Concerning gender ideology, I was using the gender neutral toilet at my workplace yesterday and two things occurred to me. The first was that when we used to have a toilet purely for men, if I wanted to urinate, I could use a urinal rather than the current situation where I have to use a cubicle where a lot of the time I have to pull up a toilet seat which means increased contact and more germs. The second thing that struck me was that before shared toilets we didn't have the need for disposal bins for women's sanitary products in men's toilets. I know this is a necessary requirement for women and I'm not criticising, but why do men have to put up with this extra hygiene risk just for the sake of an ideology?

    • @davetdowell
      @davetdowell หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Fairly sure the point of the hygiene bins is to contain the risk, so you weren't exposed to any extra risk, as long as you didn't go fucking around with the hygiene bin, did you? Tell us you didn't fuck around with the hygiene bin... please!

The toilets at the RSC now have female toilets (thank goodness) and the men’s is gender neutral. I enjoyed walking past recently to a huge queue for the “men’s” and all of them grumbling about the need to queue. I assume this is because they’d got rid of the urinals. If you have a penis and favour a dress I’m unsure how upsetting a urinal can be?!

How would she know what the author thinks if she hasn't read the book?
Presumably her job was to READ and review, not throw books in the garbage and tell other not to purchase.
Is free speech as a representative of a company, need to be more circumspect ?
Is she giving an honest critique or suggesting that this book should be thrown out unread because of her personal biases?

Its perfectly OK to believe what you want, but a book seller should remember Fahrenheit 451, its what the Michael Moore movie Fahrrenheit 9 11 was in title based on, and not support burning books, as they oppose the beliefs of the person, she is perfectly entitled to believe what she likes, but not to support burning books of pretty typical mainstream beliefs, I could understand if it was some far out hateful extremism, but even then its not for her to burn books, but gender critical beliefs are quite normal and mainstream. She should really be apologising. We are all guilty of hyperbole, but that would have been a better thing. Book sellers are for selling books, not for burning books, thats not their job. Its simple. A book seller should love books, and love reading all sorts of opinions, to support, or even pull them apart, burning books is not the move of intellectuals. Firstly she should apologise.

I'm as gender critical/sex realist as they come, but I still don't think this woman should have been sacked. One of the reasons I despise gender ideology is because of its intolerance; trans activists hate freedom of speech; but we have to defend it, especially for speech we disagree with. I disagree. She said..."Oh I'll enjoy tearing up your books and putting them in the bin".
If you work for a book store it's a reasonable assumption from the employer (if they stock the author) that they mean their merchandise.
You dont want your employees saying you will destroy their products on social media...

Tilly, a Waterstones employee, is fully on board with the woke side and thinks cancelling people whom she deems as terfs for daring to think there is such a thing as a real woman is perfectly fine. The author is one such person and is part of a publishing network that seeks to protect women in that space from being cancelled for their views. Tilly found out, threw a hissy fit and said she would destroy the authors books and throw them in the bin. This breached Waterstones social media policy and she was fired. She then made a video bemoaning her lot and seeking validation for her actions, hoping to get the woke mob on board and force her employer to walk back their stance and start harassing the author to get her cancelled etc, because she hasn't learned her lesson. The mob did exactly what was expected, contacted the employer and the media and turned it into a bigger situation and now here we are.

I do not like "Mein Kampf"
cuz its in book form. The book matters. If I keep such a book on my shelf for hhistoric research purposes, its not front and center.... with gold gilt edge.. its in the "special collections" corner where the spiders live.....
all books are basically flammable and thus good for starting fires..
as for us clutching pearls about it?
    eh....
book burners waste far more time burning their fingers and someone's feelings than freezing crappy messages via bound msterial.
This Book is Queer is an example if perfectly good flammable eohemera ..
hell.. just typing in the name of the book could be a suspendable offense.. cuz the title includes They Who Shall not be Named!
