      Hey guys just found your channel been growing and raising fish since I was 8. Now in my 40s love all the 411 you guys share. I just moved to Ft. Lauderdale from Texas and looking to find some local breeders you reccomend. I'm finding a bunch of koi and cichlids in the area. But would like to find more of these guppies you have in this video. Any info you feel you can share would be greatly appreciated..👍

    I really dig my pygmy corydoras...I "settled" on them one day because my fish store didn't have the shrimp I was looking for. After keeping them for almost 2 years now, they're one of my favorite fish...great clean-up crew and I think it's great that they hangout on the tops of leaves and on top the sponge filter, it's like every day is a chill day at the beach for them, lol

      9/10 times when a new fishkeeper thinks they want a goldfish for their beginner setup the actual fish they should be keeping is rosy barbs or white clouds, no joke. People need to get these fish's names out there.

    • @V1kte
      @V1kte 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FishFosh That's how it went for me. I thought of goldfish, but while my tank was cycling I did some more research and went for long fin rosy barbs :). My favourite thing about them is how social they are, they come to the front glass, they take food from hands, etc. The only thing I don't like about them is their violent mating, each time they spawn the females end up with shredded fins, missing scales, etc. Usually it all ends well, but one female recently died because she lost too many scales on her belly and it got infected. Right now another female has missing scales on the same exact spot - so far she seems healthy, but it worries me.

    I just got myself some Bolivians and I absolutely adore them. I didn't even remotely intend to pick up any kind of Ram when I went into the shop because my parameters/temperature don't fit any of the "popular" Rams. I was basically just telling the shopkeeper "well I'm looking for something similar to Rams but there is no way I can actually keep Rams," and then he showed me the Bolivians and they perfectly fit my water parameters which none of the others do.
    Literally, 1 minute after I put them in my tank they already colored up some and went up to the glass-front to inspect me. Threw in some food and they immediately started chowing down on it and after that, they went exploring every inch of the tank.
    Such amazing, outgoing, peaceful fish!

They breed easily and they're sturdy. They have brilliant color, and they're very chill. Some of my fish are still alive from my initial order from Rachel O'Leary in 2017! I have a 75 with Congo tetras and Kribensis. Both are very beautiful and fun to watch! The kribensis are really great when you have more than a dozen females constantly showing their bellies trying to compete for two males. These are two great fish!

    My dad has some Columbian tetra and they’re such cool fish! They look like mini piranhas when he feeds them, they all dart up to the top and back down it’s so cool to watch!

    I had the opportunity to keep a small group of Bolivian Rams several years ago and I have to say, they've become my favorite species of South American Dwarf Cichlids due to the ease of keeping and due to the fact they look more like the larger species of Earth-eater. It's a shame fish stores in my area don't sell them that often.

    Very nice list. I agree with everything except the Congo Tetras. I loved them until I actually kept them myself. They are easily the most disruptive fish I've kept in any community tank. I had 3 very mature pairs, and the males were constantly racing back and forth sparing each other. They would spin around and mess up the plants trying to impress the females. They would also spawn every day even though the conditions weren't ideal for them. I thought that was great until I actually tried to breed them. Once out of the community tank and in the breeding tanks they stayed stressed out, and I eventually lost a pair. They couldn't handle being alone in pairs. I know people love them, but I doubt I will ever keep them again.

    Those are some nice shoaling fish.. there’s times when I kept cichlids i wish I would have had hundreds of smaller fish. IMO it captures the eyes better when you have several fish moving in different directions. 😊
