Wow we are blown away with all of your comments and opinions on our video. It would have been nice to have some comments on the actual main content of us showing you around Limerick but we’ve obviously touched on a sensitive subject! Just as an update for those of you who are interested, I am currently researching the legal owner of the car park at the hotel as I believe the road that services it and the parking is actually public highway! Would make sense why there’s absolutely no signs about the parking. Have a look on Google maps. You’ll see the road is called Inagh Drive and there’s also double yellow lines in parts of it. Regards, Mark
I can assure ye 100% that head chef who came out to speak to you guy's is the salt of the earth..... I won't mention his name but I've worked with him for over 3 decades and you couldn't meet a more pleasant gentleman...... You parked in a family owned hotel car park, his family own the hotel, you need to make better parking decisions ahead when it comes to you're evening parking,..... This is not on him or the hotel, this is on you guy's 🇮🇪
If the hotel doesn’t want motorhomes to stay that’s their prerogative erect a couple of signs job done however that letter would pissed me off worded aggressively
Hi @annemarieryan9459, you can contact park4night if this hotel is on their site & get it removed, numbers will lessen, just tell them it's private property, contact details on their website. Search4sites aren't so accommodating unfortunately. Having the same problems here in Scotland, folks seem to think if somewhere is on one of these sites/apps then it is legitimate, which it often isn't. Hope this helps, best wishes.
we never said anything bad about the chef he was lovely and we said he was fine nice enough in the vlog it’s the snotty letter that made it a bitter sweet expereance
@@NorthernersonTour...... And I never said in my message that you said anything about "yes chef" but snotty letter or not to you both from the greenhills they were well within there rights as a hotel to tell ye to clear off... take this one on the chin guy's and learn from it going forward, don't post a vlog when hence that vlog might not go in you're favour....🤔 And on that note I hope ye thoroughly enjoy the rest of you're holidays in ireland 🇮🇪💚
The problem we have here in Ireland is that members of the travelling community will park up for a few days & leave all their rubbish behind. We cant discriminate so we have to say no campers to everyone. Its unfortunate but thats the way it is
Love your vids. But understand the hotel stance. It’s their business. Had you been having a meal there it would have been ok to park. If you put yourself as owners of the business you would prob feel the same. Car park full or not. I agree they should have signs to say only parking for patrons.
Their land , they have paid to maintain the car park , pay for the tarmac / parking bays etc then it is totally acceptable they do not want none paying customers using it for free. I am not anti VanLife , I'm hoping to try it for myself one day , but before you sold your house would you be keen on random strangers parking on your drive just because they had seen it on Park4Nite
@@robertguest1832 but it would t be on park for night would it robert that’s just being sarcastic. and a hotel is there to make money of which they totally ruined as they just didnt ask if we where going staying for food or using the gym which they said all the other cars where ….we where told to leave and that was that well not told left a off sounding letter !
@@jackwatsonepic626 our thoughts exactly all could of been solved with signage as they had none and said they have had loads of vans in the last 3 weeks
Did you ring before parking to see if you could stay overnight, in return for a fee or a meal? I don’t see why they should have signs up, it is having courtesy. It is different to Tesco’s car parks. I bet the pub is totally fed up with people parking there for a freebie
Sorry you’re upset, but perhaps you should ask before you park. Ireland is very expensive for everything. I think it depends on how you do it, I toured around the Wild Atlantic Way for 15 days from Roslaire and never had a problem anywhere. Everyone was very welcoming and very helpful. The weather as everyone knows in Ireland is unpredictable to say the least. We parked on coastal marinas, canal Marinas, pub stops and always had water and on marinas black water facilities. Pubs allowed us to use toilets ( a couple even when closed). Many others we met also had the same experience as us, so once again sorry for your experience, but not everyone has had your problems, so please don’t paint Ireland in a bad light.
we are not painting ireland in any light these are vlog of our journey no one else’s and we speak as we find we haven’t come to ireland to stick to the coast or marinas we have done pub stops and always repayed by having a meal in them .sound s like we took a different route to you hence encountering the problems we did, we like to visit the city’s and towns and a lot of the locals have told us of the horror stories they have had with the travelling community that has ruined a lot of places
Not wanting to get into any unpleasantness over this but I did Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Dingle and Limerick with no issues, However, I did fing that Galway city is anti Motorhomes/ campervans. Everywhere else was brilliant.
@@gaz1226-j2x I can assure you lots of places dont want campervans ,,waterford Wexford are very bad ,I should know I ever a campervan and we head out most weekends ,but never fear we'd always find a spot ,these toes should b welcoming campervans ,we all leave money ,bit they expect us all to go into the official camp sites ,they charge a fortune ,
it has come across as nasty as there was really no need for it the reception was just across from us an they went to the effort to type it out then walk to our van and stick it on , what’s wrong with good old face to face and ask for the reason we are parked there ??? but no we where just told to leave immediately ??? absolutely no need these people are supposed to be in hospitality we could of been guests and that was our only means of transport !
