    Just discovered your blog over the weekend, thank you so much for all of the great content!! I purchased the Canon point and shoot a few days ago, but. have now returned it, and bought the M50 yesterday, you are right, it's a completely different world, so much faster, and so much better. This video totally sold me on every piece of equipment. My current setup is a canon 80D, Ronin SC, Comica external hotshoe mic, a way heavy 17-55mm 2.8 and all the charging cables and garbage it comes with. I’ve been eyeing the M50 for about a month to scale down the size of cameras and other equipment prepping for a huge motorcycle trip and obviously having less space than normal but not wanting to give up filming some cinematic elements, I think found all I need. Thank you very much. Deuces ✌🏼

    This video has been super helpful! I just have a quick question- as the m50 required a mount for canon/sigma lenses, do you have a adapter on the camera to use the Sigma lens? And if so, does it add much weight to it? 😊

    • @CharlonClarke

      I believe since the SIGMA is EFM, no adapter was needed

    With a few days old M50, I'm glad I found your reviews. I just ordered this Sigma 16mm for vlogging. And definitely will look into your tutorials on video setup (cheat sheet). I will be starting my youtube channel soon. Thank you!

  • @artjohnson01
    @artjohnson01 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wow! You really nailed it with this video. This is a great kit. You covered the pros and cons of each piece of the puzzle, and explained why you made your choice. Is the M50 the best camera in the world? No, but its definitely a great choice for a decent priced vlogging kit. And rinse and repeat for each piece of the kit. I'd love to debate why I chose M43 format, and why I don't need a gimbal (Dual stabilization, etc.), but...in the end, I think this kit is as good as it gets everything considered. I'm definitely going to add that Sigma lens to my kit!! GREAT JOB ALICIA!!

    • @AMAETV
      @AMAETV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Art! I do carefully consider each of these elements and what I need before making a decision. It's not the best camera in the world, but it's the most high-performing affordable option that's accessible to more people wanting to learn. I'm so curious about that dual stabilization though! Do you find it works as well as a gimbal for basic stabilization while walking around filming? Perhaps I will experiment with different camera brands and Micro 4/3rds one of these days 😄

    • @artjohnson01
      @artjohnson01 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AMAETV I think filming with dual lens stabilization is a great option, and there is no setup, no device to get in the way, and no *extra cost. The tests I've seen online eg. th-cam.com/video/ptLggJ-Z65M/w-d-xo.html, seem to indicate as much. The catch is (there's always a catch) you'd need to invest in a camera and lens system, eg. Panasonic, that has a stabilized camera body and compatible stabilized lenses. *obviously cost of dual stabilization is included in the cost of the dual stabilized camera and lenses.

    Definitely can't wait for your balancing video BC I watched the FeiyuTech video and it was.....ok... LOL I get a ton of shake with the camera on the gimbal which I am sure is due to my poor balancing work (as in operator error). So no pressure.....But I'm waiting!! LOL

    I have the same camera and its my first ever DSLR, thanks for the tips! I actually hated the kit lense it came with (15-45mm). That is probably because I used it for just recording me inside and close up talking about current music news rather then outside at a distance. My last video looked great recording but looked awful after transferring! Rookie move with not enough light lol! So I picked up the 22mm due to stating that it does better in this situation. Did some test footage it looks great in my inside environment. P.S. College was a long time ago? Please you dont look a day over 25 haha

    • @AMAETV
      @AMAETV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the kit lens will force you to use a higher ISO because the aperture isn’t as large, and that makes footage look crappy. It’s all a learning process 😄 And yes let’s just say I have learned a LOT since college!

      If you are looking for 1080p 60fps then go for Canon m50 if you want a vlogging camera with no need of a microphone or additional equipment the go for Canon g7x ii

    I use the same set up, with a rode video mic...
    I had some AF issues with the lens and the same nd filter... Seems like the lens has some difficulties setting the AF right, kinda focus pumping but very slow... Had u have the same experience?

    I was skimping on my set up... but I’m going to get the lens 100% because of you. I’ll let you know how it goes

    What’s about an Canon 11-22 mm compared to the one you are saying is awesome here?

    • @AMAETV
      @AMAETV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Canon 11-22's largest aperture is 4.0- so you won't get the same low light performance and background blur you get from the 1.4 aperture.

    Love this video! Makes so much sense. I will look into those Rode Go mics, very cool. For even better video on youtube, upload at 1080P 60FPS so that youtube gives you the better codec.

    Thank you for the recommendation on the Gimbal. I bought a recommended Zhiyun Crane M2 for the Canon M50 but alas it really only works if you use the kit lens. Thank you for letting us know this Gimbal can hold the Sigma 16, that is all I needed to hear! Thank you B&H for an excellent return policy! hehe

    The 16mm Sigma lens is a dream. It's my favourite vlogging lens. The only annoying thing in the ND filter because it's just a bright lens.

    Great video as usual. M50 is to me the very best vlogging camera for the price by far. I personnaly prefer the 11-22mm for vlogging because of the size/weight/wider view and IS despite the 4.0 aperture. Also I use a Joby gorillapod and no gimbal as I prefer portability. I add to my kit a rode wireless goans a Manfrotto 8 leds lumimuse. All of this with a smallrig case that sure add some weight but is working fine for me. I have also purchased the sigma 30mm 1.4 for videos and street photography

    • @AMAETV
      @AMAETV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a great setup! What do you like about the Small Rig case that makes it worth the extra weight? I always wonder if I should use one of those.. And really, this gimbal takes up no more room than the gorillapod, I was surprised to find!

    • @viviparis8778
      @viviparis8778 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AMAETV Smallrig cage is aluminium and really light. Gets you a better grip for photography but the best of this cage is that you can add more lights (1 or 2 aputure or manfrotto led lights wich are great for night vlogging), microphone (or rode wireless go) or even a monitor if needed (personally I don't use one because I'm happy with the M50 built monitor. I also use the cage to put a handgrip on so I can make videos with different angles. As for me, the smallrig cage is a must have
