  • This is really long, but based upon all the questions and feedback we've received within the last 24 hours since our live unboxing event we wanted to do our best to cover as much information as possible. Here is my Full Review of the Toy Shock 21C Haunted House 3D Digital Pinball Machine.
This product is specifically advertised and designed as a toy for children. Us big kids will like it too! Lots of pros and lots of cons but for $399 this is a wonderful item to purchase for your family this holiday season and to round out your 3/4 Scale Arcade Game Rooms with a fun and enjoyable pinball game that you'll really appreciate owning!
Many Thanks to all who helped make this event possible especially to Toy Shock for providing me a demo unit to showcase to the arcade gaming community. Although I received this unit for 'free' I was fair and honest in this full review and pointed out several areas/items that could be improved on a future wave of releases. Just like Arcade1Up, you have to start somewhere and I feel Toy Shock is off to a good start!

One thing: You said you would show us the “HUD” display in action and we didn’t get to see it. Would love to see how it works with a true DMD-style table like “Lights, Camera, Action”.
I would also like to see some extensive game play of “Class of 1812” with the HUD on and the nudge buttons being utilized.
Other than that, you answered most of my questions.
If I were to buy one of these my mods would include:
    * Upgraded speakers (Looks very easy to do. Just get a 2.1 system designed for a PC & plug it in.)
    * LED strip lighting on the bottom.

Let me tell you something; Gottlieb is WAYYYYY more difficult to deal with licenses than Bally/Williams.
I've dealt with Robert Fesjian from gottlieb and Rick from Bally Williams (Planetary Pinball). Both are the trademark owners in respect to these name brands.
A williams type of setup like this one in the video would probably sell much better.
Myself am a Gottlieb fan and reproducing the real pinball circuit boards under license. :)

Great Video and does look like a decent product.
However I will hold out and wait for the Black Hole version. Hopefully the Black Hole will have the spinning Black Hole backbox display, but from a costcutting perspective, they probably won't. Never the less, the Black Hole Cabinet in my opinion will look better.
One thing constantly comes to mind for me, and that is I wonder if Arcade 1up will be coming out with their own virtual cabs. If so, I imagine they will be slightly taller and more arcade accurate. So far I love what Arcade 1 up has done in their second generation machines ,especially Star Wars cabinet accuracy and also there Cocktail Tables.
So as I previously stated, I feel that an arcade 1up version of virtual cab would be more taller, arcade accurate, and adult targeted, and hopefully an LCD back box translight that changes artwork for each game on menu, and with digital display.
Never the Less, I like what Toyshock is doing. Probably not for my taste, as I'm more of a picky pinball purist with real pinball machines in my collection. However I like that Toyshock has gave the average joe an opportunity for a pinball experience. This helps bring new people into the pinball community that may not have been interested in pinball before.
Thanks for posting this video, as I was very curious about what the Toyshock Pin would look and play like.
    Love your channel bro.👍👍👍

When the game is turned back on it does not show my high score, is high score only saved while I’m playing at that moment but not when game is turned on again.

    Pdubs,
AWESOME Review! You answered my question from the last video in this video about the number of players in a single game :)
Sad to hear about the lag in Goin Nuts and Lights Camera Action. Not a deal breaker, but I REALLY appreciate your honest reveal. That being said... If you are able to correspond with Toy Shock, would you be able to ask them if they'd be able to fix this in a possible firmware update, or a replacement PCB fix (kind of like what Arcade1up did for those who had Rampage machines with broken Gauntlet roms)? I'm sure the units already being shipped to stores have the same issues. If you do have some time, or the ability to speak with them, it would be great to know.
Dude, can't thank you enough for all the in-depth coverage. I wasn't expecting this level of detail in a review and you knocked it out of the park! I can't wait to get mine and play some Haunted House and Black Hole!

There was a mini instruction booklet (for assembly only) in the box, no instruction booklet for each game - each game has instructions built into the system (I've shown that on the full review video) so you wouldn't need a booklet.
The milisecond(s) of latency on the flippers is honestly minor at best - play it for 30 minutes and you'll adjust like I did. I honestly feel its enjoyable and fun

It would have been cool if they increased the plunger ball size and used a spring in front instead of buffers. I like when the plunger makes the doorstopper plunnnngngngng sound. They also need to increase screen size by another inch. They need to reduce the bezel size but not try to completely eliminate it. As you said PDubs you still need a place to rest your palms.

@@DrPinball oh yes I see what you're saying, 24" play field with a thick bezel, 27" may have been better. Honestly when I play it the bezzel 'disappears' and i'm only focused on the screen and its fun, it's really only an 'eye sore' when you're not playing on the machine. Thumbs up to Toy Shock for being the first to 'take the leap' into this 3/4 scale pinball market, there will be others to follow for sure!

Hi Jim! Appreciate the honest feedback! Shooting coverage on a pinball table is very difficult to get the best angles, etc. So I showed what I could. However, bit of a sneak peek I did find a device that will let me capture the screen footage so I can do a solo video dedicated to just the gameplay footage after the Holidays. You'll see that pop up here sooner. Again, appreciate the feedback it helps me make the channel better. Merry Christmas!

That was a stupid choice that they did not give adjustable legs to lower or rise the machine off the ground not a good build decision also whats up with that big bezel / frame looks ugly in my opinion would have been better with a bigger screen. However I do wish them luck and hope it takes off so we see some better builds in the future heck maybe even Stern might offer an affordable pinball machine if he sees this take off that would be cool.

  • @MystiqEevee

Pile of shit zizzles can't compete with this thing but if you can find a star explorer or something for cheap you're probably better off getting that cause they're more industrial built as the name of this implies toy shock it's a TOY not a Stern pin or something

I like this machine so far. I have in general a Problem with this whole "¾ Cabinets for KIDS!?" Movement. Lets be honest here. Arcade 1up and this thing is for Adult Fans from back in the days. Selling this as for Kids is almost... insulting! Please bring a grown up Version of this stuff... a Pro version if you will. As a Pinball Fan, I want to buy this but don't want to buy a Toy... for Kids. Bring a 600€ pro Version and I am fully in.

I would love to buy a budget video pinball machine but the machine in your video looks awful.
#1 the legs are way too short
#2 The screen is too small
#3 the movement of the balls looked way too slow
#4 the tables they chose look absolutely boring (fx3 has a way better choice of tables )
#5 they should have a built in wi fi to allow players to update or purchase more tables.
If they took care of those issues I would have money in hand to buy one.
These are just my opinions and I'm hoping that company might take notes.