@@NorthernersonTour What? ‘reception was just across’ and you didn’t pop in to ask/check. Rookie move, come on you guys are professionals at camper-life
With all due respect, if you don’t want to pay for campsites - moaning that owners are removing you off there own private land is a bit silly 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
because we have a motorhome does not mean we have to stay tide to camp sites!!! we have travelled far and wide and can safely say never experienced such a short fall for facility’s to encourage motorhome tourism in to its country and if you read the comments the people of ireland agree with us
@@HelenCurry-d2q it works both ways we may have already asked but still got slapped with a letter the bee all and end all is manners if they had spoken to us instead of treating us like the travellers they have in the town this vlog would never had been made for all they know we could have rang and spoken to some one else ?!!!!
Sorry you had such an experience but I can see it from the Hotel owners side too. Ireland is way behind when it comes to facilities for Motor Homes and Campervans. Hopefully this will get better.
Did you not ring the hotel before parking up and planning to stay the night in their carpark? We always ring ahead for pub stops. That way saves a wasted journey.
We followed the advice on park 4 night app ‘Greenhills Hotel car park and a football pitch. Overnight stays are tolerated. Free parking day and night. Approx. 70 spacious parking spaces, also for longer vehicles’
I think many places are getting a bit fed up. It is becoming a massive issue here in the Highlands due to the NC500. Campsites half full/empty but campervans and motorhomes parking up in shop car parks and local beauty spots and even on private land. Unfortunately there is a sheep mentality and if one MH/CV parks up, then loads follow suit. We have a big issue with inconsiderate tourism and I'm a campervanner myself. It's always a few who spoil it for the rest. I always do my research before booking where I go rather than just winging it..too much stress otherwise!
We're motorhome owners and what we do at hotels and country pubs is go into the premises and tell them you want to come in for a few drinks and maybe a meal but is there any chance we can park overnight in there carpark ...it has never been an issue for us. You 2 might as well walked into that hotel with a few beers in a bag and a Chinese takeaway and sat in there bar !! You rock up spend no money in the hotel then are all upset when ur told to move on . Maybe next time go in to the place that owns the private car park and ask permission first .
hi we have always rang ahead or asked when stopping in a pub car park but this place on the app was not down as a pub stop or having a restaurant it was down as a over night parking place that tolerated stays in the carpark but when we got there and walked around we saw a restaurant but when we got back we had already had the letter left on our window screen to get gone ….. we are not new to this we know the the etiquette of vanlife as it is us that say in our channel if you get a free stop put money back in by visiting the town or having a meal to give something back …again this was a massive car park that stretched around a playing field and the hotel with no signs to say who it belonged to
Sorry Mark and Lisa, it's dreadful in Ireland for campevans ,but we all know the real reason is our own park for days ,and leave lots of rubbish .it's worsh it's getting .and the money these towns are losing out on, shame on them, but continue to enjoy our country, ,lovely to have met you in kilkenny, keep safe you'll still find plenty of nice people ,,safe travels, Veronica and Billy ❤
oh hello you lovely pair it was a pleasure spending some time with you both and 99%of people we have meet over here are just like you a bloody delight 😂😂❤❤❤
I live in Galway along the Wild Atlantic Coast. Ireland is so expensive for hotels. We cant afford to do a staycation. Very few campsites, especially along the so called tourist mecca of the Wild Atlantic Way. They try to get tourists to come but offer no facilities. Its the same for locals going on a day trip, no bins or bins with holes so small nothing will go in. Very expensive, we hardly eat out anymore. I feel your pain. Ireland is a beautiful country, but inaccessible in many places, no right to roam etc. Good luck
hi karen i have pinned your comment as you live there you know what your talking about and what we are saying is true thank you for verifying this xxxx
Sorry youre not enjoying it here in Ireland. We are not equipped for campers.. and everything's overpriced here. Its getting out of control. The cost of living is crazy and our government are incompetent fools.
@@Secret_Squirrel_Scottishgamer Eh, no thanks. We're very happy to be in the EU and the lack of spaces for camper vans is nothing to do with the EU. You guys have already made your bed by leaving the party, we're more than happy as we are.
