    Great job! Thanks for highlighting a great community and a pretty nice replay device :)

    I’m one of those obsessive TH-cam watchers. I very rarely watch TV, and subscribe to TH-cam premium. I’m subscribed to hundreds of channels, but yours is the only one I’ve turned on notifications for. I’ve been hooked since the DJ equipment repair days, and every time you branch out to a new area, it just happens to be another one of my hobbies.
    Keep up the amazing work!

    Man I've got one of these built by PCB way sitting right in front of me. I've hand built the cables for my consoles, but I have absolutely no idea how to flash the firmware or anything to this thing to make it work...

    • @TheRasteri
      @TheRasteri  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Flash instructions are in the tastm32 github. The first time you flash, you might have to jumper across the DFU pins (J13) to put it in DFU mode.

      @@TheRasteri Ive been off and on with this, my main stump is python, Ive tried installing it and the modules, and I just get an invalid syntax error, which I have no idea what that is... I attempted getting help in the tasbot lab discord, but it stumped everyone else too.. Have you or anyone in the community considered a step by step video on how to get one of these programmed? I feel like if I literally copied exactly what someone was doing in a video in another window, I could get this up and running.

    I love the time-lapsed imagery of the computer playing Random Smash Character Roulette all night.
    Is it using a giant lookup table to find known sequences? Or is the GameCube algorithm simple enough to smash compute everything live every time, just like with a DVD?

    • @Owna
      @Owna ปีที่แล้ว

      The current RNG value is plugged into a simple formula to compute the next value. Each character is mapped to an integer.

    I wonder if syncing could be made easier by adding a video input and some special code. Just an idea, I have no clue if it would actually work.

  • @8BitPlumber1
    @8BitPlumber1 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The NES controller has 7 pins, but the RJ45 connector has 8. Does it matter which one is left out? Other than that, this is an amazing project and what you're doing here is incredible.

    • @TheRasteri
      @TheRasteri  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      hey! yeah the pinout diagrams are on the tastm32 github, as you say one pin is left out of the NES and SNES controllers

    Would it be possible to adapt this to original arcade PCBs, by e.g. connecting the HALT signal on the main CPU and using that to sync the input timing?

    • @bigbass1997
      @bigbass1997 ปีที่แล้ว

      Potentially yes. Although, I'm not sure what the best sync method would be. At the very least, you could use the video signal to roughly measure the frame count. This is how I've verified movies on the Atari 2600. But I suspect arcade systems might have different quirks that could affect replayability.

    Why not have a video recording included alongside the macro files for each system?
    You can reduce the quality of course to black and white for size (it would still be big, but work on every system with indeterministic pauses)
    You can sync it directly to the commands so at any point it could check frames in proximity to sync the command it's expecting if it detects that the frames don't match.
    Playing it blindly gives you nothing to "verify" the success of the messages sent.
