- It's called 'Bin' but should it end up in one? This 8 in 1 kitchen gadget was on offer on Ali Express last Year and I just had to pay approximately £2 in postage costs, potential bargain of the century. It's an 'As seen on TV' product, I have no idea what TV and who the real brand is, or even if that was food safe plastic.... but it did have 8 different uses including a lemon squeezer with some very poor English! Hope you enjoy the video :)

Twist top bottles aren't really a thing in the UK, so I think it's more product error than user error in this case haha
@@silvrfoxie594 the product, if tested on the correct thing, may have worked but we don't know be cause it wasn't... the gadget was obviously an online purchase and so not directly targeted to the UK so it's not product error, it's user error

I'd honestly suggest the next gadget Barry tests should be a Krupps Ovomat. (I wouldn't trust any cheap egg-cooker off of AliExpress. Not with electricity involved.)

I get the impression that the instructions for the rubber 'bottle opener' thing were warning you against using it with solvents because it's probably made of butylene and won't survive contact with them.
I like the concept, everybody has space for a bottle in his kitchen, and to be fair most of these gadgets worked well.
Maybe if it was out of higher grade material most would work better. If it was Glass / Stainless Steel, /silicone for the jar opener,i would buy one.

I'm pretty sure the funnel is supposed to be used for powder, that was the spelling or word mistake, not power! 😆 I use the funnel to get my drink mixes into bottles! Put the small end into a water bottle and use protein powder at the large end to funnel it in!
I was literally facepalming when he missed the entire concept of a funnel and turned it into a bottle... A product made simple may not be simple in the hands of someone simple.
Gotta say etc is one of my favourite ingredients, so versatile! 😂
"Bin" means "bottle" in Japanese ("瓶").
I'm guessing it was in Japanese first and then translated into english, maybe that's why the instructions don't make sense.😂

I had one of these! It went in the bin! I juiced a lime and the juice melted the measuring cup!
Really?! That's crazy, lime juice destroys our worktop so i'm glad that didn't happen! Wow, may need to give it another go and see if it does it lol
Yes not all the way through but the clear plastic went opaque and scaley after I'd done it!
@@hannahgb7046 I had the same thing happen to the base of my veggie prep kit when I used it to zest a lemon. The limonene oil can be quite aggressive to some plastics, apparently!

I watch the Food Channel on TV and I swear Barry is more entertaining than anything on there now. And you have Mrs.B as a bonus!! Barry is fun and Mrs B is honestly adorable. Needless to say I am a big Barry fan!!
I've bought the official version of this from amazon as a gift and it was loved but there is no way I would support this one as it's ripping off someone else's design and I wouldn't trust the materials,

@@jakeholdings673 I actually made sure what I was buying was the original but I agree with you it is very easy to get duped, I really recommend researching what you are buying first.
@@LindzTheLooneyOfLondon @Jake Holdings, either way it looks like an uptick in quality over the one Barry reviewed, and that's mostly what matters. I'm not advocating buying knock-off copies of things btw, and tbf it's not always possible to know! Usually the fact that's it's not made down to the cheapest price is a good indicator for me.
For checking the accuracy of a measuring cup you should really use a kitchen scale. One of the beautiful things about the metric system is that 100mL of water weighs exactly 100g. (Ok, technically that only applies at sea level at 4°C but the difference is quite miniscule.) You are correct that it is a very good idea to check the accuracy of measurement lines on new measuring cups.

At least it didn't burst in to flames. By the way when you tried the bottle opener I reckon it is meant for screw cap bottles rather than the crimped cap you tried it on.

