  • 200 45ACP casings with the small primer pockets were picked up at the range. In this video, we will recycle them into good and inexpensive range shooting to be done on a subsequent video...

    I guess FREEDOM of speech, expression and knowledge are a thing of the past on the tube. So sad !! I still enjoy your videos. Just reloaded my first 45 ACP in 20 years last week factory ammo prices are crazy!

    Factory ammo is outrageous! You're right. If you get a good supply of brass, your costs drop dramatically if you reload, especially if you cast your own bullets!

    I love 200 gr cast in 45 auto. My Springfield 1911 loves it too. I find myself using HP-38 more often than titegroup for this bullet personally. Great video as always!

    Do the same thing all the time, 45acp, 38 & 357 Mag, 45 Colt, even 44 Magnum with cast Special loads and 454 Casull with Colt loads. Luckily I bought small and large pistol primers by the case when they were $30/1000. Titegroup, Unique, Power Pistol, HP38/Win231, Autocomp, even CFE Pistol for hotter loads all work and will yield 1500+ rounds /lb. of powder. Cheap shooting with my hand cast and powder coated (Thanks FC45 & Elvis) bullets. Cheap loads = more shooting/fun.

    Shiny brass is no better than dull brass. Clean is all that is necessary

      Me too and I do it often as much as possible. Unfortunately some don't see it that way and I got kicked out of one local club for doing it. The reason is they are running a illegal tax exempt business from a "non profit" club. We didn't see eye to eye on me being resourceful reusing range "trash" and "scrap". Well of course not...they have over $92,000 in their checking account. I keep a special place in my memory and soul for whether or not I get pissed off enough over ridiculously and unethically getting kicked out for life and turn them into the IRS. It's rewarding to know you have someone by the balls and they are extremely lucky. Give me back my $125 annual membership and all this goes away.....
      None of you buttholes reload or cast your own bullets anyway. You just want the scrap money to fuel your moneymaking scheme.

    I use magnum small pistol primers in 45acp. Never really tested accurace. I can hit the 8" gong at 35 yards so its accurate enough for me.

    In my testing of spp in 45acp and 10mm I saw no difference between spp and lpp with my reloads.

    • @donaldslayton2769
      @donaldslayton2769 ปีที่แล้ว

      10 being a case that people like to hot rod, probably better to have the spp.

    • @c.j.8423
      @c.j.8423 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try srp in 10mm or any other small primer pistol brass and you won’t see any difference as well. Chrono’s the same with no pressure signs, you might notice light strikes if your gun has lighter than factory trigger springs. Factory springs are no problem.

    I have never seen any difference between identical loads vis-a-vis small vs. large primers in 45acp. The comment regarding the "extra" brass in the spp cases is true: I was lucky enough to obtain 500 once-fired Speer nickel 45acp +P spp cases and they are excellent. Small pistol primers are also much, MUCH more easily available lately. P.S. I just reprocessed the 45acp brass from 3 or 4 trips to the range and it is pretty easy to separate the brass while resizing or expanding them prior to repriming: I 1st deprime, wet tumble with SS pins and then resize all my brass by caliber. When it's time to breakout the large primers I do the various calibers (both rifle & pistol) in one fell swoop.

    I hope they put small rifle in 44mag like 454. And it is nice to know how to get the 200RNFP to work in ACP. My C45S will be crimped in the groove. Too bad they are LPP.

    Just use Magnum primers and drop the powder accordingly for pressure. Or if using a +p loads you may not need to reduce a standard load level?

    Whenever someone finds 45 ACP brass with SP primer pockets they should throw them away. Only thing for it.

      I don't throw anything away. Make hat pins out of case heads. Never know when you will find a use for something. All broken tools find a home doing something take care.

    Here’s a question..since lately the inly primers I can find are small rifle, what’s your thought on using them for pistol?

    • @66smithra
      @66smithra ปีที่แล้ว

      they will work just start light and work up. They may have a thicker cup so if your gun has a weaker mainspring ignition could be an issue. Check around though, I'm seeing SP primers in a lot of places now. Almost everywhere, including online.

    I wish I could get my hands on some starling srp brass. Not saying I want strictly all srp brass. But it sure would be nice to have about 500 on hand. Having brass in small and large primer pockets just keeps your options open. For example I have a limited supply of LRP at the moment. And finding LRP primers is hard but if I had SRP brass I would be good to go.

    I read or saw somewhere that the original load was a small primer, 5 grains of Bull and 230 ball. The government was trying to duplicate the 45 Colt, that had been successful. They wanted a 250 and John wanted a 200, 230 and large primer was probably a compromise.
