Like the vlog!! Almaty seems to be a lot like Seattle. There seems to be a lot great hiking, coffee and good swimming beaches. Speaking of hiking, you said you were sore for 5 days. That is very common with hiking because you are using a lot of muscles you don't normally use. The best way to deal with that is first to hike more often; and second take a rest day afterwards and focus on soaking or swimming in cooler water. Keep crushing it with the videos!!!
@@curls68 There are no travel restrictions. In Kazakhstan, the mask regime has been canceled. Keep an antiseptic with you. In short, it's safe here. Good luck to you
Who cares about the posh life in Astana ? We can see that in any city in the west. We want to see the real Kazakhstan....the horse racing, life in the countryside, winters in Kazakhstan, social issues... and all that. Give us the real thing Salta. This posh thing that you are presenting just don't cut the mustard. Touch on the real subjects which affect most people and the reality. That's what we all want to hear about. We are real people and we want to see real things.
I fully agree with you. I understand that it's up to everyone to shoot what they want, but you need to show the truth. Some Kazakhs live in the steppes (this is less than 6% percent of such a Kazakh, because modern society prefers to live in apartments) They make high-quality koumiss, unlike store-bought ones. There is also a village (Aul) here, but even they do not want to show it, why?
there are not so many people who live in the steppes and leading a nomadic lifestyle. We are settled now. And yes, Saltanat’s lifestyle might be fancier than most Kazakh people’s life, but it’s not like the rest of us are suffering in cold steppes, milking horses and making kumys. Ordinary people her age might live the exact same way, minus the car, bcuz not a lot of people have them. In their free time, many young people in Kazakhstan go to various places, attend idk drawing or dance classes, work out, or simply walk around the city. Others prefer to stay home and watch movies or tv-series, clean the house, read books, or cook and etc. Especially funny how you say horse racing😅, dude how do you really vision ordinary Kazakhs life? Maybe you’re talking about like that 5-10% of Kazakh people who live in really rural areas. We haven’t been riding horses in the steppe or milking cows and horses to make kumis for a long time. The majority of Kazakhstan’s population has long been urbanized. Even those who live in small towns or rural areas don’t always ride horses or herd cattle. Also this is Salta’s channel, and the title of the video says “my day in KZ” meaning that she’s showing HER life, if the topic was “how ordinary people in KZ live”, “social issues in KZ” then you could’ve argue with her sugarcoating the issues. I am telling all this as someone who spent majority of her childhood in a village in a big family that consisted of her grandparents, aunts and uncles, their wives and children. Pretty traditional setting dare I say. Now I live in the city, I don’t have a car, I don’t have fancy job and don’t have a high salary. I have loans and other bills to pay, but even so, I still manage to enjoy my free time. I go to different cafes with friends, walk in parks, attend concerts, take fitness classes, and when possible, I buy clothes and other stuff. I also visit beauty salons do manicure and pedicure. This might seem fancy to you, but most of these activities are not that expensive. Ofc some people might have to cut back on a few things because they can't afford them, but overall, my point is that we’re not living that badly.
Coffee shop and yoga class ... is that interesting for anyone ? How about tokal (second wife whilst also having the first one), how is Kazakhstan slowly kicking out the old Russian/Soviet culture, what is the situation in the country side ? etc, etc. Salta, I think you are cool -- American educated, computer science graduate, and all that. You really are one cool girl. But your channel will never attract many subscribers if you don't touch on social issues which affect average Kazakhs. I've never been to Kazakhstan but I can guess that the life you are presenting is not one that belongs to an average Kazakh. With your skills in computers, I am sure you can present something very well here in You Tube. Why not present what is the life of an average Kazakh ? I think that it would be very interesting for everyone. At present, you are presenting top 1% of Kazakhstan and the girl who got educated in America and came back and got a good job in posh Astana. But this is not the life of an average Kazakh. Everyone (including me) wants to know how an average Kazakh lives and what his/her aspirations are.
I don’t usually do this, but i felt the need to point this out. I’ve been to Kazakhstan more than once. In fact i have a business operating in Kazakhstan for more than 3 years now, and I’ve just come back from a long work trip in KZ. I appreciate the intention of wanting to learn more about Kazakhstan, it’s admirable. But I hope you learn to put your intention across more respectfully. In fact, if you have been to Kazakhstan and know some locals, u will understand that the lifestyle between cities can vary a lot. It is a HUGE country. If you do go to Kazakhstan one day, u will realise that people there do lead very good quality lives as compared to so-called first world countries (though not without problems). Also, she is not in Astana, she is actually in Almaty. I hope you do visit Almaty one day, it’s truly a beautiful city, with lots of nature on the out skirts and strong cafe culture. People in Almaty love going to cafes, and locals I know there even tell me people in Almaty LOVE to eat out. It’s laid back, and imo a great place for both locals and expats. Also, many Kazakhs actually have the opportunity to study abroad under scholarship if they perform well in school. I do think Salta is doing a great job depicting a very accurate and genuine version of HER lifestyle. This is as unpretentious as it gets. And, how exactly did you deduced that she has a “good posh job”? Also, why make it sound like a sin even if she has a good job per se? It just proves that people have good opportunities in Kazakhstan, and that should debunk some of the prejudices people have towards this country. In fact, many Kazakhs I know actually came back from London, US, because they know there’s a lot of untapped potential in this vast country. Definitely, there will always be disparity in lifestyle between various people. (which is where ur point comes in, about wanting to learn more about social issues in Kazakhstan). But it’s quite presumptuous to accuse her of glamourising her lifestyle, don’t you think? Also, it’s neither constructive, nor encouraging for you to bring her down this way, by saying she can never attract subscribers because of her content. If you don’t enjoy her content u can simply not watch it. There are actually people here who do enjoy her content. In fact I watch her content sometimes to relive some memories I have of places I’ve been to while I was there. Also since you are so concerned about social issues in this country, instead of bringing others down with ur comments, why don’t you expend your energy in volunteer work or actual research? If that’s too much, then learn to keep ur nasty comments to yourself
@@praise5229this! Omg as a Kazakh person I am so surprised reading the comments under Salta’s video, saying that she’s living a “posh” life while ordinary Kazakh people are suffering🤦🏻♀️ I wonder how they imagine our everyday life then? Someone in the comments accused Salta of not showing horse racing. God, I'm just shocked. Do they really think we ride horses to work every day, eat horse meat for breakfast and herd sheep in the evenings? There is nothing “posh” in going to yoga classes and cafes. A typical monthly yoga membership costs around $20-40, while a typical full lunch at a cafe will cost around $5-10. These prices are of Almaty. So that means in other smaller cities it can be even more affordable.
you’re channel so underrated 😵💫
