so funny...I just saw your interview with Renea about handmade businesses. Then now I just searched for My Father's world reviews and found you there too! ha. Since I run my own handmade business also, I am happy to know there's still enough time to homeschool and run a business! :)

So thankful I found this!! Now I remember why I started to sway away from this as my top choice. My girl is so similar to how your little guy was. She is turning six this week. And so in the state of North Dakota where we live she was too young for kindergarten last year and I put her into a preschool program and so now I’m starting what I’ve always planned to do is to homeschool her for kindergarten on up. So it has nothing to do with the virus. But I remember the more I looked into the samples for my fathers world kindergarten I love the themes of the weeks and how the new format is only five days and I just kept feeling like it was going to be really easy for her I don’t know how else to explain it but I felt like it was things that she already knows. From things we’ve done at home and from preschool. So I was feeling like I would be doing her a disservice to like go through teaching her things that she already knew. As an example she can count to 100 do basic addition and subtraction she can read the little dash into learning books which are similar to Bob books and I really love the character traits that it teachers but I feel like both the math and the reading language arts would be something I would have to skip and because it’s so intertwined I felt like to get the fun weekly themes and the character traits in the calendar work I would have to pick it all apart and use different math and use different language arts because she’s already reading in North her letter sounds. And so there’s a lot that I love about it but I feel like she needs something more. I really am a big fan of Charlotte Mason and I also commented on your other post about one of the other reasons I shied away from this is because it’s kind of a unit study thing where everything’s already connected in Charlotte Mason always recommended that she didn’t like that because she want to kids to make their own connections so that reason as well as I felt like it’s things she already knows I started looking for something else. But it’s already August and I think I’ve chose something else but obviously I’m a little bit on the fence and I’m revisiting this. I did go to the my fathers World website and I read about the grade one curriculum and they have a whole list of questions that says is my child ready for this curriculum and she hits all the marks. But yet I think my mama heart wants to do a gentle start like Charlotte Mason recommended and then I’m second guessing myself like is that holding her back but I know I’m choosing to homeschool so that I don’t really feel like I’m holding you back from anything. She’s my only one and I don’t want to start wrong. It’s so hard to decide.

How do you deal with when the kids don’t want to participate?

Sounds like you have made an aawesome set up for your little man. We have loved the MFW K repeatedly main for the activities. I agree it is a perfect K4 for advanced children or K5 for average children. We will be adding it to our system again fall.

Hi Simply Raising Arrows, I live in MO as well and my daughter will be 5 y/o in May and we are going to begin using it this summer. How did your kindergartener like this program? Any supplements or modifications you made? Thanks!

We loved MFWK, but have used it more as a PreK for my 4/5yo. We supplemented a lot too and often did 2-3 days worth of the planned things per day. Now he'll be 6 in Jan and we're on the 2nd week of first grade. I just let him go at his pace.

I think it's more of a pre-K than a Kinder curriculum in many aspects as well. I think we'll be going to A Beka next year with both kiddos just to give them a little more substance to their curriculum!

i do Hearts of Dakota and was wanted to do MFW...i was leaning more towards HOD. Still wondering if i should buy the teachers guide and try it out for a month or so...i do like Hearts of Dakota but it's always fun to change things up a bit! tfs!

Look on Ebay for a MFW teacher's manual. It'll give you a really good idea of what's inside and how it's set up! I've never heard of Hearts of Dakota, I need to look into that one!

How do you think this curriculum is for a child that knows all shapes, colors, numbers, and letters? My daughter will be 5 in July. She struggles with handwriting though (high functioning asd) she’s got photographic memory and learns very very quickly

We only wanted to do three days a week do you think we could just do two lessons a day ?

Simply Raising Arrows it’s been hits a long time since we’ve used this curriculum, so I’m not entirely sure on that. I want to say most likely yes but it depends on your circumstance and child.
