Pretty sure cast members that are characters are under a contract and legally not allowed to say what their character was/is.

@@grace5033 she wasn't playing the character when she was narrating the story. She was narrating it as kenzie. If you want to go the whole "character integrity" thing and disregard the REAL person then the vlogs should be named sonething like ariel's vlogs or stories by ariel and of ariel.

I don't know why watching this makes me want to share an amazing experience I had at Disney almost 20 years ago. I had lost my backpack in the park early on in our visit, as a 9 year old I was mostly upset at loosing my autograph book inside, I knew I could survive but I was sad. I think it was the next day I met Rafiki, and somehow the story came up about how I lost my backpack and autograph book. Without hesitation he went and got me a new autograph book so I could continue collecting autographs. Not only that he got some of his friends to sign it as well, one of them being King Louie (what you said about him makes this even more special now!). It was probably the most magical part of the trip for me! And as a cherry on top about a week after coming home I had a package from Disney with my backpack and original autograph book, with extra signatures from the cast of Doug who said they had found my bag!
Oh my gosh that is such a wonderful story!! I love hearing those! Especially since it was probably such a small act of kindness on Rafiki's part, but it obviously made such a big difference to you! I always tried to remember that when I was working there. That you have no idea the lasting affect your interaction with guests can leave!
Dani Soleil aww thats an amazing story, i relate haha one time i went to the contemporary the hotel & there they had "Chef Mickey" a restaurant so my family & i went there to eat breakfast for my 9th bday (im 12 now) & so a waitress sat us where it was really cold because the air conditioner was right there, & of course me being the whiney baby i told my mom i was freezing & that it was cold so my mom tolf the waitress & the waitress said there were no seats or we would have to wait so my mom said that i would just have to live with it, later after we took our orders my fam and i went to take pics Mickey and Donald Duck after we came back there was a bag on my chair and im like "oooooh whats this" as i open it there was a sweater that had minnie on it and my mom looked really confused (but she works at Disney so she knew who put it there) so later my mom told me the waitress was magical and put it there and i thanked the waitress so much. I still use that swaeter today & those were one of my best experiences ❤️

I think that would be a fun video to create because it would combine my love for Disney and makeup! And you're definitely not alone in requesting this video! At this time I won't be making any videos that give away any information regarding my trainings because I view that as private company information. Although I no longer work for Disney I'm still trying to uphold character integrity on my channel out of respect for the company and my friends who still work there. Thank you for the request though, it definitely seems to be a popular one! :)

But you still had to do Ariel's makeup all by yourself right? Like there was no hired makeup artists who came in and did all the character makeup everyday? What did they do with character performers who had literally ZERO skills? Like if I had one of those roles, I don't know what I would do because I am TRASH at makeup! Even if you give me every supply and a VERY detailed tutorial...my hands just CAN'T apply makeup! I am cursed!
I think kissing when the character is in like a full character suit is fine because the performers lip don't come anywhere near actually touching the person. However asking a face character to kiss someone is far too inappropriate.

That’s so funny and clever what Ariel did with the sneeze/dabbing - I know how Ariel feels though, I have never really understood dabbing haha 😂
I love hearing stories about cast members who were friends with princesses. I took my daughter for the first time last December. She was wearing a Belle dress and I saw a side of Disney that I had never seen before. Every cast member called her "princess", and she had amazing experiences with all the princesses. The beast was on his way somewhere through fantasyland, and he stopped to kiss my daughter's hand. It was all magical. I was almost crying the whole time 😂
Speaking of memes, I “taught” Merida how to do a fist bump. I first asked her if she knew what it was, and if she was willing me to show her how to do it. We got some really good poses for a bunch of photos! But yeah, I really love interacting with the characters. It’s like acting myself, because the way I engage with them is as if their character is real. I never assume they know things outside their or Disney universe, and if something comes up into subject that’s a little outside their realm, give a bit of lead up with terms that they would “understand”. Weird how people don’t keep character/performer integrity.
When she says she was “hanging out with ariel” or “hanging out with king louie” is that lingo for that she was playing those characters?

