Mike you missed the absolute cost savings and the health benefits of the good iron everybody needs and the way cast iron makes your food taste better keep up the good work the more people that cook with it the better 🎉
It’s hard to beat cast iron for sooo many things!! But for making pasta, boiling water, making beans, chili, etc, it’s either enameled CI, or, stainless..like my wise friend says…”the right tool, for the right job”…👏👏🎉🎊
Hello Mike my most used cast iron is the Lodge 6.6LDutch oven works so well , Was so impressed I went out and brought the Lodge cast iron skillets range from 9cm to 33cm, PS Happy birthday i turn 60 on the 16th
I may not be as old as many who has cast iron, at least I can say I am learning things from those who can teach me and I am able to teach those who are willing to learn from me.
Ah, I'm 3 days shy of having 10 years seniority on you . I turned 70 yesterday, Jan 13. Cast iron has always been there for me. It was an important part of my people's life before I was born, was always important to me and I really can't think of anything else that quite fits that category. I like the stuff that I know is older than me, even better the stuff that was before my parents. I don't so much like/didn't keep the gate mark stuff and that's even older than the stuff I have so, it's not just age. I've come to the conclusion, I like most cast iron. I think I make some really good food in cast iron. The fried pork I'm eating as I type this, I don't know of a way to do that as well without cast iron.
This is a great video. Reason #1, surely youre not at 60, dont look it.#2 i cant get over how beautiful that skillet izzzzz, dang its pretty. #3 spitting FACTS aboug da uses of cast iron. Best to you & Mrs. C.I. during this weather. Its already getting pretty tufffff here.
@MrCastIron Well you fooled me. & SNOWINNNNG😳😳😳?!!! That's good if it don't stay too long. We're stocked & redddy for tonight. 3 day of pure COLD & ICE starting tonight. Yall stay safe & give Mrs. C.I. my best. Wheeew, brrrrrr
@@MrCastIronI commented above but didn’t tag u. I wrote about my rusty cast iron skillet and wanted to know whether i just ruined it and can’t cook with it since it keeps having a film of rust on it after I washed it. It’s new I used it on a grill to cook breakfast and now I washed it and it’s yucky. Thank you so very much in advance for your advise it’s very helpful!
your 'agemate' skillet looking so perfectly seasoned...😍😍😍😍😍 belated Happy Birthday, Mr M... may you have more healthy years to use those cast iron as we continue to learn from you!!!❤
Thank you. The wife and I are just catching up on this. Switching how we cook with our pans. Learning of the benefits too. Keep doing what you do. Thank you again.
Hey mr. Cast iron, love your content; I’ve learned allot from you - thank you! Question here - I just got a smithey 12in, got it for its ability to sear fish well… The question is - for seasoning for idea setup… how many coats do you do?! I’ve done 3 rounds back to back so far. Thoughts?
You're welcome, and thank you! Congratulations on your new cast iron skillet! Yes, absolutely, three rounds is a good start. Just remember the more you cook in them, the more layers of seasoning are added.
You do know Mike, in dog years you're only 8 1/2.😃 Or ya could tell people you're celebrating your 30th anniversary of your 30th birthday! 😉 Or ya can tell people now that "they" get a discount when they take ya out for dinner 😋 Or, ya could just kick back and enjoy your day 👍👍👍 Anyway, Happy Birthday My Friend, and many more. Stay Safe and Stay Warm. Fun Fact, it's actually warmer in Maine right now than it is in Arkansas! I always knew there was a good reason to live here. lol
@@MrCastIron I have a "Big One" this year. 70! I don't feel like I've been on this journey for that long (most days) but the calendar never lies. On a good note, the Great State of Maine offers a free, Lifetime Hunting and Fishing license to any resident in the year you turn 70. So, I've lived long enough to legally drown worms, for Free!!! 🤣
I recently picked up a cast-iron skillet about a number 10 size and it has a gate mark on the bottom it’s extremely cruddy and I’ve had it in a tank for about a day give or take it’s got narrow for spouts, but other than that it doesn’t really have any indication of a manufacturer I’m wondering if I got an old piece or maybe a southern mystery skillet not sure if you can tell me what I have there?
Hey Jerry, I appreciate you checking on us! We are doing good, and I hope you are, too! I’ve been slackin', but I just uploaded a video in case you haven’t seen it yet! Take care, buddy!

Hello, your the first video I’ve watched and I see you actually get back to your audience’s questions. I will say thank you for your knowledge… I’ve only thought of using this skillet on our grill bc the place my husband and I moved into has no stove top/ oven. 😫 This skillet was picked up from family dollar for $10 bucks to cook eggs on the grill. After I washed it I let it dry in the dish drainer and went to put away the dishes a couple hours later and it was covered in a light orange ( rust ) I just rewashed it and I’ll put oil on it and see if it keeps the rust off but I don’t want to try to use it again and get sick, etc. I appreciate your response your advice is greatly helpful!

I think we are all constantly learning something new! I know I am. It’s a great hobby or whatever you want to call it!
to me its a valuable skill to have for anyone who loves to cook, kinda like having a good sharp knife
Yeah that’s right!
she probably was heating the pan up before she started cooking, that's what i do when i want to sear a steak or hamburgers or do high heat cooking.
Great video Mike thanks for the info have a great week 👍👋
