This is one of my favorite Danny Kirwan tracks. It's so very unusual, an almost almost country-folk style yet still full of Blues/Rock. Sometimes I get to thinking.....
Danny's playing developed a lot over "Then Play On", "Kiln House", "Future Games", and "Bare Trees." The "Future Games" period, this being the studio version of "Sometimes" shows a certain fluidity of playing, and him using a variety of playing styles that are also shown in live Fleetwood Mac performances, circa 1971.
K brought an invaluably creative and masterful element to FM when Peter Green and the band was in it's/his ascendancy. But it was Danny Kirwin who moved the band beyond the blues; his contribution will forever be pronounced in the beautiful display that is captured with the partnerships he forged with PG & CM , and briefly with BW (i.e., Then Play On, Future Game and Bare Trees). Thank you. RIP😢
In the beginning of this song (and elsewhere throughout), Danny's guitar playing would have fit into an Allman Brothers or Lynyrd Skynyrd album. He was a really versatile guitarist.

These clips make me want to live in the 70s

How I wish that Peter and Danny had worked together longer and stayed with us.
DK was too good to live in our age.
