Ahmed phelephe American here. This is the first UK rapper I’ve listened to, and I feel spoiled that this is my first experience from a foreign rapper. Dave is something special and I’ll definitely being paying more attention to the UK scene.

Do that and you will not be disappointed. You should give these a listen too. J Hus, Mostack & Aj tracey for the bangers, melodies & wavy songs. Wiley, Dizzee Rascal & Giggs for grime. Loyle Carner, Avellino & Wretch 32 are wordsmiths and got a nice wordplay like Dave too. Cadet(R.I.P) for storytelling. Fredo for trap & street rap.

From someone from south London who watches reaction videos, American youtubers rarely take time to understand these English songs with a lot of bars and decipher deeper meanings and messages, however you have done a great job with this reaction. Picked up loads of metaphors and secret meanings even I missed out on and provided a good overview of not only the songs but the psychological conversations in the ‘interlude-esque’ intros.

@Elliot hardisty agreed, coming from the UK we are fortunate that hip hop and black culture from the states has been pop culture for so long we understand the references and slang. most of these American reactions miss so much and pick up on the minor bars missing the bigger meaning, but you can't blame them, its all new to them aye. As someone from the UK, thank you guys so much for doing a full album review. I honestly think this is the best rap album from a UK Artist.
Dre Dre best in the last 5 years for sure. Before that I’m unsure. Cradle of civilisation by lowkey, its not a rumour by akala are two albums I’d put up there as well.
Dre Dre Common Sense is up there too, although I felt this had more of an overall story to it.

This is the album of the year... dave's lyricism, rap skill, poetic ability, the way he flows on different beats, knowledge, intellect, word choice and story telling is incredible. He is 19 or 20. Different breed.

Dominic Campbell So glad you and many others are giving him the exposure he deserves. And at 11:30 that was Burna Boy who is wavey as fuck. I’d recommend the song “Sekkle Down” by him ft J Hus (the other wavey feature on psychodrama). You should check out Hus as well, such as his ‘Common Sense’ album which also features Burna Boy. Lots of different vibes and moods in that album but it’s one of my favourites.
