I agree its not needed, I actually might just have him use a dagger... also a spear with shield is not a good matchup... by this time armor was good enough a shield was not really needed, but would have looked nice in his apartment.
Basically the Forestmen and Wolfpack are the only factions I would not mind having to walk around without shields. They are rogues, bandits, trackers and rangers basically, people that tend to travel light and rely on ranged weapons and smaller arms to protect them. For sure, having some wolfpack shields would be awesome. They could build out the faction in some sort of bountyhunter way, or a mercenary type faction that also has knights and man-at-arms. For those minifigures, shields would make a lot of sense.
Something I would love to see Lego do is give us a new, slightly bigger horse mold with those feathery fetlocks around the feet to represent a draft horse/war steed. I think it would add and extra layer of detail to the castle theme. For example, you could have the new draft horse pulling a plow in a medieval farm set, while the regular horse could be a cart horse.
I would love an actual warhorse and having different sizes. I do think that with Lego, reusing existing parts as much as possible is a huge thing. It saves them a lot of investment on the molds and I don't think they will consider it. I'd be happy if they just added a few more colors and maybe a spotted pattern or something, but this is certainly a great idea.
great job, I also added some sheep, a pig with piglets, 2 cows and an owl. and built a 2 axle wagon pulled by one of the cows. I am also looking forward to some extra market stalls, nice idea from that potter!!
Sounds great. I certainly think adding sheep is the most logical choice. Because I do not yet own sheep, I used what I had. I made a small pig pen with some pigs, added a cow and the ox cart from the Lion Knight's, a few chickens and put a whole lot of plants and small trees around, including some cobblestones to make a townsquare in front of the inn. As a last thing to make it more lively, I added a squad of Black Falcon soldiers with a Knight, that visits the town for provisions, buying some cheese from the child laborer. I still think it is a bit of a problem that a set this expensive needs all kinds of things to 'complete' it, but on the other hand customizing and adding your own little details is certainly one of the most fun thngs to do.
Thank you so much for the input I needed for this years advent calender for the kids 😉👍 The small side builds together with a pottery should be possible for my two dwarfs.
Great job doing what LEGO should have done, by adding the pieces the set lacked. Apart from the statue (which is certainly nice, but not needed), having more stalls, a few more minifigures and a few more animals would have made the set quite a bit better. For me, the set as it is currently is probably an 8.5 out of 10 and with adding these it would go up to a 9 for sure, possibly 9.5 if it had multiple extra animals and a maybe a well. Another thing that really needs to be done is fixing the 2 unfinished roofs of the three part building assembly and changing the connection there so the buildings can fully open and the middle building doesn't get blocked. That would perfect the set to a 10/10 for sure.
Thanks! Totally agree on the roof updates - this video was more intended to capture add ons. We'll be doing updates/upgrades soon which will include a roof fix :)
The side stalls do add a lot to it, and easy enough to make. the Extra minis do add a lot and the horse would have improved the set quite a lot... things I want to do to mine own set are make the tower a clock tower, and separate the 2 haves to complete into a stable, and retail goods shop. and add a well.
Great ideas. I wanted to add a stables too, but in the end I am going to add it to the Lion Knight's Castle instead. The clock tower and goods shop is something I didn't think of.
yeah the 2 inns need to be separated, maybe the broken axes inn on one side, and a retail shop on the other? then make the painters studio part of another workshop or stable? I too would like to do this.
nice presentations - would be cool if you had built a MOC from all the sets 😉 - we probably would have built the whole village in front of a bigger castle wall
This is something I considered, but the townsquare buildings are basically so large, that the wall requires quite a brick investment if it was built up to scale. Also, the little tower assembly next to the inn doesn't look that great in front of a wall. In my opinion it is a better fit in the vicinity of a castle or a bunch of walls, or just displayed on it's own.
It's actually from the lion knights castle originally and is also featured in the medieval town set. All we did was swap the blue arms to sand green :) it does work great for forestmen and majisto!
Love it! especially the statue, if only I have the pieces... I am a little suspicious about the guard, coz is wearing a big mustache and has a letter from the black falcons... at your placce I would keep an eye on him, he might be an agent... for the taxes collector I think he might blackmailing the black knight coz of the letter he has... but I would add to him a cart with at least one treasure chest and on or two guards. I would make them looking a little crooked and not wearing the lion knights outfits... for the wolf pack highwayman I would recreate some blue cart closed or identical to the original set 6038.
the mustache for me makes him like an unassuming character that sees the good in anyone, like he would believe the wolf guys innocence on his word, almost like a mr magoo of guards. he is one of my favorites of the bunch... just wish he and the wolf guy also came with hair.
@@Krueger_ai just needs a new head and hair.... I actually used the head of the goat herder and I like it a lot... the original basil though I gave black kids legs to and black wolverine hair, and he is quite the character... and mine are all vegetarians... they are fruit bats!
Wow great additions! The statue is my #1!
Even just one extra stall adds so much more character. Great ideas.
Almost everything makes sense, but not the shield on wolfpack guy. He is a thief and does not want to carry shield with him when he sneaks arround. :D
