    Thank you so much for this chat about all the pre orders and the pressure of fomo! I'm new to planning, my current planners are hobonichi cousin and a personal size rings for info dump. It's been overwhelming and I love watching all the unveiling videos but I'm sticking to what I know and can afford.

    I planner hop, but have realized I can ONLY buy undated notebooks so I have less waste. But, this year was my first year getting into planners, and even with the undated options I know which ones will work and won't - so it is SO FUN to see all the new things being created but I will also just enjoy the unboxings and announcements and then just hangout in my undated common planners and blank grid notebooks hehe.

    If you are sick of the color. You could stick a piece of paper you like in the plastic cover as a book jacket. Cut out a piece of pretty paper that will fit in the plastic cover. Put the paper in the cover, then put your weeks in afterwards.

    • @TheDenmarie

      I was thinking of trying this with scrap paper since vellum has a degree of transparency and the purple is still visible.

    The planner craze is so real! On the SI Facebook page, I'm seeing people's screenshots of purchases with 6+ planners. I know myself and try not to get too many dated options because it's less waste if I do not use them by their date. Hyperconsumerism is something that needs to be discussed more in the planning community.

      I was actually telling my fiancé that I’m glad the SFD planner is undated because even if I don’t use it I can save it for another year. I have always gifted the planners I don’t use cause empty planners are so sad to me lol

    I’m blessed that my first introduction to the planner community was a Hobbonichi weeks and field notes, I got one for personal use and a weeks mega for homeschooling and can’t recommend it highly enough!

    All so true. Apart from 1 year I’ve done 6 years in a weeks. It must work! I’ve got gorgeous covers. Luckily lots of those US shops are off the table for me due to shipping costs so it does relieve it a little!

    Last year, I got a piece of adhesive leather to cover my Weeks sneaker. It took 2 weeks for the color to get on my nerves. I am a neutral girl 😊. I spent time in March writing out what was bothering me about my Weeks. This was handy when all the options were previewed by other shops because if their planner didn’t solve my problems, there was no point in trying it. Do what works for you is the right attitude!

  • @cdgarcia

    I too have purchased more planners than I needed but I’m glad I did because I now know what I like and don’t like. Definitely I’ve enjoyed the weeks long format. I look forward to see what Hobonichi does next.

    I’m writing this through my tears. I’m probably old enough to be your mom so I’m inclined to call you Mija, LOL because we call everyone younger than us, Mija. ! 😅 Thank you for your candor and for the pep talk. Hobo is my first love, but I can’t promise i won’t buy-tbh, it’s my only outlet so I’m okay with it, oh except for vintage LV’s. Hahaha
    I love that you shared your grandma with us and I can definitely see me and my cousins all gathering at ‘welita’s’ (abuelita) house and it transporting us straight back to childhood! I send you my condolences and a big hug from #Texas. I will be praying that you can go get that fur baby, please keep us posted. I’ve been to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 once and I’ve been hoping to get back…maybe you can vlog the process so we can join you in the journey. God bless you, hon. Theresa 🌺

    New to your channel. Enjoyed your video today. Your pages are very pretty! Currently I'm in the Spring Japanese edition of the Hobonichi weeks. I had two different weeks planners this year. I found out that bulking up my planner with stickers and things just wasn't working out, so I ordered the spring start. Mostly just pen to paper with minimal stickers right now. I just preordered the weeks planner from Sterling Ink. She has some absolutely gorgeous colors for 2024. Wish me luck on sticking with one planner for the year. 😉

    • @TheDenmarie
      @TheDenmarie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel the same about the Hobo Weeks. I only use washi stickers so that the planner doesn't bulk up- it's worked out so far. Not going to lie the misty blue and forest green from the Sterling Ink line up are stunning!

    I got the SFD weekly compact also. I though that I would switch over to it in Jun but I am currently in the original SFD weekly and I love that one. So I did not switch over to the compact one. Will use it for 2024. Hope you go back and get that little doggie, I had a wonderful dog from there and she was the best. Good luck to you in your future.

    You sound just like me. I always think something is going to be better but truly it's not. I have been using Hobonichi for the last 10 years and I will do the same this year. There is nothing like the weeks for planning. I will probably get the cousin again this year, even though I don't use it for planning, I like to journal in the cousin. I loved this video so much and really enjoyed seeing how you use and decorate your weeks. I would love to use the hobonichi day free but I need more pages for the whole year and I don't like having 2 books per year. Put a beautiful paper inside of your plastic cover or a special sticker, I love changing mine within the plastic cover all year long. I get bored. I just bought a moterm cover for my weeks and I love that it has two snaps and expands. They had them on Amazon and had beautiful colors. Keep making videos, they are really good.

