He is coming from a country that is 25 to 30 years behind. They don't understand multinational/international development partnerships yet.

That's what happens at times when you deal with your average citizen who actually thinks Chinese have built all roads in the city. What he didn't tell you is that the only road that Chinese are managing is the expressway and any other road they might have built is because they won the contract to build them through competitive bidding. Of course most roads in Kenya are built by Kenya contractors. Chinese only started doing big infrastructural projects recently either through PPP projects or bidding for contracts like any other contractors. I hope this helps.

There are mainly two factors why Chinese. One, China offers substantial financial packages and loans to Kenya and most other African countries. These often come with conditions that the construction work be carried out by Chinese firms. This financial backing made it easier for previous Kenya governments to undertake large infrastructure projects. Second, Chinese constructors often offer lower prices compared to local constructors or those from other countries. In addition, they are less corrupt and offer quality services. But with Gen Z revolution, Kenya we are slowly cleaning the mess.,

It was NOT build by someone else !! Someone else ONLY provided the funding, NOT the planning and labor.

I think you were really misguided. The Chinese have built some roads, yes, but not that they are responsible for all that has been done. They have been contractors. It is not aid or philanthropy.

He’s coming from a country that is 30 years behind Kenya. They don’t understand multinational/international development partnerships yet. Loans facilitate development. Chinese people are not thrilled by our developing, it’s business.

I’m not sure why you keep saying it was built by someone else. These are not government projects but housing that are build by Individual companies, some are Kenyan companies, some Chinese, some Japanese companies, some are somali built, some uk companies. Like it’s a city? They aren’t all built by one person 😅

I think he doesn't have a clear understanding of how public infrastructure is done in Kenya...may be in Ghana government literally builds everything