When I was 3, Ariel kissed me cheek and it made me uncomfortable. Like so uncomfortable that I still remember 😂😂

I remember I was about 8/9 at the time in 2014, and I went to Disney world in February.
I was VERY into Frozen at the time and I had met Anna and Elsa, and I had asked the question
"What's you're favorite thing about Olaf?"
And they kept talking about how he gives warm hugs
And then they proceeded to ask me about chocolate 😂
It was so funny and cute!

Yeah that whole situation was SO strange! But when you get so used to "being" your character every day you find ways to recover from those situations. And worst case you're only with that group for a few minutes. I'm glad you like the stories, I definitely have more on the way!
My favorite experience at Disney was actually with the people who draw on the ground with the water. It was later at night so there weren’t as many people, but she drew a Mickey on the ground, and then took out a notepad and drew a Mickey and signed it for me. It wasn’t a lot but it was so special to me

Haha that one was pretty comical! She was just so obnoxious and then to see how awkward her proposal was it made me laugh! She was just one of those people that seemed very insecure and felt the need to put down others to build herself up. But it was definitely a memorable experience! Thanks! I wish I wrote down more experiences, some of them came back to me when I was creating this video which was nice! People just say the funniest things!

One of my favorite WDW memories was during my first ever (and currently only) trip for my 18th birthday in 2016. I went to meet Ariel in her grotto and she called me a cutie. She then told my parents “Take care of my prince for me” before we departed. It was a fantastic experience.

I just thought of a video idea! You should compile a list of the best questions to ask different Disney characters/how to best interact with them! I know a lot of people few awkward when meeting character so maybe a video like that could help
I've totally had that idea before, but I also forgot about it until you reminded me, so thanks for the reminder! I thought that would be an informative video, like the do's and don't's because a lot of time if people don't meet characters often they won't know how to interact! I think it's definitely more of a foreign concept that performers often forgot not everyone knows what a character interaction is!
kenziemacbrown I was at Disneyland yesterday and as I was meeting different characters I saw multiple people not say a single word to the character and just shove their autograph book in their face or take a picture and walk away. It's so fun to interact with characters but all of us could probably use the dos and don'ts haha

When you were telling the "Kiss the Kid" story the question that popped into my mind was, "How would Ariel politely say no?" I know that dealing with unruly demanding guests must have been one of the most difficult parts of the job, and my curious mind starts thinking about how character performers deal with it if the attendant is MIA in the moment. I'm loving all of your Disney videos! I actually recreated your last makeup tutorial too. Your content is on point, girl!
With the "kissing the kid" question Ariel would usually explain that she saves all of her kisses for Prince Eric. It would only be awkward if someone said "last time you were here you kissed him". Which I believe happened only once or twice. Luckily there are a lot of performers who had been there for a while and they would offer up solutions for when that did happen. And thankfully I knew my character's story really well so there wasn't too much that tripped me up! And I'm so excited that you recreated my tutorial!! How did it go?
I'm glad you didn't have too many awkward encounters. I love those quick responses! They're so clever and entertaining! Good to know that other performers were good to offer advice. It went really well! I had to try it when I saw you had the tartlette eyeshadows (they're some of my fav too). I'm kind of limited on brushes, but I used what I had and was really happy with the result! I'll have to send you a picture of the end result on instagram :)
So i have a story this was like last year or something we went to see Tina, Repunzuled , and Cinderella, then my little brother (he’s autistic,and 10) and he was obsessed with Tina! So when we get our chance to see her he was so excited! He kept touching her and i was whispering you gota stop but he was just in love! He kept telling her turn into a frog please!! And then shes like i can’t I’m sorry so then she asked to kiss him and he was was so excited and she did it and we got a lot of pictures it was so adorable and sweet!

