  • This channel is only for adults.
    Hello,
    In 2021, about 7 months into the worst 3 years of my life - I discovered adult coloring. It saved me! Fast forward 3 years when I discovered that I am Autistic - a light bulb moment to be sure. Followed several weeks later by the epiphany that coloring is one of my stims. And I would say - The Best Stim! in my arsenal to date. As I am new to Autism and still processing the whole discovery, I don't know how this will play out. Please join me at my new channel, Autistic Robot: / @autisticrobot42 , where I will explore my Autistic side, explain some of my best life hacks, and attempt to get a proper diagnosis. I'll still be here too, no worries.
    Here's to new chapters and new "possibilities."

    Hi Doodle robot! The most autistic persons are briljant! Invetors are often autistic…. So don’t worry. We all live in a rat race… everthing is goes and has to go fast. Our brain is almost melting, so we need to give our brains a rest. I love to knit, crouchet, color, make puzzles and diamond painting. The last one is sooooo incredibly soothing, so yeah i totally understand when people start to diamond paint, there hooked forever….i recognise some things by myself but i don’t like thinking in boxes. Everyone is different, no one is the same. What’s fits the one, doesn’t fits the other. Find your way…..❤

    • @doodlerobot42
      @doodlerobot42  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree completely. I suppose that is why they say autism is a spectrum. Yes, labels, boxes, and words are clumsy, especially in the case of judgmental people. However, labeling can cut through so many words and get straight to the point to facilitate better and faster communication, learning, and connection if people are open to such things. Have a wonderful week. 🤍🖖👽

    Hi there 😊 this is also so very, me! I've thought that I had been on the spectrum for quite some time. Seems that all I've been doing lately is backgrounds. I have a bazillion pages started with just backgrounds because I need to do something creative but can not possibly use my brain for anything more than a single color. Im so glad you were able to share this. Im looking forward to more incites on your other channel. Happy coloring to you, my wonderful friend 😊

      Me too! I got diagnosed two years ago, after my child got their diagnose and it was all very recognisable 🙄 Before that, I had no idea. I might have ADD too, but I don't care about an official diagnosis for that. I too am often too tired to be really creative and I'm trying out all kinds of stuff. Zentangle, art journaling, glue booking, crochet, knitting,... What I have found that helps most, is to do the thinking when I have the energy for it. So I have several pages started, and I write down what colours I'm using. When I'm too tired to think about it, I can just continue colouring something. I also use the palettes that @amanda.colours posts every month for her hashtag. I find the markers or gel pens with the right colours, and I put a sticky note in my mandala book, to pick up when I just want to colour. Doodle Robot mentioned her black an white colouring a couple of months ago, that's really relaxing too. Let's all meet up at her new channel to exchange experiences and tips?

      @@doodlerobot42 I always thought I was a bit weaker healthwise. I needed more rest than others, got ill a bit more often, things like that. I used to be a high school teacher too (mathematics), why do we do that to ourselves 😅 First I started working parttime, but then in 2017 I got a viral infection and just never recovered. After seeing a lot of doctors, they told me I have chronic fatigue. Which kind of translates to: we don't know what's wrong, so we give it a name and go away now. No traetment, nothing. When I read interviews with people with long covid, I told my husband, that's what I have! But now I know that I'm autistic, I think that didn't help either. Like you say, this world isn't built for us. My 19yo struggles a lot harder than me at that age, and I think that is because the word is so much more demanding now. When I was in high school, I could rest and recover at home, but nowadays you just don't get enough peace and quiet anymore.

    I've been looking into autism for quite some time now and only now getting to the acceptance phase, but I never thought of coloring backgrounds as stimming, but it sure does help to explain why I'm looking through a coloring book I'm working on now and realizing that I have multiple pages of only backgrounds completed. :D

      Hi, I got diagnosed two years ago, and yes, it's kind of a shock at first. But once I got past that, I finally got the validation that, yes, some things really are very hard for me, even if they seem so simple for others. And also, I see the positive of being autistic now. Yes, I am more sensitive to scratchy clothes and stuff like that, but I also enjoy something really soft so much more than other people! I see it in my 19yo too, they have problems with the texture of some foods, but when they eat something they like, they don't just enjoy it, they ENJOY it. So for me, it's better now I know. I just understand myself better. And other people too, actually 😅

    Hi Doodle! I’ve watched your video 4 times now, and I learn something new each time😂! I have been that person who just stares at my books, but I can’t start a page because I am just so exhausted from daily life. Thanks for the suggestion of simply starting a background when feeling like that. I have to color every day because it helps me so much. As I told you on Instagram, I immediately found some tests from my Psychology major daughter and tested on the spectrum each time. Although this is a bit overwhelming, I have found myself feeling relieved and more free to have an explanation of why I am the way I am. (I also immediately had to buy that pattern book😂). Another hilarious part of this is my husband is autistic as well. It’s probably why we are still married after 29 years 😂. We’re the only ones who can put up with and understand the other.
