As someone who's only just started playing factorio (relatively lately at least.) I'm extremely impressed at the efficiency this guy gives. His hot keys, shortcuts and general knowledge of the game just gives me hope that while I'm raging and fuming at the fact my car was destroyed by biters and I'm literally making almost all of my science pots by hand, I'll get better soon. I don't see comments about the audio repeating the intro at about 6:00, so it must be a fault here, possibly connected to the ongoing KSP 1.1 download. Have to start again, I guess.

You can get a little quicker start in a desert setting like this by dropping your Miner + Furnace on the coal immediately, dumping 5 coal in the miner, and then running off to collect wood + stone. Collect the Miner + Furnace a minute later, and you'll have a good chunk of all three resources (wood, stone, and coal) to carry to the Iron Ore. Also, I prefer 3 miners on the coal arranged in a pinwheel, feeding into a box. It runs for longer (you never come back and find all 4 miners have filled up), and it requires less resources + produces less pollution (although it does require you to stock up the miners manually each time you swing by to pick up a load; 10 coal is usually enough at a time until you switch to a single electric miner feeding the box).
Great concept, love it. I often thought to myself whilst playing this game that there's a lot of good analogies for biology. I'm jealous of your train system, I'm going to have to get creative now xD.
Cells split twice in meiosis, the original cell duplicates it’s dna, then it splits in two, and each daughter cell gets the same amount of dna. After, that, both of those cells split so you end with four cells, each containing half of the original dna. When two gametes combine, you get some from mom and some from dad. You end up with one complete set of dna. Some other stuff happens like crossing over and stuff but I don’t feel like writing too much more. :p (I guess what I’m trying to say here is that it’s more like factorio mitosis.)
you should do one ware you cant pick anything up once its placed down but you can rotate items . so at the end you end up with a big mess of parts every ware
To save you from 'wasting' to many robots early the number for the follower robot count (to the right of the inventory UI) turns green when you've maxed out the count, I don't think it says how long until they explode tho.
What I want to know is how many maps did you generate before finding one with the nice water block on the east side (and partly on the south) and tight choke points to the north.
Check the live stream part 1 on Z's channel, he shows the settings page. Otherwise check the description for a paste in link to the map exchange string for this exact map. This was started in 0.12 but the settings still work in the current version. If you want it exactly the same revert back to 0.12 load the string, start the map then upgrade to current version. The terrain gen will be different past your explored area though. This is an awesome series if you've just fount it. Enjoy.

I watched this series as it was released. 5 years on, it still stands out in my mind as the best Factorio playthrough I've ever watched.

Yeah, he reallly isn't that good considering this first episode is pretty slow.