I love hearing your experiences and I really admire how you uphold you character integrity even now:) Without breaking it, I know character performers for meet and greets aren't supposed to sing, but when you were with Ariel did anyone ever ask her to? I feel like that would be something people ask! I'm sure getting her voice taken by Ursula might leave Ariel's voice in need of rest or recovery!
That's a great question! Sometimes she would tell guests that she had a concert coming up and she promised Sebastian she would save her voice for it! I didn't experience guests requesting Ariel to sing too often but if they did she usually had a concert coming up that she was saving her voice for!

ive never worked a theme park but i love these videos lol... i feel like i probably relate cuz ive worked theatre and customer service jobs most of my life lmao.
The belly rubbing girl may have had a form of Autism and has problems understanding boundaries, even at that age.

but the parent shouldve stepped in amd stopped in nometheless. It goes with what she said, performers are people. It was innapropriate for the parent to have let her do it as if the performed should just deal.
That's a good point, she could've! But also in line with what Chantelle was saying is that if she had a harder time understanding boundaries like that it would've been nice for the parents (or at least my attendant) to have helped. To be perfectly honest too, I feel like I'm pretty sensitive in picking up on those cues and it really didn't seem like that was the case. I could be 100% wrong, but in that instance it came off more as she was trying to be annoying/obnoxious and it was less of her not understanding boundaries or being curious. Sometimes it's hard to explain those kinds of details when retelling an interaction.
I did get a fair amount of guests with special needs and (to me at least) it was pretty apparent when someone had special needs regardless of if they said so or not. In this instance, it seemed like the girl was more being bratty (especially with her reaction when I just held her hand) than displaying confusion as to whether or not my character was real and misunderstanding boundaries. I hope that makes sense, I think you bring up a really valid point!
I was going to say the same thing. I do agree that the parent should have stepped in and helped the child.
Yeah. My younger brother has autism and has trouble with that as well. He likes to hug and tickle and get in your face, and stuff like that.
My house mate during the DCP was a character attendant, she always had the best stories about work! People were always asking the characters she was with to dab too haha

I went to Paris multiple times and I've had at least two rememberable experiences with Stromboli, the first one was him just banging my head against my brother's head in a restaurant, which I don't know if that was meant to be an accident or deliberatly (he is a villain after all), but, while it did hurt back then it's unique and then there is that other time I went and asked him for his autograph and he didn't sign until I said: "Please" and called him "Mr. Stromboli".
We went to Disney when my little brother was two. We were in Epcot cause our dad was doing the marathon thing. We went around and met all the princesses while our little brother was asleep in a stroller. I don’t remember all the princesses we got to see but I know the first one was Mulan. When we walked up to meet her, she noticed that my little brother was asleep and she gave him a kiss. After that all the other princesses kissed him too and it was really adorable cause he just had a bunch of lip stick prints on his face.

lol right. I use the crest that comes with a whitening pen on the bottom of the toothbrush. I also love Optic white.

the king louie one is totally insane. I went to Disneyland Paris when I was about seven and can remember totally understanding that Sulley couldn't sign my book just by looking at him lol. Btw you've probably heard this before but your teeth/smile are amazing!!

I think I would've really regretted it had I not at least applied, the worst thing that could happen is you get denied, but at least you tried! I'm glad I waited to apply until my senior year though, it definitely made the transition easier even though a lot of the people in the program were younger than me.

Part of the fun of working at Disneyland was hearing stories like this from entertainment CMs. I had stories too but theirs were better.
Honestly I bet the people who had to work during parades probably had the worst/most horrifying stories! People get pretty angry during parades and shows! Like there's been instances where fights have broken out!

You are so sweet and kind, thank you! I think it would be fun to work for the company in some aspect some day! To be a trainer I would have to live in Florida or California, and I don't see myself doing that in the near future, but who knows! You know I'm not totally positive. I was trying to watch it again to see if I could figure it out but I have no idea! Unfortunately I own WAY too much makeup after working for Sephora so I can't always remember what I was wearing just by looking at it. I'm sorry!
Honestly, that girl that wanted to work at Disney is smart. King Louie should have a stamp or seal, that's fitting of a king.

