    I totally agree. We all make mistakes, but I've seen a lot of women on youtube with way too many things!! Consumerism is crazy these days!

    I just wanted to say that cheap clothing often means cheap, unethical labor, and harmful fibers for the environment. If you don’t want to spend large sums of money on better, more ethical, and more sustainable clothing, maybe consider shopping secondhand.

    I just tell myself I’ll live with out “x” item. Like I will live, the world will not end. And slowly walk away from the item. It works every time.

    All great questions. My first question, however, happens before I even leave the house - 'what is motivating this shopping trip?' because if I'm doing it out of boredom, or loneliness, If I'm 'medicating' some other emotion or gap, then shopping isn't the answer. Sitting with the emotion is the answer. But if I have a specific list (or item), and I've put this shopping trip on my calendar in advance to take care of the specifics, that's a different thing. Spontaneous 'shopping trips' usually mean something else emotional is actually going on and triggering the 'diversion' of shopping.

      Yeah. The source of "I need to go shopping" can be pretty similar to "I need a drink" or "I need to play".

    I try to buy higher quality if I know I will use and last longer. I bought Sorel winter boots in 2014 and it's 5 years old and still good for the winter.... It cost me $120 and it's still in good usable condition!! 👍😊😁👌

    Love this video! I do have to disagree with the point about prices though. I think it can be better to buy more expensive items sometimes, as opting for a more expensive item can often mean it will last longer, and you won't have to repurchase it!

  • @jesystar
    @jesystar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I am the same way if the clothing item is more than $20 I won't purchase, unless it's a coat, but I rather just thrift it.

  • @Christine4life
    @Christine4life 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I would buy 2 or 3 of the same item in different colours... I usually aim for one colour and one neutral... But again it has to be good quality. Plus I follow the one in one out rule! 😁

    I almost screamed when you said “I don’t care if it’s 100% organic cotton” because I have been contemplating buying this organic cotton cardigan for about $27. I usually spend below $20 on clothes, less than $25 for jackets, which I don’t purchase often. And I was using this video as a guide on whether I really need that costly cardigan. Thank you for another great video Kyra 🥰

    • @raapyna8544
      @raapyna8544 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's that cheap, the organic material doesn't make it much better. It was probably still produced cheaply in a third world country, and contributes to fast fashion, which is horrible to the environment.

    • @lna4481
      @lna4481 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rääpynä the brand actually doesn’t use sweatshops and such. They invested in eco friendly sewing and dyeing plants. They also get most of their material that already exists. The brand is really transparent about their practices. They also have tons of programs dedicated to reduce their footprint on the planet. No reason to not trust them! :) I actually work at the store haha!

    I own a total of 2 purses. One purse is a tan color and the other is black. I carry the tan bag when I dress up and I use the black one for more casual wear. But I can understand why it is easy to overbuy purses so I stay away from them whenever I go into a store. Just totally avoid that area all together. . There was a woman on Hoarders Buried Alive who had over 400 purses packed away in plastic containers and she was still buying purses online.

    • @raapyna8544
      @raapyna8544 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have only two, of which one is pointless, but I have quite many bigger bags and backpacks (5), of which I typically use just one. So I should consider decluttering mine too. One size doesn't fit all. 7 bags could be right for someone and too much for someone else.

    I have two closets full of clothes and two bins in the garage, I had a problem but I’m selling and donating because I realized I go out maybe 4 times a month so i don’t need 30 outfits for each season 😭

  • @Looloowa74
    @Looloowa74 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I hardly buy clothes so when I buy I buy the best I can afford. If a coat costs 5000 and I love it I will buy it but know that I love it and wear it for the next 30 years. You love what you love. But I don’t have 20 coats hanging in my closet. 1-2 until I die. In the 50’s and 60’s people had tiny closets and dressed impeccably because clothes were not cheap. They lasted years. I say be more creative with your wardrobe rather than buy more. Plus I always buy things I need or have to replace from places I visit. I end up with unique items that no one is wearing in my neck of the woods.

    I think the real problem with fashion is not the expense but the need to follow what’s cool to fit in. Supposedly cold shoulders are out of fashion, but see that’s the problem. You purchased a cold shoulder top you love that was expensive and made of quality materials but now you have to get rid of it because it’s not “in” anymore. Might as well shop thrift or buy ethical brands and screw whether it’s in fashion or not because at least you are contributing to a good cause. But do still keep it minimal.
