Very simple yet effective very nice tutorial
If you want this to be way more effective go to an ocean and build up about 75 blocks it will make the mobs spawn way quicker
That didnt work, apparently mobs dont spawn in water when i searched it up

Spiders are still spawning. Only 2 high inside withcarpets exactly like you placed blocking all 3x3 spots. Cant stop spiders from spawning
I have this issue too, I think carpets don't block the spiders from spawning so I tried replacing them with trapdoors and spider stopped from spawning👍
@seraj7o497 nice I ended up using iron bars and that worked for me so I guess both of these alternatives work.

why smooth stone specifically?

Maybe it's because the blocks have an outline, which makes them easy to count

is the carpet really imporant?
Nope it won't stop them from spider to spawn so try placing them with trapdoors if see it helps

Its not working, waited days and still not 1 single mob has spawned and i have my game on hard
One thing I tend to do with mine is go a few blocks below the mob farm and if there is caves, light them up with torches.
Avoid building the farm over the river or cold biomes and mushroom biome bc these biomes mobs cannot spawn on there. The best place to build is ocean biome or in the sky which is 100 - 150 blocks above so no more mobs spawning in below the ground. I recommend to set your simulation distance to 4 chunks bc you can easily get rid of those mobs by flying with an elytra

why the carpets?
Prevents spiders from spawning because they clog up the middle and get stuck on the walls reducing spawn rates for all mobs

Since bc of 1.21 update the mobs spawning mechanics got changed I dunno why did they do that. Apart from his video the carpets don't stop spiders from spawning so using trapdoors will stop them