    • @TheDenmarie

    I just found your channel! New subbie. Loved it! It’s so true about the FOMO. I was just feeling that this week and had to pull back. I’m so sorry about your abuelita, but what a blessing to celebrate her life! 😢 I haven’t visited PR since my grandmother passed so it’s been a long while. I’m hoping to visit one day with all of my girls so they can learn about their heritage. You had me crying when you talked about the small doggie in PR. I hope you’re able to get it. TFS mija! ❤️🤗

    I really enjoyed this video. I always want multiple planners and although I do use more than one, I never need as many as I want. I had been constantly using a travelers notebook for the past 4 years which I would also memory keep in. But I knew this year that I'd be making numerous trips to doctors and I need something really portable to put my med stats and list my meds in plus still be somewhat of a planner. So I went with the Hobo Weeks. And I can tell you that I will be continuing with the weeks. It's no frills but it keeps me on point. I do so hope you can rescue the puppy.

    I agree with you. I am definitely keeping the Hobonichi Weeks in my line. I tried the A5 and it was too big. I did try the Avec A6 and I’m just finding myself planner hopping. I’ve decided I will stick with the Hobonichi A6 Day Free and Hobonichi Weeks. That’s what is working for me. I like how you are doing some memory keeping as well. I think I may try that next year.

    your feelings and thoughts are so relatable! i had a very overwhelming june in terms of thinking about my lineup, and just like you, i ended up realising that hobo weeks is what truly works for me and i no longer have to keep searching for something "better". i don't need the other versions of it, either, even though a lot of people have them and seem to really enjoy them. there's such peace in being content in one planner year round and that's what i'll be trying to do for the rest of the year and next year :) thanks for sharing your thoughts, it's soooo easy to get swept up in the craze in this hobby for sure :P

    • @TheDenmarie
      @TheDenmarie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! I had a bunch of sticky notes all over my planner about different releases, layouts, and prices 😂 Hobo Weeks works for me so I let go of all my sticky notes. 📝

  • @JustScribble
    @JustScribble ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yes the SFD is not a true Hobo weeks size. But there’s other companies that make hobo week size planners. Some are undated and some are dated. An inexpensive dupe is the Kinbor. But also SterlingInk has their preorder up for their 2024 planners including weeks size. Love her planners.
    Adding a piece of vellum between the planner and the clear cover gives you a little decor and you can change it up seasonally.

    • @TheDenmarie
      @TheDenmarie  ปีที่แล้ว

      Love Sterling Ink! I have her monthly sub and it never disappoints. I do believe her planners are like the SFD in that the pages are larger so the clear cover makes it not fit quite as nicely on Hobo Weeks covers. That being said the color scheme she released is *chef's kiss*

    • @JustScribble
      @JustScribble ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheDenmarie actually the SI is the same size as a hobo weeks. It’s not larger like the SFD is. I have the SI weeks notebook and shared the size on a video. Her half year notebook is the exact same size as the regular hobo weeks. I’m planning to test some hobo size covers on my weeks notebook from SI this weekend actually. The full year won’t fit because it’s so thick. But the half year is the same size as the Hobo so should work.

    I think Sterling Ink is a great solution for those who want a Weeks layout but in a bigger planner for 2024. While she's doing a weeks size for 2024, she's also offering that format in standard tn size.
    Fyi, pre-orders are happening now until July 9.

    I like the Sweet Freckle Designs weekly edit planner in terms of layout, but my biggest complaint is that the ink smears so easily. I have never had a hobonichi weeks, but I do have one of the sterling ink grid notebooks and don't have issues with smearing on that paper. I don't use fountain pen. The pens that smear are usually gel pen or the crayola supertips. The smearing with the Sweet Freckle Designs annoys me enough that I will use it as a work planner with just a Bic ballpoint pen, no decorating at all. It's a shame. I considered getting a Sterling ink commonplace book for 2024 but have decided it's not worth it. $66 is a lot to spend for paper, and does it really make me so much more productive than just having a bullet journal?

    • @scf7334
      @scf7334 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you about the price of the Common Planner. They look like nice planners, but they’re a bit overpriced for my budget. I use the Kinbor Weeks dupe and LOVE IT. Cost me less than $12 including shipping and it fits perfectly in a Hobonichi clear cover.