The wife and I watch all your vlogs. So this comment is not an insult. However. I am with the landowner 100% here. Sorry. We both said the same after watching. Would we like a motor home parked overnight on our drive for the night. NO. Or even at the front of our house No. We are caravaners, we use campsites and would not dream of parking on someones property Just because there is NO signage. Sorry I think you was at fault. The letter was probably put on the windscreen to STOP any confrontation I presume. Where is the harm in that? Thats all parking wardens do. They don't hang around to personally tell the offenders off.
hi Kev, when we travel into urban areas we use a few very well known apps that show where people park their motorhomes and it shows reviews of their stay how many parking spaces there is and gives you indication of how many people use them on this occasion the place we went to was on park 4 nights an app that is used massively in the van life community. It stated as recently as a week before we got there people have been staying there without any problem When we arrived there was no other motorhomes there and it was very quiet. our point is we have not been parked there for hours and hours but were told to leave immediately when we could’ve been booked into the restaurant or using the gym like the lady in reception said most of the cars were that were parked in the car park . the car park also wrapped around a public playing field where people were using it to walk the dog but we were the only ones told to leave. If motorhomes are not allowed, that’s fine we understand it’s just the manner in which it was dealt with. We had advised the hotel that signage would prevent this in future as there was none and our travels through Ireland has seen the other places have provided signage so stops were not made there. we also told them about the app advertising the car park that it may be a good idea to contact them.. As of last night this parking place has been removed off park 4 nights to stop any further Upset or confusion for any other motorhomers. No respectful motorhomer would dream of parking on somebody’s drive outside their house!!!! but they can park on public roads as they are MOT’ed and tax just like everybody else but again we don’t do this as we like to feel safe in our motorhome. It was being threatened with being clamped that pushed the situation over the edge after driving 70 miles to get to this destination yet the hotel we’re happy for you to go and stay in the local Tesco’s. if you watch our channel you will know we stay in lidl and aldi and tesco’s in the past all because they are on app people use and we also buy our shopping whilst there hence using the facility
Sorry, but i wouldn't even park my car in a hotel carpark if i I wasn't staying there, never mind a camper van. I think anywhere the height of the school holidays will be hardier for parking at the moment.
@@NorthernersonTour maybe worth adding a comment to warn others. If a lit of people have been staying it is probably why they're fed up. I hope you have better luck now x
@@NorthernersonTour Sorry guys these apps work on folk getting away with staying overnight & listing them, the owner of such may not have been consulted. Just because it shows up on an app does not make it legitimate or legal. I saw in another comment, you don't pay that subscription but even if you did, paying some website in France does not give you or anyone else the right to park overnight on private property which a lot that are listed are.
@@NorthernersonTour I think it was nice someone came out to speak with you. They weren't being angry. It also appeared they didn't know they were on the site. Some places do stop access when they become too popular.
suzannah when the park up appears on park for nights with recent reviews explaining it was a lovely stop and no hassle at all you take it there is no problem and when we arrive there was a horse box parked across 5 bays and parents parked watching there children play football on the field … no donate anywhere so the parking could have belonged to the hotel and the feild … the pint we are making is we are the only one that got a letter and it would of be adiquite for them to ask us if we where using there facility’s if it bothered them that much but we weren’t we where just told to leave … there is a nicer way to treat tourist i think don’t you 😮
Got further into the video now... Ireland is expensive, but as you said, the wages are more... Minimum wage is €20 an hour! Fish n Chips are + - €12 and Chinese take away is very expensive... It is what it is... if you want to find really expensive go to Dublin! Two drinks will cost you 12 - 15 euros and it can be more! Personally think there is only one good bit to Dublin... the road out! (Castletroy is the place you mean....) The Rice Monument This monument was erected to the memory of Stephen Edmond Spring Rice (1814-1865) who died at sea. He was the eldest son of Thomas Spring Rice (1780-1866), Lord Monteagle. Stephen never succeeded to the estate and title as he died at sea, a year before Tomas died. He managed the Mount Trenchard estate while his father pursued a political career. Stephen is now remembered as a liberal Protestant landlord who favoured Catholic Emancipation. Prominently sited to the west of Foynes, the cross forms a local landmark in the area. Finely carved, the monument is a notable example of late nineteenth- early twentieth-century stone masonry. All the best...
No idea where you get the €20 an hour figure from. There are a few issues with camper vans in Ireland. Many of the roads aren’t designed for them. There are a minority of van owners who seem to think they should be allowed to go where they want and park where they want. Parking in stupid and often dangerous locations through lack of brain cells or sheer laziness. If you don’t want to pay for facilities then don’t, but don’t whinge and moan about it.
So sad you found the area so unwelcoming 😢 your such responsible van lifers, spotless & caring. I can only think some people have been the opposite & caused this. Please keep going & take very good care. Big hugs for showing us the lovely side of Limmerick & its beauty 💚🩵🩷🐾🐾🩵
Sorry that this happened to you in Ireland...... but glad that you highlighted this. You would think that a place that practices the art of hospitality would have been able to deal with the situation much more professionally.
