    Good refresher Steve.
Youre absolutely correct hybrid gas mileage does drop alot in colder weather.

Thanks for the tips, Steve. I was familiar with all of them except the rear window washer. I didn't know about pushing it instead of twisting, and I had read about, but forgotten the heated area at the bottom of the windshield. As always, you do a great job of keeping us updated & learning new things!

Couple other things to mention… many of the new Toyotas don’t have a separate heated mirror button. But I believe the heated mirrors go on with the rear defrost button.
And finally, to defrost the interior of the car quickly in high a high moisture environment (like the PNW), putting on heat with the A/C (to dehumidify) and recirculate will actually defrost quite quickly because the A/C is dehumidifying and the recirculating prevents moist cold air from being reintroduced back into the car.

Odd, on all my other pre 2018 cars, whenever I put the heat system to any defrost mode, the ac turns on automatically

    Another informative video Steve.
Button to the right of recirculation, should be on if no rear passengers ?

Thanks for the tips Steve. Unfortunately in our -20 degree weather in Wyoming, my 12v battery in my 2023 Rav4 hybrid drained even when the car was in regular use. That meant the car would not start, so none of these tips could be implemented. Attempts to boost or recharge the battery failed until we finally got temps back into the plus 20s. I've read of abnormal 12v drain in 2022 and earlier hybrids and hope this is not going to be a recurring issue of unreliability in our vehicle.

Good lord man. I’ve never heard of that. That’s crazy. Would a lithium jump box start it? Not that you want to use that every time you need the car but at least emergency use

Thanks for the quick reply. You are my first source of info on the vehicle. My lithium jump boost would not start it. An error message said voltage too low. Checking the 12v battery directly at the battery in the back showed only 4V. Applying a battery charger simply caused the charger and the dashboard to flash on for a few seconds and then go black. No voltage increase in the car occurred. A day later when trying the charger again, the dash said "Ignition on". I pushed the start button to turn it off and the charger started acting normal. 6 Hours brought the the battery to 12v and the car started. We will see how it goes in the next cold snap. @@TrainerSteveClifford

I had three customers with very new Toyota have this problem in only 15 degree weather last week. One was a 24 Grand Highlander gas, one was a 24 Corolla Hybrid, and the other was a 23 RAV4 Hybrid. All used daily and all purchased within the past 12 months. Very disconcerting.

Yes. The fob continues to work as long as the DCM is active
