  • Time to do it all over again, taking off the right side track frame on the D9G, and this one has some bigger problems than the one I just finished

Something to be said about keeping the old stuff running. As a mechanic wrenching on cars for a long time. New cars suck. Keep it up Jeff.

That’s not a junkyard. Some of the machines in that yard have made a lot money for many people in the United States and across the world , very reliable and efficient ……. a few scrapers and a D9 can move a lot of dirt. With good maintenance they can last a long time until a rebuild . I’m sure that old D9 of Jeff’s bought and paid for itself many times.. while you have other people that are buying new equipment and that are making a big payments.

What does equipment's past have to do with anything? Is this a museum? A charity? As for those running newer equipment... They are running newer equipment. You know... the requirement for revenue. They have no issues making it work.

Using stones to do a grind the seats when doing a valve job is perfectly fine if the equipment is not worn out and the stones are in good condition. That said I do believe it takes more skill to grind seat angles than using a carbide cutter but that is not to say that someone can’t screw up doing a valve job using a carbide cutter because I have seen plenty of examples of that over the years. I guess when it comes down to it using stones or cuutter(s) depends on whatever floats your boat and you are comfortable doing it

    Anti-sieze story time.
The tool truck 0/0 wouldn't warranty a socket for the truck shop. So the shop owner kept the tool truck operator busy, while the head mechanic with the broken socket went in the tool truck with a little anti-sieze. He just put a light pass under every drawer handle of the display tool boxes.
You know everything in that truck had a silver tint by the end of the week.

Been hot here in western SD, about 105-106 for the several days, last nite it rained (sideways) wind blew at least 70 mph for 15 minutes some hail and 1.5 inches of water. Took tree limbs off everywhere, power off today, got to 104 today again. Power probably won't be back on till tomorrow afternoon. Running generators so I can keep the kitty cats cooled off.......😸😸😸😸😸