@@NorthernersonTour What sticks in my mind about this is that the hotel is responsible for its own reputation. They handled it badly and now for my part all that I will remember them for is that they were the hotel that a fixed that note to the vloggers windscreen. So much for Ireland of the welcomes. They let us down.
I can understand why they don't want overnight camping, but as you rightly pointed out, they should have put some signs up. They also could have worded the letter better than they did, courtesy costs nothing. Also if its on the App Park 4 Nights, then I suggest they need to be speaking to them. Keep going Lisa and Mark, don't let this spoil your exploring. xx
As you said, you planned to stay overnight in a HOTEL car park... as a motorhomer from Ireland, that is really not a thing, that said neither is a nasty letter... but you do not know what they have to put up from campers before... I actually have my own map marked where you overnighted... (shopping centre car park) If you are driving towards Tarbert, that is west out of Limerick along the coast... there are a number of places I have marked on my map... With regards rubbish... as you say we have to pay and getting rid of rubbish is not easy... best way is keep the bags small and use public bins as you can... little and often as the bins also have small entrances for rubbish to prevent the dumping of rubbish... As residents paying for rubbish not too bad, €25 a month and we do not have poll tax! It is not easy, but hang in there... we only do wild camping and always have lots of places to go... I just spend a lot of times on maps! Are you going on down to Dingle and Kerry? All the best... PS. some pubs allow overnight if you eat or drink in the pub....
@@NorthernersonTour out along the coast at 37km (Gravel Car Park just outside Foynes), , 40km (large lay by on coast road), 44km little cut in by estuary opposite anglers rest pub which is permanently shut), 46km (Kilteery Pier) and 59km (Tarbert Ferry Car Park). None are tested, but sure most be fine... it is trial and error, but most of my stops have worked out well having never been before! I'm not a fan of laybys by a main road due to noise and potential problems, but piers, little cuts etc are fine... Usually just tour by places I am interested in stopping in... if the first one is good, might just have lunch or stop overnight... if no good, then potentially lunch and move on! Hope helps and see how you get on, no one likes hassle, but most can be ignored... Cannot recall having our collar felt in 5 years of which vast majority are off site! Ireland is difficult, but the challenge is possible! Height barriers are the worst and you cannot really defeat them...just move on! Your vids are great nice mix of personalities... I like my food to.. oh and I'm a northerner too... not a native!
@@topoftheleague8814 this is our point we wanted to visit limerick city centre but the places you have just provided are miles away not even our scooters would have got us there. all the carparks had height barriers so we couldn’t even park for the day and move in the evening to one of the places you stated x
@@NorthernersonTour no my point of those were for onward journey... the place I have marked for Limerick is exactly where you overnighted! We not been down that way yet.. We have got as far as Tramore to the south and Westport in the north... we have most of the west and south yet to do.. We usually only do 7-10 day trips but need 2-3 weeks to do the south and west corner up to Killarney and that still probably only scratches the surface... we live quite away from the south and west... so its bit by bit! We just had 10 weeks in France, Switzerland and Italy, we would highly recommend Italy, lots of Aires, some free with water/waste and the others with wash facilities, toilets and showers about €25 a night... Again its a mix of free/pay Aire and an odd site.... Sites were roughly €30 a night.. Maybe you have already done, but if not, that's the info.. Switzerland less camper friendly in terms of free places, we did find some... but it is mostly expensive sites and expensive everything! Fuel was surprisingly cheap in Italy as were most things... We had the impression Italy was expensive and it was not! The best Aires were in France, most free, but if I had to choose, I'd say we loved Italy most, came across a few Aires in Italy that were owned by the local Motorhome Owners Club and the best of those was in Maranello, where they were very social, inviting us to their clubhouse for coffee and cake! Keep up the great content...
We stayed in an aire in France where the mayor wrote a note on noticboard to say if motorhomers didnt stop leaving rubbish and dog "poo" the aire would be closed. Who are the worst nation for leaving dog "poo" on the streets. So we didnt think that was very friendly for other nations. So didnt stay there again. So will you tell Park for Night to change their app? We used to used All thr Aires in a lot of countries and always wrote to tell them if there was a problem with the aire.
Def put me off taking our campervan to Ireland. I'll stick with Scotland and Spain which I love. Never ever had a problem in either country! We have done the NC500 numerous times and always felt welcome and as for Spain, such a wonderful country and the people are so friendly plus the sun shines there! Only issue is the 90 day rule, that makes us having to come back home!
@@NorthernersonTour Thanks! ❤ A real shame some keyboard warriors are like that! Ireland looks a beautiful country, but perhaps not the best to visit in a campervan or motorhome. Also, didn't realise it was so expensive! Take care, hope you can enjoy the rest of your trip! ❤
Personally I think the situation re the park ups in Ireland is getting to be the same everywhere. The truth is those in charge are not happy that people are 'opting out'. By choosing to live in a van it means that as far as those in charge are concerned you are not paying into the companies that they have all the shares in (or own), for example - water, electricity, gas and council tax. They are intent on making it harder and harder for people to have the freedom to choose this kind of lifestyle because it does not line their pockets...
