a new adapter right after watching this. The first EXP-R I received had some major issues, but the replacement works fine (and has almost no LCD corner bleeding). I'm personally satisfied with the sound of the EXP-R. I can mute it to a lower level than the Super Pocket, which makes gaming in public and around the family a better option for me. :).
Great to hear your second EXP-R was good. But this is a concern. Your first had major issues, but the second fine. The reason they delayed the launch was because they found on an initial batch that some had issues and others didn’t. Are the units that people have issues with, having the same issues that Blaze found in that initial batch? Did some slip through, did they just release them anyway? This is precisely why I’m not buying an EXP-R yet. I don’t want to buy one unit, fine it’s bad, get a replacement. Rinse and repeat :/
@Stephen-2097 I also had 2 exp's. Both got send back, I also got a full refund after the second because the overheating issue was really problematic. But I must say, I really enjoy playing on the exp-r, it takes away all the bad vibes the exp left me.
@@kahuna2669 I had the same experience with the original EXP. Went through 2 bad ones (overheating and battery bricked it) and got my refund. EXP-R I have one, works perfectly.
I'm having a lot of fun with mine. Still working up the courage to open it up and fix the light bleed. Most people think their screen is defective, but there's nothing actually "wrong" with the screens; it's just a bad fit in the housing. If the "pressure" isn't uniform, you get that bleed effect. I fixed the same issue with my Super Pocket by installing a DIY foam gasket (cut and repurposed from a PSP gasket replacement.) I'm assuming the same solution will work with the EXP-R.
It's my first Evercade device. It's far from perfect but I'm having so much fun on it. I had the same issues as you with charging and a bit of light bleeding on the bottom of the screen. I only play with headphones so I didn't notice the issue with the speakers.
Thanks for the update, really useful info and good to hear that you’re getting the 4 hours or so now. All rechargeable lithium ion battery in consumer goods are smart batteries. It’s actually huge energy store in a small space and necessitates a large number of safety features to prevent over heating, over and under charge, pressure release valve etc I haven’t had battery issues on any devices I’ve had for well over 15 years now. I remember early laptop batteries could be awful. But that was then. These days the battery on a device should just work flawlessly. That is unless they cheap out on a component, the battery management board or the battery itself. I think I’m going to leave getting an EXP-R for now and see what more online reviews have to say. I guess we still have no idea what the fault was that caused them to delay release by months 🤔
First time I charged it, hadnt updated the firmware yet and the red light would not go away but after updating the firmware the device charged fully and the light turned green. I noticed that after a couple charging cycle the battery last longuer. A little problem is that when using headphone, the "lowest" audio volume before there is no sound is too loud.
I've never had to worry about which charge adaptor I'm using, recalibrating batteries or waiting for a system to "learn" how to display its battery life before on any of the dozens of handhelds I've owned. The fast chargers are actually discouraged by Blaze for the VS and in fact mine will shut-off mid update if I am not using at least a 3A adaptor. Wasn't the point of Evercade that it was supposed to be user-friendly as in "it just works" out of the box?
Something’s not quite right with this product, and that’s putting me off getting one despite liking the product in principle on paper. Like you say, it should just work. Unless you’re using a super cheap dodgy charger that doesn’t supply enough voltage/power, there should be no issues with the devices battery system.
Still sort of want to replace the white EXP with this... My better judgment says to wait for a possible limited edition EXP R over the course of the next year.
Maybe worthwhile tracking down an original exp with the Capcom games built-in and hdmi out, as not much of an improvement here 🤔 Thanks for the very informative update John 👍😃
Blaze does not provide charger, yet its devices are highly sensitive to which charger you use. The VS has a USB-C plug, yet a simple USB-C charger will not work, you need the more powerful ones, which nobody will tell you, while you are wondering why the device refuses to fully boot.
Blaze need to sort the sound out on the EXP models and R , definitely something not right somewhere , i'm really plowing through life on mars , what a game.
I've got both the VS-R and the EXP-R , I've had no problem with my EXP-R but the VS-R, has been problematic, infact I'm sending it back, the Evercade VS-R splash screen after the Blaze entertainment logo is not centered to the screen, it' sits to the right and down so it looks a mess and since I updated with the Murto game, it crashes the TV signal, usually about 2 levels in, even though the consoles blue bar remains the picture is lost and requires a reset, also it changes display settings of it's own accord.
Hi, I’ve noticed in my unit that the R2 button is not as responsive as the L2 button. It seems like the spring is not tense enough, and the button feels quite loose compared to the left one. I have to press the button almost all the way down to hear a click, whereas on the left one, the click happens almost immediately. Does anyone have a similar issue, or should I just contact the store and ask for a replacement?
That's mad your original plug was meh all along and causing loads of issues. Hopefully no harm has been done in the long term. Don't forget, what you play will also determine how long the battery lasts. Worst offenders for draining the battery are Arcade Machines, PS1, N64 as they require a lot of CPU power. The ones I use and I have a number of them come from Argos, Masterplug USB Surge Adaptor 571/1851. 4hrs to fully charge an EXP but no longer than 5hrs depending how flat it was, and indeed the red light will change to green once fully charged. I also use these plugs on my my VS & VS-R and to charge my Super Pockets. I even charge my Ambernic Arc with one. 😉
@@CrazyBurger Did you know the old EXP actually displays1080p for a second or so before charging to 720p? Makes me wonder if the EXP is closer to the VS and the Super Pocket is closer to the original Evercade. We had no battery issues with the OG Evercade either.
@@MIKandJEAN I would bet a huge number of product issues is related to people using cheap, no brand, dangerous chargers from who knows where. Electrical safety is a huge thing, skimp on it or cheap out and a fire can be the result. Online places are flooded with cheap, no brand chargers or even worse, fake goods pretending to be from reputable brands.
I think they still have issues with stock in a few places. The newest Super pockets listings on Argos disappeared, the older super pockets although still in production are low or not available most places. I don’t believe that sales are super high as reviews on sites are sparse. Not sure what’s going on but hopefully we see the end of limited stock as we go into 2025.
