- Here are some licks that were typical of the Larry Carlton playing style for the 70s and 80s. These licks work perfectly over Pop chord changes.

A lesson in the style of Norman Brown would be awesome too. ❤
Oh yes!
Andy is a brilliant guitarist-and teacher!
Awesome 👍🏼. I love Larry Carlton
Teaching guitar is your x factor for sure❤
Great lesson - awesome 👏!
Andy, your playing is so smooth, you make butter feel like sandpaper.
Excellent teaching. Great instruction to a mysterious music style.
AOR West Coast is one of the best genre EVER
i love your channel! a lesson in the style of george benson, please!
Great lesson. Clear, concise and perfectly presented.
Tasty licks and delicious tone.
great licks to master thanks andy
Woohoo for part 2! I'm surprised you didn't use the bridge pickup?
Amazing lesson, love this style, thanks!
Great Lesson many thanks 🙂👌
You always have such class in your lessons, Andy. A real smooth touch.
I like that delay effect on this too.
Great job.
Thank you!
Another great video Andy. I've often wondered what it's called when soloing freestyle and pursuing the perfect phrase for any given piece of music, what is it about guitarists (when soloing) that they pursue the perfect note at the right time on any given bar. It's almost like a drug. What drives us to to that ? Is it the same thing as creative/artistic expression ?! or are we control freaks ? Ive been a guitarist for 35 years and I still do it ! lol
LOVE this great job, Subscribed!
Thank you!!
Good shit right here.
I would love to try this Helix patch with my LC Sire H7. Can you share please? You are so incredibly inspiring with your tones and licks Andy!
Great lesson ! Thank you Andy. Could you be able to explain the lick playjng from 4:28 to 4:34?
Good question - the chord is Em9 and I use the A Mixolydian Passing Tone scale (with an extra chromatic note thrown in. In my mind, Em7 and A7 are the same chord therefore I play the same scale on both. The ending part is a direct Charlie Parker lick.
Thank you very much. @@AndyDacoulis
@@AndyDacoulisnice lick! a charlie parker segment would be great. more power to your channel!
Love your instruction, playing, etc. And your tone is impeccable. I, too, use a 335. Just wondering which delay pedal you are using and what are your settings. Thanks, Stephen.
Hi Stephen - I use the Line 6 Helix for my videos. My delay is a stereo delay, set to a dotted 1/8 on one side, and 1/8 on the other.
Thank you for the response!
Great lesson, playing, and killer tone!….what reverb are you using?…the notes just hang there like a heavenly choir with perfect eq on it, not sharp and spikey or too dark….awesome
I use the 63 Spring Reverb in the Helix. But you might be referring to the stereo delay that you hear in the sound. Thank you
Good stuff! Care to share the Helix tone patch? 😁
Thanks! The tone is here: andydacoulis.com/product/585039
Thanks,, Andy! @@AndyDacoulis
We talking smoooooth jazz 😊
What are your amp settings and effects? Great tone.
Hi - I use the Line 6 Helix for my videos. You can achieve this tone with a good Fender tube amp and a Tube Screamer. My delay is a stereo delay set to 1/8 on one side and dotted 1/8 on the other.
👍👍👍👍👍
Quick question, what size string gauges do you use? As I get older, bending in tune gets harder!
I use 10-46 on this guitar, and 9-42 on my Strats.
"West Coast Guitar licks" needs some Steve Lukather.