That was terrible, not nice receiving a letter like that could have been written in a diplomatic non threatening way and you would have left no problem love your videos, Ireland we need to do something with regard to campervan parking or face losing people coming to visit, and yes our weather has been a wash out worst summer ever!
Guys love your vlogs. We’re from Ireland 🇮🇪. Just one thing I’ve seen mentioned a few times. The Tesco cake gate. I did some research. The one that’s £3.50 in uk is a different sized one. This is €4.35 over here and the €20 is £16 in the UK. The difference of exchange rate and our higher vat of 23% would make it around the same price.
No one at fault here. Agree with you - there should be signs to say no parking and it should also be removed from the app. A misunderstanding on both sides x
If you're going to Cobh from Limerick, you're completely missing out, the most scenic parts of the country. I'd go as far to say, you're missing everything.
Think that was a nasty letter , there was no need for it ,really enjoyed your Vlog any it’s been great to see Ireland with you 2 and Chicco you show us all the places with lovely narratives Mark always makes me laugh he is like a big kid ,and you are both so down to earth and normal thanks so much for the entertainment take care you 3 ❤
Omg I can't believe that Tesco cake was 20e That's an absolute joke... We're getting a transporter soon and was planning to do the whole of Ireland aswell I'd dread to think how much a gallon of fuel cost Look forward to your next one
The south of Ireland is very expensive!! Prices much better here in Northern Ireland in comparison, and thats why so many from over the border come up North to shop in Newry and Sprucefield. Really sorry you guys didn’t have an easy time with parking in Limerick, hope it won’t ruin your opinion of this beautiful island. Look forward to the next vlog xx
Free parking free water and free waste water disposal for camper vans at the Linnet inn pub in fermanagh, all the owner asks in return is you have a drink in his pub, its a brilliant bar with a cave and big open fire 🔥 🍻
Hi Lisa and Mark. About the letter, i do think they could have worded it better, and as the parking was on an app, you didnt know you are not able to park there. Anyway still enjoyed the vlog, look forward to where your going next. Take care xx
Limerick or any city in Ireland wouldn't be so accommodating for camper vans, particularly Limerick though due to the traveller population, rural pubs usually accommodate if you avail of their services, bizarrely enough, I have seen a lot of campers on the coast in Dublin at sandymount and Dun Laoghaire Harbour. It's not all bad, lots of places on the south coast like kilmore quay etc. big towns and cities not the best bet for free camping. I think you can camp at any of the waterways Ireland spots where there are canal boats or river cruisers parked up.
There may be a problem with camper vans but why do they have to be so rude about it and threaten you with clamping !!! It must make you feel very unwelcome, come back to the UK . I won't be visiting Ireland anytime soon!!
Soo sorry you had that letter it spoiled it for you we are from wicklow we have a Motorhome so we know it’s hard sometimes to park and expensive hope you enjoy the rest 👍
Ireland has become far too expensive for anyone but the relatively well off/ rich to visit. The sights, though, are undoubtedly brilliant, the facilities are sadly lacking. No public toilets in many places including beaches along the west coast. Fish and chips were outrageously priced ( this is Kenmare when we visited) bed and breakfast the price of 3. * hotels in much f the rest of Europe. Don’t get me on the price of foods in restaurants in Dublin.
So sorry your having troubles parking in Ireland Lisa and mark . Pity as it’s such a lovely place . Unfortunately your paying the price for travelling people I presume but hopefully wherever you go next will be better xx
That letter was a bit naughty. There are ways of letting you know the rules and that is not it! I'm so surprised! And 20 Euros for that cake! OMG! Tesco has jumped on the bandwagon there eh! Well I was thinking of doing an extended visit later this year for a family research project, hopefully in a folding caravan, but im having second thoughts now! While I was going to park on a proper campsite with the CCC, I'm having to rethink now because of those astronomical prices! Unbelievable! What on earth is going on in the ROI! I think its obvious what's happened. So many people have abused the system that its been made bad for all campers! I'm so sorry for you. 😕🙏🏴🇮🇪
Awwww Mark and Lisa so sorry you are having a hard time in my country, but I fully understand where you are you are coming from. We have been moterhoming for the last 25 years but Ireland has changed so much and not for the best, there are so many moterhomes for the size of the country. Also a lot of campsite owners are hand in hand with local councils so you will be pushed into overpriced poorly equipped campsites. We don't do Ireland in the spring /summer season but we are slowly loosing heart in moterhoming in Ireland 😢
In my opinion the campsites are overpriced and cashing in on this, over the recent bank holiday weekend we saw one campsite we tried to book on say minimum 7 night stay over the august bank holiday! At €38 euro a night ! Be cheaper get rid of our Motorhome and stay in hotels!
