  • I replaced the power tubes. EL-84s. matched pair. Before the tubes were replaced, the power light would come on and it just popped off and blew the fuse. I replaced the tubes and the fuse. Now when I turn it on it makes that horrible humming noise. It does stay on but the loud hum continues. Thank you for any help or advice.

Same thing happened to my amp , I had after market tubes that apparently caused a issue by heating the base where the tubes seated

Did you get it fixed? Was the power supply replaced? I have a similar issue with my BB 007

Hello. I did not. The Fender tech in my area said it was not worth it and talked me out of it. He said he had seen many before and it was a horrible design and very expensive to repair and no guarantees it would not die again. I converted it into a speaker cabinet and play a Bugera tube amp through it. Sounds awesome! Good luck. Rock on!!! 🤘

My thought is I would go back to the original tubes and see if the hum is still there. Maybe one of the new tubes is faulty.

With the old tubes, the fuse blows instantly. The power light comes on for less than one second and then….pop. I just bought this amp used. It was shipped and the box took a beating. I’m sure the amp took a hard fall during shipment.

@@LUKESTRONG4LIFE Oh I see, bummer. Sounds like a tech is gonna have to open it up and do some diagnostics to sort it out but maybe someone will chime in and point you in the right direction. Good luck man.

@@flintdavis2 I tried all ways. It was the power supply and circuit boards. Fried. Ugh.

Spray it down with electronic cleaner Change all the tubes not just power tubes. Check speaker wire connections and make sure the switches are good , power and standby.

Thank you. I winded up doing all that. No luck. I took it to an authorized Fender repairman and he recommended to scrap it. He said it would cost more to fix than the amp was worth. He said they are a nightmare to work on. Power supply and other parts of the circuit boards were shot. I converted it into a cabinet and drive the speaker with a Bugera 22W Tube head. It sounds great. Rock on!

@@LUKESTRONG4LIFE I was lucky I had a old guy spend time cleaning the black rubber stuff off the circuits , fixed it ,
      Put the original tubes .
      Sounds good
