My absolute favourite from VP because HOW BRAVE WAS this? Geoff outdid himself with this arrangement. Eli did the lighting. I think they were all in black as a nod to the "Black" album. They have quite a few rock covers. I will need to go see what you have/have not done (yet!). 🌹🕊
This was my entry into the #Voiceplay rabbit hole!! And what an incredible arrangement!! Should get a Grammy for this. Another VP release with VioLayne is Voiceplay's version of Warriors by Imagine Dragons. Enjoy!!
I love Voiceplay's over-the-top theatricality, but I also love their sitting around singing vibe. Their version was absolutely mesmerizing, I watched it over and over on Patreon before it was released. They got a little pushback from a few people because "it's not acapella if there are instruments". So they put out a T-shirt that said Acapella It's better with instruments.
Eli used to sing in rock bands... so I think that "rocker look" is just kinda hardwired into him (and I love it when he brings in his gritty rock belts!)
The all black appearance was a nod to the song being on the Black Album from Metallica. We first saw Layne (Violayne) on violin in Warriros. J.None also played on in that. And the only other time was recently in The Lion Sleeps Tonight.
Thanks for your reaction! Yes it is always a treat to hear Layne play the violin (we nicknamed him "Violayne"). Layne also plays the violin in their cover of "Lion Sleeps Tonight" and you would love Voice Play's cover of "Warriors" as Layne and J None play violins in that cover.
I'm genuinely surprised that you hadn't done this one before, and I'm glad you got to it! This is one of my absolute favorite of Geoff's arrangements, and I think it's amazing!
Great reaction. I had to listen to this one several times to get really into it, as there is so much going on in the arrangement. Now, or I'd rather say, currently, this is among my favourite VP songs. I think the harmonies were marvellous and the beatboxing was insane. I think the only other song I have seen Layne use a Violin was in "Warriors", and I think that there, J. None played one, too.
This song was on Metallica's Black Album and they honored that with their staging and costuming. I love VioLayne who gave us the 2nd violin play in over 20 years. See his other his first use of the violin in Warriors (Imagine Dragons) and his most recent one in The Lion Sleeps Tonight!
Before this, most people would have said they’d never tackle a Metallica song. Even after this I’m sure there are people thinking there are some types of rock they couldn’t do. Those people are about to be proven wrong. Their next release will be soon and you’ll see what I mean.
This is similar to Draimen's live performance of "Sound of Silence." And Eli is quite the rock god, though very different than David. I can see what you're saying. This is easily in Voiceplay's top five in my opinion.

Incredibly brave, and well done
@@gawgia3 It worked, too. This song is why the show runners for the Chicago Concert reached out to Voiceplay to perform with them.

Yes! That one has another little surprise too, but I'll keep it as a surprise!🤫
What a great one to start with haha
This was the second time Layne pulled out his violin - we had to wait 3 years from the first.
And the violin was only there for about 23 seconds in this one

I can see that

It’s a great look for him, it def fits!

Thank you!
Welcome to VioLayne., a fun inclusion to an amazing cover. I love this cover.
I'm not really a Metallica fan, prefered different music. But I love Voiceplay version 🥰
Thanks for the reaction
Thank you for the support!
lol, I wasn’t exactly stressed on what your final rating would be, particularly after the literal jaw drop on the violin!
Glad you enjoyed it!
It’s a special track

It is a great one, glad it was suggested!

VioLayne has made one other appearance, fairly recently...I won't spoil for you which one it is, but it's just as lovely as the other two.
Thank you so much!
Never tell Voiceplay that a song can't be done a cappella. 😂
I agree with the others...to see more Violayne you HAVE to watch Warriors