Brilliant footage of Rep of Ireland & Northern Ireland ❤ something on my list. ROI Seems slightly hostile to the camper / motorhome /caravans to me. I’ll have to book ahead & not give my opinion of why it’s like that. I’ll look forward to seeing that coast one day 👍
Guys…nothing is free in this world. Vanlife is constantly made harder by the powers that be. Living “off grid” is something that goes against the grain. Keep vlogging, think sometimes people forget TH-cam is not “free”. You have to work to entertain people. Cheers and look forward to the next episode 😁
I think i agree with them. I mean its their private property. But i dont agree with the letter. They should have signs saying private property for patrons only. This way at least people know where they stand. I wouldnt of got mad about it because you were in the wrong im afraid. But, in your defence, if others have said theyve stayed there then the conpany really needs to put signs up.
So sorry this happened in Limerick and the green Hills Hotel is just up the road from me. Alas think everyone has to agree that the facilities are very bad in Ireland for motorhomes. They organise and widely advertise the Wild Atlantic Way but they have put no facilities on route. As regard the bins, yes there is a charge for rubbish in Ireland and the amount of council bins at seaside resorts are quite scarce. Badly need to look to attracting motorhome holiday makers as we no longer have hotel accommodation for the tourist. So glad that ye continued to tour Southend Ireland and l hope ye eventually enjoyed ye're Limerick stop over. Love all ye're videos and look forward to them daily. Mary❤
thank you mary for your comment yes as we are tourist we have only the road side little bins to use and when they are full we really are stuck but what you have said is true and thank you for backing us up south ireland was beautiful and the vlogs of us being there are coming next xxx
Limerick is the traveller community centre of the universe - Rathkeale, so no suprise motorhomes not welcome. Ireland is just not motorhome friendly, narrow roads, no services, no parkups oh & wet weather. So well done for making the trip but will you come back?
At minute things are cheaper in North but normally it's other way round. I used to cross South to fill car, shop in Aldi, Lidl and Penny's (Primark). These days at weekend Northern towns are full of Southern registrations instead of vice versa. Probably swap again soon. Mate in Drogheda told me bin collection in south isn't included in rates but is in north so public bins are rare as hens teeth to stop people filling with domestic rubbish and saving money. Don't let the bad bits get you down Ireland as an Island is gorgeous North, South, East or West. Your videos since you arrived have encouraged me to get off my arse and I am revisiting so many places.
Extra ordinary conduct! No excuse for bad manners. They need to be called out. I will ring them no doubt. However there is a problem dealing with "travelers".
Take your money back to France and Spain Mark and Lisa! Everywhere on these islands plays a poor second fiddle to the aforementioned countries in terms of value for money and hospitality. I feel your pain!
Hi again it's Alan and Lynn from sunny Spain again. Can see your having trouble parking over in Ireland. Your 90 days should be fast approaching so get back over ere to Puerto de Mazarron near Cartagena. There are loads of free park ups for motor homes here, even on the beach virtually 😎. As we mentioned it's beautiful for the drone. By the time you head back to Europe Spain should be cooling down a bit 🥵. Hopefully you get back to us for more info. Ps. Keep up the great work it's getting better 👍🏻 Alan & Lynn x
Sorry that you had this parking incident at the hotel. The hotel albeit if they don't allow parking should put signs up and could have dealt with the situation of the letter more politely, not be so aggressive. We certainly won't be visiting Ireland from issues we have seen from a lot of Motorhomes. We can't wait to get back to Europe. And Benidorm!! Love to you both & Cheeks xx
If you are passing near Ballina you can pull in here, no charge and I can even run to a cheese & tuna baguette! Very quiet at the end of a lane. Plenty of room on hard standing beside the lough. Top up with water free, dispose of rubbish etc. We are a private house with land but would love your opinion on our location for a possible camper van stop over. We can even provide a hook up!
we went to but yo have to pay monthly to leave comments some one else has put a comment and it happened to them just after us plus the hotel said they where going to ask park4nights to remove it also
Another great vlog guys Don't let van life get you down here in Ireland, it a bit like Cornwall, very few park ups, they are trying to force you into camp sites

We are doing the same as thousands of other visitors to Ireland with a motorhome do, park for free and spend our money in the locations we visit. Surly this is better than paying €40 on one night stay on a campsite 30km away from anywhere and not getting to see Ireland !

The problem we have here in Ireland is that members of the travelling community will park up for a few days & leave all their rubbish behind.
We cant discriminate so we have to say no campers to everyone.
