Saint Ephrem the Syrian was born to pious parents in Nisibis, Mesopotamia. Ephrem was called to the monastic life from a young age, and his ascetical works lead to him being gifted great grace by God. Saint Ephrem the Syrian is known within the Orthodox Church for his profound writings both through hymns and homilies; which speak to his great spiritual life.

What an amazing encounter between Saint Basil the Great and Saint Ephrem the Syrian!
That really impressed me as well!
I liked how he lovingly spoke with the woman, and she was so shocked that she couldn't do anything but repent
It shows just how great his love was for his neighbor, as Christ calls all of us to be!
The spiritual psalters.
"O Lord and Master of my life, take from me the spirit of sloth, despair, lust of power, and idle talk. But give rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience, and love to Thy servant. Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see my own transgressions, and not to judge my brother, for blessed art Thou, unto ages of ages. Amen." What a holy man!
