Never thought that 14yo me would be playing this on a bass at 55 and still loving this track. Thanks man, really appreciate you putting the time in to get us newbies up and running. Just got to learn to sing like Sting now! 🤟😳🎸

This song is so much fun to play, the fast parts may be overwhelming for beginners but I just play for half a year roughly and can kind of play through it
Nice job. Also nice positioning of the fingers. I think us experienced players take using which fingers to use during a riff for granted. What I mean is like using your pointer finger, middle finger, or ring finger to lead into the riff. It's actually pretty crazy when you think about all of the things we do when we play songs (having good tone, timing, hand coordination, etc). If anyone wants to have the best time of their life I recommend picking up an instrument and finding some people to jam with. It's almost like going on a vacation. And if you get good enough to play some shows it's the craziest thing to see people boogying to the music you are playing. Best feeling.
Thank you so much for this video. I am just learning to play ghost/muted notes and this is the perfect opportunity for me to practice. So sad that I have never noticed them in the original recording; so I pulled up a video, and sure enough, there they are. Helped me to appreciate a great classic even more. Now off to practice. God bless
Great job.. I’ve been following you for a while now.. I love how your so comfortable with the pick and finger playing.. I was always against using a pick but I’ve recently been working on using one.. there are just so many songs out there where you can tell one is being used.. sometimes you can finger play some of them but other songs just don’t sound the same without the pick.. thank you for all the time you spend putting these videos together you do a great job... have a great day...
You should cover "Spirits in the Material World" or "When the World is Running Down, You Make the Best of What's Still Around" by The Police, that would be really cool.
Do some Audioslave or Soundgarden in honor of Chris Cornell passing away. I would recommend "Be yourself" by Audioslave, you could even do band cover for that one.
Hey can you put a cover/tabs up for Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic - The Police. Much appreciated. Picking up the bass after 12 years break. Glad to be getting back and your videos are helping the process.
Captain Basstacular that makes no difference. your wi fi, or data, will locate you anyway. I live in england, no matter where I change my location to, itll always know im here, unless I actually go to another country. its removed due to copyright, simple as that.
Hey man, can you please do "all within my hands" by metallica? I absolutely love your videos. I just started watching them a few days ago when i started playing bass. Ive been watching your videos and playing along to learn. I appreciate it a lot.
Do you think you can do Mr. Night by Kenny Loggins? It has a very nice bass line but I can't figure it out. I've looked everywhere for tabs but there isn't any.
I'm sure almost noone will be reading this comment, but the ghost notes in this song are kinda interesting. In the original recording, they are definitely audible, but in pretty much every tab book in which the song is featured, they are absent. If you look up live performances of the song, Sting is also not seen playing them. I'm honestly really confused about this situation with such a small detail.
Gee thanks dawg. I learned the whole song the first time through bro. I was reading a book while doing it too. I didn't need this video, I could've learned the part without it. But I wanted to see if you had it down. It was sooo easy bruh.
i thought it was gonna be roxanne by moulin rouge i discovered a new song (it's almost the same but the other one is tango and musical theatre) that's kinda cool 😭
Generally it depends on the song and the sound you're looking for, but only using downstrokes like this creates a very consistent and punchy sort of sound. You see it a lot with in rock basslines since it's more aggressive, or just to make the bass cut through the mix a little more. It's difficult to keep a consistent strength with alternate picking (strumming up and down alternatingly) so it sounds different. A bit smoother. Not worse by any means, but not really the sound a lot of bands are looking for. If you wanna hear the difference clearly, try just strumming one of your strings open at a steady pace once with only downstrokes and then another again while alternating up and down.

CoverSolutions can u do Goodbye Angels by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Do Go Robot by RHCP!
Yes
It is very cool that you play the covers with a pick or fingers, exactly like the songs were originaly played, it's a very important detail. Good job.
This is probably the best song for practicing bass guitar Ghost notes.
Look at achilles last stand, there's no competition
I hate ghost notes... they're what made me not want to plat drums anymore... yet here I am, with my bass in hand😂😅
@@simobi8299 BRO TELL ME ABOUT IT HAHAHAHA

this song shows that great bassline doesn't have to be difficult
“Jeff, you do realize you’re creating 6 different timelines here, right?”
“Of course I am, Abed.”
“ROOOOOOO-“
“NO.”
hubberducky I don’t know if this is the prime timeline but with a bassist like this it certainly isn’t the darkest timeline
Yeah, twenty three

Muy bien!!

Scott Clam what’s clogging your ass up there bud?
You are really pressuring him into that? If he doesn't do it know you are kind of shaming him. Pretty much a dick move.
Daniël van Leeuwen he actually did be yourself, kind of ironic.
I like that your bass track in these videos are loud enough to hear above the song, without being overly or not loud enough
One of my favorite bass line awesome
