    If there’s no indication for the second number, you need to use straight 5 weight oil. 5w-40 is multi viscosity and changes depending on temperature.

  • @TheBakedBiker
    @TheBakedBiker ปีที่แล้ว +3

    5w40 and your shocks are on backwards the valve stem needs to be on the outside and used as a marker for your adjuster mine was garage kept and never worked on from factory and it's backwards from yours.

    • @CFG750
      @CFG750  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you are absolutely correct. Good catch! The valve stem of the rear shocks should face OUT and AWAY from the bike. I incorrectly show this at the start of the video at the 0:55 mark. This was simply because I was filming many different videos at the same time and only temporarily had the rear shocks on the bike...backwards.
      I show the correct installation and orientation of the rear shocks at the end of the video at the 6:20 mark.

    How about posting a video showing fork seal replacement on the 750?

    • @CFG750
      @CFG750  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this is on my list of videos I want to get to. I will get to this process this year, just not sure exactly when. But in the meantime, check out this video that I found:
      th-cam.com/video/VmIywwoli4o/w-d-xo.html
      I plan to use this video along with my Clymer Service Manual to help me make my video. I will only do dust seals and fork oil change. I will NOT replace my oil seals when I do this job, FYI.

    Hi. I found information in manual: we can turn upper part of rear shock and change damping force (fom 1 to 4). But I don't have numbers. Oh, I see it on your shock. Have you tried to change it? What position is better for solo rider about 77-80kg? =/
    And another question: we can change rear shock absorber air pressure to suit riding conditions (manual says it) - can you tell good pressure for the same solo rider? =)

    • @CFG750
      @CFG750  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually use a 1 or 2 for the rear shock settings. I weigh ~73kg and this setting has been fine and comfortable for me. As for the air pressure, I completed depleted all the air in the shocks during this oil change, and then filled each shock with ~14psi. And again, it’s been comfortable. 🤓

    Hi. Any plans of working on the front fork seals?

    • @CFG750
      @CFG750  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, my plan is to address this in 1Q-2023 and make a video. However, I will only do the fork oil change and the DUST SEALS. I will not change the fork seals. The Dust Seals are the black pieces you see between the chrome and the fork housing.

    So you didn't show it but how do you adjust the damper?

    • @CFG750
      @CFG750  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Twist the top of the shock like it's a dial. Higher is stiffer, but don't expect much of a difference from these stock shocks.

      @@CFG750 ah. What do I do if it won't turn?

    • @CFG750
      @CFG750  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@erebusros7807 I just adjusted my rear shock dampers this morning to remind myself of how hard it "should be". It should really be able to twist with only light force. Perhaps something is rusted or worn with your shocks.
      What number are the shocks on now? As long as they are the same on the left/right side, that's the most important part. Other than that, apparently the rear shock dampener settings don't really change the feeling of the bike all too much.

    • @CFG750
      @CFG750  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@erebusros7807 I see. You can try using more force to twist the rear shocks. Worst case scenario is that the shock is damaged/seized but replacement ones should be readily available:
      www.ebay.com/b/Shocks-for-Kawasaki-Vulcan-750/178042/bn_21209105
      You can also try removing one shock at a time and maybe you'll have a better chance at adjusting it off the bike?
      If you're looking for more ideas, create a post over at VN750.com. Introduce yourself, your bike, and the issue. Describe as much as you can and the other members there + myself will be able to provide more insight. I've never heard of this issue.

    I got up to do the work and the syringe I ordered months ago doesn't fit the valve. And the tip is a push lock so the outside diameter has to be the same. My bike wasn't meant to love.

    • @CFG750
      @CFG750  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not quite following when you say the tip is a "push lock". Are your rear shocks different than what I show in this video? (what I show in this video are the stock OEM Kawi shocks from the factory so I'm unsure if yours are aftermarket?)
      Or is your syringe different than what I used?
      Also lol about your bike "not being meant to love". I feel that sometimes too. 😁