I was in Disney a couple of weeks ago and heard the women behind us ask Tiana to kiss her child. I am not sure what happened as I went on to meet Repunzle. How did you deal with saying no to parents that wanted you to kiss their child but you didn't want to? Also, I love your videos!!

I'm from Germany and when my boyfriend and I went to Disneyland Resort Paris (shortly before Christmas in 2017) we met King Louie. He didn't sign my autograph book but the character attendant helped him to put his stamp in it; so I was really confused when you said that King Louie doesn't do autographs. Is that something they've changed in the parks after you've left or is this really a park/regional difference and only the case in the US that he doesn't do autographs? I personally thought it was a good solution for this character and hope to meet other "rare" characters during my next Disneyland Resort Paris trip that sadly will have to wait a couple more years until my son (he's almost 9 months old now) is old enough to really remember the trip (that hopefully will be happening in July 2024 to celebrate his birthday there).
You know, a lot of people especially in Paris and Florida have poor behavior. But the ones in Tokyo have good behavior. But for some core characters, they can't write anything since their fingers are immovable.
I feel like the rules they have regarding character/guest interactions are stricter in Tokyo too! I think it's Tokyo I'm thinking of, but I know there's one park where they're not even allowed to touch the characters. So when guests from that park came to Disney World they were SO excited to give hugs! It was so sweet!
Well, I guess the people would have recovered by now. But another thing for guests is that they can be overprotective about the things they crave that happened in the past including attractions.

You do a wonderful job with character integrity and I'm sure you were a joy to have at the parks! I'm curious about something. In the "sneezing" story, if you were to go through the motion of the dab if they showed you for a picture, would performers receive any backlash from that? Or is there an opportunity to explain the situation? Thanks for your videos I'm a new viewer and a definite subscriber :)
Thank you so much! I'm not totally sure what you mean (so I apologize if I interpreted this wrong!). If there is any photograph of characters behaving in a way that would compromise character integrity the performers could get in trouble. There is not a single character that would naturally "dab" therefore to have a character do it would go against the character's nature and compromise character integrity. A better example of this would be asking a character to do a silly face. I can guarantee you that if you asked Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty or Elsa to do a silly face they wouldn't. They are all regal and it wouldn't be in their nature to do so. But I bet you would have no problem asking Tinkerbell, Anna or maybe even Rapunzel to make a silly face with you because that is something the character would probably do in their world.

Thank you so much! I can't wait for part 2 too! I still haven't picked out which stories to add (I don't want to put all of the best ones in one video so I try to disperse them!). Yes! I saw a few groups sing to Ariel! One time it was a whole choir from a school! They were AMAZING!!
I'm un school ti heb teacher and I love that idea of javeing a journal of stories from work! Kids do the craziest stuff so it's nice to save the memories!
Keeping a journal of funny stories - in any job - is great! In every job I've had I've been amazed at the crazy things people do!

About the whole kissing thing. Last year I went to Disney Paris and I dressed as Snow White. And I was watching the parade with my mum and grandma, and we where watching the parade I was getting a lot of waves and I really felt special. But the thing that made my day was when the princess and princes came round and Snow White and her prince danced over and they said hi and it was great but then the prince took my hand and kissed it 😊 I was so happy it was so Magical! Btw I love your channel you seem like such a lovely girl. Anyway have a great day!❤❤❤

Being blind I have to touch the characters, but I wouldn’t touch them and appropriately even when I was 10 years old, I knew better even then. When I was a kid and I saw costume characters from theme parks or when I was at a carnival somehow they knew I was blind because they would take my hand and let me touch them the same goes for the Disney characters, that’s what happened when I met Pluto I don’t know how they know but they know somehow it’s amazing.

I’m going to be in Magic Kingdom next week and Peter Pan is the main character I want to meet. Would it be fine asking Peter what I’d have to do to be a lost boy or if he can teach me how to crow?
