    Great job, Han! People don’t realize how hard finger holes can be. So easy to screw them up. Nice build!

    Hans ... I really liked the bowie you did last year, and was glad you participated/built a dagger for 2022. The trench dagger is such an iconic knife of WWI, and it was a pleasure to watch you fabricate this piece. The tumbled, acid-stonewash turned out fantastic, and the wooden/pinned covers are beautiful. Good Luck, and thanks for the share!

    Really nice build, not often you can call a trench knife elegant. Was wondering if the mass in the handle would make it hard to use but with a knuckle duster component I suppose that's a feature not a bug.

    there is couple things that are bad fore knucke knifes - the handle is not covering whole metal, it will lower the grip strengh after every move, since it will hurt the hand, also there is a high chance of gerring hurt cause there is this place for a thumb, and it will most likely cause injury for the place on the hand between thumb and index finger. if hit will not land the way it meant to, this part will may gp to that handle part and it will hurt badly. instead, you should have made a half guard to make rest for the hand.

      Wow, I guarantee, if your life depended upon this knife, and it was the only thing you had. None of the negativity would matter one bit.
      This guy put forth some major effort in making this knife, regardless of however you may feel or think you know about these particular knives.

      @@kaynan3754 everything you said is an opinion and not fact.
      Then you.said there isn't a place to place your thumb, yes, there is actually a spot to place the thumb.
      Everything you said is a negative opinion and not based upon any factual information.
      Then you mentioned the grip of the knife, well you called it a handle....say the wood wasn't covering all the metal.
      How will that lower someone's grips strength as you put it???
      Do you understand that there are thousands, possibly millions of knives made like that, and because the grip doesn't cover all the metal, that will definitely not cause any loss of grip strength what so ever.
      Your whole comment is negative and definitely not based of any type of factual information.

      @kaynan3754 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ericwilliams538 i worked with knife in my hand for 3 years straight dismantling fish, meat and chickens at a shop, i know which handles are good to hold and which are not just simply by looking. there is difference between wotking knives and combat knives, but both of them must have comfortable grips, for the purpose of not injuring hand of the user. i know that from personal experience and not some abstract opinion. if you use knife with handle the type in this video metallic angles on the grip will eventually cause calluses on the hand, and if you use that part to place thumb and pull the blade forvard for a strike it simply will either break it or pull your nail out.
      you must understand something, i put my comments with my thoughts, either positive or negative, but its my opinionб its constructive criticism. i'm not doing it to offend someone, my goal is to improve skill of the persone by putting some advise, maybe he will read my comment, listen to my opinion and make the next work even better.
      this knuckle knife - i like the shape of the blade, but handle is simply dangerous to use for self defence.

    • @ericwilliams538
      @ericwilliams538 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kaynan3754 I too have work in a meat department at my local grocery store for more than 6 year!!!! Knives used for butchering meat from animals are completely different types of knives.
      Two completely different types of knives...one is made for cutting meat all day long, and the other is used for simply killing your opponent.
      I'm very sure this guy and all the other guys in this dagger challenge have more than 3 years of knowledge making knives.
      So you have fought with knives with these specific types of handles i in hand to hand combat before!!??? That's the only way you would have gathered the experience to come to the conclusions that you are saying.
      Knives like this were used quite often by soldiers in the trenches of WWI .
      From their accounts, besides a pump action shot gun, knives like this, they loved having for self defense, and none of them complained about the grips, or the placement of their thumbs....
      Your basing your opinion off of pure speculation and nothing more.
      Again thousands upon millions of knives have been made to where the grip does not completely cover the metal. This will not cause calluses to form on your hand.
      I do construction work on a daily basis, using a hammer, various other hand tools, and shovels with wooden handles.
      You still get blisters first, then calluses form. You want calluses to form, especially after a prolong use of a particular tool. It's your bodies natural way of protecting the skin.
      The placement of the thumb will not result in the thumb nail being ripped out.
      I don't even know why I'm bothering responding back to such ridiculous negative nonsense....
      The handle is not too dangerous to use.
      Again knives like this were used in WWI and used very effectively with out any of the issues you are saying......