Its unfortunate but thats the way it is
We have them here in England as well. Often with Irish registered vehicles.

they didn’t even ask what our intentions where they just banged the letter on the window screen so there loss and told them about signs needed
I'm sorry you experienced that and ye are upset but it's at the discretion of hotel management it's not public property

Many others we met also had the same experience as us, so once again sorry for your experience, but not everyone has had your problems, so please don’t paint Ireland in a bad light.
we are not painting ireland in any light these are vlog of our journey no one else’s and we speak as we find we haven’t come to ireland to stick to the coast or marinas we have done pub stops and always repayed by having a meal in them .sound s like we took a different route to you hence encountering the problems we did, we like to visit the city’s and towns and a lot of the locals have told us of the horror stories they have had with the travelling community that has ruined a lot of places

because we have a motorhome does not mean we have to stay tide to camp sites!!! we have travelled far and wide and can safely say never experienced such a short fall for facility’s to encourage motorhome tourism in to its country and if you read the comments the people of ireland agree with us

Parking on private property and then being asked to move is not unreasonable.
no signs for private property or to say who owns the car park it was massive and other had stayed there recently with no hassle at all
I think many places are getting a bit fed up.
Red Velvet cake is priced at €4,25 here in Tesco Dublin from their Finest Range so the price is very wrong at €20 (must be a party size one)

Maybe next time go in to the place that owns the private car park and ask permission first .
hi we have always rang ahead or asked when stopping in a pub car park but this place on the app was not down as a pub stop or having a restaurant it was down as a over night parking place that tolerated stays in the carpark

I live in Galway along the Wild Atlantic Coast. Ireland is so expensive for hotels. We cant afford to do a staycation. Very few campsites, especially along the so called tourist mecca of the Wild Atlantic Way. They try to get tourists to come but offer no facilities. Mon back down to NI ❤
It was being threatened with being clamped that pushed the situation over the edge after driving 70 miles to get to this destination yet the hotel we’re happy for you to go and stay in the local Tesco’s. if you watch our channel you will know we stay in lidl and aldi and tesco’s in the past all because they are on app people use and we also buy our shopping whilst there hence using the facility
that's terrible !! but I think the locals are so feed up now , its bad in England ,
Sorry, but i wouldn't even park my car in a hotel carpark if i I wasn't staying there, never mind a camper van. I think anywhere the height of the school holidays will be hardier for parking at the moment.

The Rice Monument
This monument was erected to the memory of Stephen Edmond Spring Rice (1814-1865) who died at sea.
The national minimum wage in Ireland is €12.70 an hour. I'm on €16. Don't know where you got €20 from
No idea where you get the €20 an hour figure from.

The hotel could charge €10 per night for parking as long as you buy a meal in the restaurant, that would be a reasonable solution .
We did discuss going for a meal there while out walking Chicco. Obviously wouldn’t have made a difference as they just victimised motorhomes

Been Irish I apologize to you , I'm from Waterford and living in Alicante xxx
no need to apologise we loved waterford vlog coming soon xx
come back up to Northern Ireland. If you want an overnight in secure space outside my apartment in Belfast let me know.
aww bless ya xx
So sorry your having troubles parking in Ireland Lisa and mark . Pity as it’s such a lovely place . Unfortunately your paying the price for travelling people I presume but hopefully wherever you go next will be better xx
this has been the first and prob last problem we have loved all the other places we have visited xx
@@francesagnew1091that label was for that cake we make no mistake but maybe tesco did
Statue Thomas Spring Rice former MP of Limerick
It’s getting like this in OZ as well. Sadly the Sign of the times. Since Covid things have changed dramatically. 😢
I’ll look forward to seeing that coast one day 👍
Brilliant as usual. Both are you are correct about Treaty City and Pig Town. The meal looked delicious xxx
thank you
Guys…nothing is free in this world. Vanlife is constantly made harder by the powers that be. Living “off grid” is something that goes against the grain. Keep vlogging, think sometimes people forget TH-cam is not “free”. You have to work to entertain people. Cheers and look forward to the next episode 😁
cheers to that 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😘🫶🫶🫶
Hello guys. The statue on the column in the middle of the park is of Thomas Spring Rice, a
former MP for Limerick. He loved to eat Chinese …… joking 🙃
Sorry Mark and Lisa, you deserve better ❤
awww thank you ❤
Limerick is the traveller community centre of the universe - Rathkeale, so no suprise motorhomes not welcome. Ireland is just not motorhome friendly, narrow roads, no services, no parkups oh & wet weather. So well done for making the trip but will you come back?
never say never but would like to see more facility’s if we did xxx
The statue looked more like Richard Arnold than Terry wogan 😂
King John lost the crown jewels in the wash
Looks like Marks done a service on the van with the t shirt , not really mate. Take care both of you.