Based on the description, I think the the larger end of the green part is meant for putting onto a bottle, so it'll be a direct transfer

Those were originally marketed in the 90's to have at your bar or beach party- everything you need to mix drinks. One of those 'do everything (but nothing well)' gadgets. The green bit at the top is supposed to be a drink measure spout.
WHY!!! WHY???? Do you keep tasting raw ginger??? Do you expect it to taste differently each time??? Honestly, I hope you continue to sample raw ginger, garlic, etc. because I laugh so much at your reactions!
I actually enjoy eating raw garlic. I put it on sandwiches to give them a little zing. But I would never do that with raw ginger. Nope!
Umm....i like raw ginger. Just scrape The skin off, slice and chew. And garlic. And onions.

We've had a version of this gadget for a few years now. Found it works really well. Only issue we've had is that the measurements are rubbing off. We make home made mayo with is atleast once a week. Using the funnel, the juicer and the measuring bit.

I have had one of these for years. Not the greatest quality but actually functional.
If you have limited storage the fact that they all stack can come in handy. Not dishwasher safe! The plastic will become "crazed" and crack.

It's been years since someone has mentioned Flight of the Navigator. The Ginger ROOT does look like that little hand alien that the kid takes as a pet. On another note, I'm surprised that NO ONE has made a Seal egg timer. He is a musician also, albeit a short lived one.
...As someone who lives about half an hour's drive from the Coors brewery, I think I see the problem with Barry's attempt at opening the bottle: _it's not a twist-off bottle cap._
(If he'd managed it anyway, I'd've been genuinely impressed.)

By the way THANKS for always mentioning how gadgets may help those of us with disabilities. A lot of people tend to forget that.
Loved triturating. I learned the term in a lab many years ago for grinding drying molasses on sand when doing a moisture content. There was a certain point where it was friable (enjoy that word 😀), so we triturated it to break it up to ensure the moisture could escape. I learned the pronunciation as in tricycle, though.
The funnel helps you put things into a bottle. How do you not know this???
I think it's pretty cool. As long as you are not microwaving it, using on food isn't dangerous

Best ginger hack is to put ginger in a ziploc bag in the freezer and use a mini grinding plane to just "shave" the ginger into whatever you cook.
I hope you shared that box with Ashens.
If you find ginger with nubs on it, you can usually make it sprout. Which means, if you have a garden with good soil, you can effectively start growing your own if you plant it in the late spring or early summer. It won't do well when it's colder, but if it's nice and warm in the spring, you won't need to buy the stuff until you run out of your home-grown stuff in the off-season.

I found chopsticks that the package was almost indecipherable in the English translation.
Though I still prefer the citrus squeezer I already have (mainly used for limes, because I tend to do a lot of authentic Mexican food), I can see the use for this gadget. Thanks for sharing this!

I had the same trouble with measuring jugs too, turns out the glass Pyrex one I was using wasnt very accurate at all, possibly a printing error. Might be worth checking yours!
The wording to the instructions sounds like they were written by a child who's just learning to write lol. Did anyone catch that Barry called a red grapefruit a red watermelon lol
"It's Raining Men" was sang by a duo of women named The Weather Girls. They are the vocalists who sing on the house/dance hit "Everybody Dance (Gonna Make You Sweat)" by C + C Music Factory (amazing album despite what I'm about to tell you). Although they were the vocalists for the song, they were not featured in the music video because of the fact that they were both overweight and simply didn't look good on camera. They didn't know that was the case until the video aired.
Twist top beer bottles really aren't a thing here in UK so you trying to twist the bottle cap off was kinda funny.
I could watch Barry 24 hours a day, every day. Still freaks me out that eggs aren't kept in the fridge across the pond though 🤓
Yeah because we don´t wash off the protection from the eggs. (but don´t worry, i store my eggs still in the fridge, just to be absolutely sure *signed a german )
I live in N.Z and don't keep eggs in the fridge, except maybe a little in summer

As someone who works on a produce (fruit and veg) department training as a manager, don't break off ginger, this is how you expose the inside to bacterial and it goes mouldy which then spreads to other bits in the tray and causes huge amounts of waste. It's like an onion, the outside is dried to protect it, you wouldn't chop an onion in half in the shop would you?
