    Bought the Taylor. Walked in a strummed Born to Run on the Martin and then he brought the Taylor. It boomed its way into my life. No question today.

    Grateful to you for doing this comparison.I am A/B ing both at a music store right now. Very tough decision. I love both. the Taylor has more bottom/mid that could be taken away if desired(int his recording and probably at the store as well). I think the Martins neck is a little smaller(?) making it a bit more comfortable on the hands. We played with Truss rod adjustments on both to take it down as low as we could and the Martin won by having a hair lower action. I do like the look of the Taylor though. I guess that's important to me as I am having trouble pulling the trigger on the Martin. I will buy one of them today. They sound so close really you cant lose. the last comparison I would and probably should make is recording them. My engineer on the last album said (regarding what guitar to bring into the studio) I cant ever tell what is going to be good or bad on the day. We use (famous children's artist name here) all of his guitars and often wind up recording with a less expensive one as it sounds better recorded. So, if one is doing a lot of recording in the future perhaps that is a key test. Or do what I did and record at a studio that has a plethora of acoustics to choose from. Thanks again. I am no closer but it was great hearing it.

    Those Martin's are my new favorite, I prefer the mahogany version. It's much more punchy on the slim dread shape. Both play great just in my experience in both version of the d16e the mahogany was notably better Tone and punch to it. Def save the rosewood for the standard 👌

    Nice comparison sort of deciding between the two guitars, seemed to me the Taylor had bit more volume on the last comparison and the first, both sound really great though.

    Thanks for the comparison! The Martin has more clarity to my ears. It's a little hard to tell because your recording is not loud enough, just to let you know.

    Taylor is more forgiving (no surprise) and has has more mid range. Martin is chimier, has more definition, a guitar for a more experienced player, but not as forgiving. Personally, I think the Martin will hold its value more than the Taylor because of its woods, and more experienced players will want that over a guitar that sounds good in anybody's hands, something which is both a positive and a negative for the Taylor. Maybe a Martin for recording and Taylor for live gigs.

    I’m a huge Taylor fanboy but gotta admit the Martin wins this one.

    What song are you playing for the fingerstyle section?

    • @maplestreetguitars
      @maplestreetguitars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Michael! The fingerstyle tune is from an original song called "Disintegration Blues," which I recently recorded. It will be officially released later this summer. I hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Lindsay @ Maple Street Guitars

    These american dream taylors are too jangly for my tastes. Much preferred the D10e from Martin (cheaper than this D16)

      Call it what you want I agree. I played one to me it seems cheaply made and the sound leaves a lot to be desired although I do admit to not being a big fan of Taylor. Martin has a much nicer sound IMO

    the recording is too poor. Try to invest on some microphones and learn how to use them
