Feeling so fortunate and blessed. My family moved to Encinitas just as I started junior high and I graduated San Dieguito HS (now San Dieguito HS Academy). This was the early aughts and Encinitas was just a sleepy little surf town. Long live “Goonlight” beach, Borelli’s, and surf PE with Lani Madrid!

Absolutely beautiful botanical gardens. I can't imagine feeling anything but peaceful there. I love the gorgeous views of the sunset you captured. Grateful for this serene slowdown Sunday. I get to read, write, listen to music and unwind. Your video factored into it perfectly. Stay safe out there.🍎💚

I don't remember if I've ever commented on here before, but never mind that. I like your videos as they show a side of California not shown on the news. I hope that your channel blows up and you get way more than 11.4 subscribers. Stay safe in Hilary. Sending love to your channel from the literal opposite side of the country in Maine. ❤

I grew up in Encinitas since 1989 … it’s an awesome place with mostly down to earth people. Unfortunately it’s become so expensive as many from SF and LA and other areas moved here (many curing Covid) that that cost of living is out of control. Many 2br 1ba small apartments are $4000+. So there is a bit of a snobby SF/LA vibe creeping in that unfortunate. Also rare to meet actual locals as much and many meet are new to area.
Swamis is ok but overcrowded , can be fun when good swell and less beginners. It’s super picturesque though. Some nice beach breaks in area too with more hollow waves and a lot of mellow reef breaks in Cardiff and Leucadia that most locals prefer. We do have absurd about of yoga and also new age types has been true as long as I can recall, also the self realization center brings in lots of it. Most people who grow up in Encinitas consider Encinitas really similar to the rest of “North County” (Del Mar, Solana Beach, Carlsbad), excluding Oceanside which is different due to military and demographics although changing extremely fast (which has its pros and cons). North county is more mellow and quite rich area for a long time, vs south county San Diego which is basically everything south of La Jolla. All coastal SoCal is pretty nice and expensive though and sort of similar for most part. Encinitas and rest or north county used to be known for flower growing, but most of that has been pushed out due to development and no land left. Leucadia is part of Encinitas technically but considered more “weird” and artistic area … however like rest of north county it’s become so rich it’s changing and has high end stores popping up now vs funky record stores and local cheap food. I’d argue Ventura and Morrow Bay feel more like Encinitas did in early 90s when was super mellow and affordable. For example, in 90s there was a comic store and super cheap army surplus store in prime real estate of Encinitas , which today has become high end clothing stores like Vuori and Modern Times beer etc.
Anyway, cool video! Weird to see my hometown well represented but from a different view !

Heaven on Earth. Last time I visited the gardens was on November 2019.
Thank you for sharing such a peaceful and lovely vortex. ❤ 😊 Indeed I feel the air and the ocean embracing me.
I am glad the seaweed is gone. In 2017 I ventured myself into the water and the seashore was invaded by those sea creatures.
I am glad the Hurricane desintegrated into only a tropical storm. The Zen cafe was good.

LA is nothing like North County SD where Encinitas is located. At least you’ll be within short driving range of the magic of North County

I'm really partial to Leucadia which is walkable to Moonlight beach. I do love the Encinitas vibes. The other place I would choose is Idyllwild.

I got my first job there. I never learned to surf. I do not like driving anything without brakes. living in that part of the world was more affordable back then.

"There is no more beauty than that of the many faces we meet on the trail of life."
I think the time has come for me to move back east to NYC.
It's all about those serendipitous meetings with strangers turned friends.
Unfortunately Cali just does not have it.
Maybe in 30yrs it will be better place but
    it's not there today.

Safe travels back to your home. Cali may not be your place today but it is for many like 10 mil of us in LA county alone. Cali has had everything for me in awakening my soul. Living in SoCal continues to awe me, stay safe in with Hilary a once and every 84 years storm.

Todd Gloria, the Mayor of San Diego, should put you on the payroll. Your TH-cam clips portray the San Diego region in a more flattering light than anything the local tourism board does. Congratulations!

To each his (or her) own. Different strokes for different folks. Yrs ago I was more agnostic about parts of the US. I even recall wanting to give more benefit of the doubt to the US's original "colonies" (NYC, DC, Boston), not as much to areas far beyond that, including Ca. I recall when coastal areas like Oceanside (or, further north, Venice) & downtown SD were still in a post-1950s-70s funk. Sea World & Mission Bay (along with SD's zoo) used to be singular standouts. Areas like the Gaslight Quarter were in their infancy. IOW, "30 yrs" to you (2053) is 30-plus yrs ago to me.

Nice. The green flash is real. But you will only see it if the horizon is clear all the way out. Any clouds or fog out there between you and the sun setting into the sea will block it. Don't sweat being a kook. I've been surfing since 85, and I'm still a kook😂

  • @drewcover2864
    @drewcover2864 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Oh my dude.... the Kook is beloved for the defacement value. Locals are generally not kooks, or only for a short time as children. 'Decorating' the Kook is a coming of age act, or just fun on a weekend night. Kook sits in front of the San Elijo Campgrounds, which, with the exception of Cardiff Reef, Barneys, and Pipes surf spots... is definitely a safespace for kooks to learn surfing. Swamis is one of two or three spots in SD that can hold 20ft+ waves, no kooks there please, or at any spots north of Moonlight Beach, which will all remain unnamed here.