😂😂😂😂❤
At minute things are cheaper in North but normally it's other way round.
I used to cross South to fill car, shop in Aldi, Lidl and Penny's (Primark).
These days at weekend Northern towns are full of Southern registrations instead of vice versa. Probably swap again soon.
Mate in Drogheda told me bin collection in south isn't included in rates but is in north so public bins are rare as hens teeth to stop people filling with domestic rubbish and saving money.
Don't let the bad bits get you down Ireland as an Island is gorgeous North, South, East or West.
Your videos since you arrived have encouraged me to get off my arse and I am revisiting so many places.
hi david we wondered if some might do that shop over the boarder lol thank you for your lovely comment
Am from Drogheda we have always shopped up north much cheaper 😊
@@petercunningham5640 I watch his channel, I'd agree with you. Gets to some great places and a good laugh too.
Wages are Def not better in Limerick west Ireland just so expensive to live here now
just going off what the irish people have told us
Extra ordinary conduct!
No excuse for bad manners.
They need to be called out.
I will ring them no doubt.
However there is a problem dealing with "travelers".
yes we saw a few camps and illegal stops on our travels
You need about 12 to 15 pints each.
Get well scuttered.
Like the weather it will clear.
Take your money back to France and Spain Mark and Lisa! Everywhere on these islands plays a poor second fiddle to the aforementioned countries in terms of value for money and hospitality. I feel your pain!
not long now keep watching ❤❤❤
Hi glad you're OK after that nasty episode 👍👍😊
Nothing has been right for ye weather, cost of cakes and cist of parking, ye should just get on the ferry.
good plan
Hi again it's Alan and Lynn from sunny Spain again. Can see your having trouble parking over in Ireland. Your 90 days should be fast approaching so get back over ere to Puerto de Mazarron near Cartagena.
There are loads of free park ups for motor homes here, even on the beach virtually 😎.
As we mentioned it's beautiful for the drone. By the time you head back to Europe Spain should be cooling down a bit 🥵.
Hopefully you get back to us for more info.
Ps. Keep up the great work it's getting better 👍🏻
Alan & Lynn x
Sorry that you had this parking incident at the hotel. The hotel albeit if they don't allow parking should put signs up and could have dealt with the situation of the letter more politely, not be so aggressive. We certainly won't be visiting Ireland from issues we have seen from a lot of Motorhomes. We can't wait to get back to Europe. And Benidorm!! Love to you both & Cheeks xx
To be honest I thought that statue was Glen Campbell. Not very like El Tel Wogan..
❤❤❤❤❤
I wouldn't stop anywhere I wasn't wanted.
we didn’t lol
You have given me an idea for my spare field!
omg let me know if you do xxx
If you are passing near Ballina you can pull in here, no charge and I can even run to a cheese & tuna baguette! Very quiet at the end of a lane. Plenty of room on hard standing beside the lough. Top up with water free, dispose of rubbish etc. We are a private house with land but would love your opinion on our location for a possible camper van stop over. We can even provide a hook up!
Lovly to see limerick city ❤my home town , haven't lived there in 15 years
So nice
@northernersontour I think you should apply for a digital nomad visa as you are TH-camrs and then you can just live where the sun shines everyday
going to look in to it xx
Ireland is a rip off every week the shopping goes up its a joke. Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay.
thank you lovely xx
Have you put a message on park for night, so others are aware. Save others being bothered. Persevere 😊xx
we went to but yo have to pay monthly to leave comments some one else has put a comment and it happened to them just after us plus the hotel said they where going to ask park4nights to remove it also
Another great vlog guys
Don't let van life get you down here in Ireland, it a bit like Cornwall, very few park ups, they are trying to force you into camp sites
Fun laugh will never get us down. This was just a little bump in the road. We are really enjoying Ireland.
Get yourselves up here now, you can park up at ours right on the shore of Lough Conn, in Mayo!! Send me direct message and I will send you the Eircode.❤
oh you are a little love ❤
We pay for rubbish removal in England too!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Come back to the Uk.. the weather has been lovely. 27 degrees 😊😊
Just sent you lovely guys step by step instructions on how to fill a report in re your Short Video today.

Loads of charity shops for you Lisa in the city and go chicken hut great for gravy
What an awful situation to be faced with ,I think mark handle that well, ignore some of the nasty comments.as for that cake 😳.
We are doing the same as thousands of other visitors to Ireland with a motorhome do, park for free and spend our money in the locations we visit. Surly this is better than paying €40 on one night stay on a campsite 30km away from anywhere and not getting to see Ireland !

Smile and vote with your feet and never return
This is why everything is closing down in town centres, they are expensive, but they don't want you to stay
They don't deserve your custom
exactly what we did
